Darkness.

The twins felt as though they were falling through an endless void.

The voices of their parents slowly faded away.Full novel: Ashes Of The Fallen World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The warmth of the Emperor’s embrace disappeared.

Only silence remained.

…

Two hours later.

Shadow’s fingers twitched.

His eyes slowly opened.

At the exact same moment…

KING also opened his eyes.

Both brothers sat upright.

“Father!” The word escaped their mouths simultaneously.

Their voices echoed across the unfamiliar landscape.

The twins immediately looked around.

This…

Wasn’t Warzo.

An endless green plain stretched before them.

The sky was clear.

Birds flew peacefully overhead.

A gentle breeze swayed the tall grass.

It was a beautiful world.

Yet to them…

It felt empty.

Shadow clenched his fists.

“We’re not home.” KING’s breathing became heavier.

“No…” “No…” He looked around desperately.

“There has to be a way back!” Suddenly…

Shadow remembered the silver ring.

He looked down at his hand.

“The ring…” KING immediately noticed it as well.

Without hesitation, both touched the rings.

Instantly— A brilliant blue light emerged.

A massive three-dimensional map unfolded before them.

Countless stars…

Thousands of galaxies…

Entire universes…

Everything appeared before their eyes.

Both brothers stood speechless.

Shadow cautiously spoke.

“Ring…” “Can you hear us?” Silence.

KING shouted.

“I SAID, CAN YOU HEAR US?!” For several seconds…

Nothing happened.

Then…

A calm mechanical voice echoed from the rings.

“Voice recognized.” “Awaiting command.” Both twins looked at each other.

It worked.

Shadow immediately spoke.

“Take us back.” “To Planet Warzo.” The map began moving.

Galaxies shifted.

Stars disappeared.

Entire universes rotated before their eyes.

It was searching.

Searching…

Searching…

Then— “Destination found.” “Opening spatial gateway.” A golden portal slowly appeared before them.

Without hesitation…

The twins stepped inside.

“Hope is cruel.

It gives you just enough light…

…to witness the darkness waiting ahead.” The portal opened.

Shadow and KING immediately rushed forward.

They were back.

Planet Warzo.

Or…

What remained of it.

The once-magnificent Imperial Palace had nearly collapsed.

Smoke covered the sky.

Ash drifted through the wind like black snow.

No voices remained.

No soldiers.

No citizens.

Only silence.

The twins sprinted inside.

Every hallway was painted crimson.

Broken swords littered the floor.

The smell of blood filled the air.

Then…

They stopped.

Uncle Ren.

He remained kneeling.

His sword was planted into the ground to keep himself upright.

More than ten swords had pierced his body.

Blood continued flowing beneath him.

His eyes…

Were already lifeless.

KING slowly walked toward him.

“Uncle…” No answer.

Shadow lowered his head.

Without speaking…

The two silently continued forward.

More bodies.

More destruction.

Then…

Maria.

She lay upon the marble floor.

A massive hole pierced through her abdomen.

Not far away…

Marina rested beside her.

Her hand still reached toward the palace entrance…

As though she had desperately tried to reach her sons one last time.

Neither brother cried.

Neither screamed.

Their faces remained expressionless.

Not because they didn’t care.

But because…

Their hearts had never learned how to express grief.

They simply stood there.

Silent.

Motionless.

“Some wounds do not bleed.

They simply remain inside the soul forever.” The throne room.

The final destination.

There…

Sat the Emperor.

Still upon his throne.

His posture remained dignified.

Even in death…

He looked like a king.

Countless swords pierced his body.

Yet his face carried a peaceful smile.

As if…

His final wish had been fulfilled.

KING slowly walked toward him.

Then…

His legs gave way.

He collapsed onto his knees.

“…Father…” His voice trembled.

For the first time in his life…

He wished he could cry.

But no tears came.

Only emptiness.

Only silence.

Suddenly…

The ground shook violently.

BOOOOOOM!!

Large cracks spread across the palace floor.

The entire planet began trembling.

Shadow immediately looked upward.

His instincts screamed.

“This planet…” “…is about to explode.” KING remained kneeling.

“I don’t care.” Shadow grabbed his shoulder.

His voice remained calm.

Yet for the first time…

There was determination within it.

“Pull yourself together.” “If we die here…” “…everyone’s sacrifice will be meaningless.” KING remained silent.

Shadow continued.

“We still have something left.” “Revenge.” Several seconds passed.

Finally…

KING slowly stood.

His fists tightened.

His red eyes burned with fury.

“…You’re right.” “I’ll hunt every single one of them.” “I’ll erase their bloodline…” “…until not even their names remain.” Shadow nodded.

“Our revenge begins today.” Then KING suddenly remembered something.

“The masks.” Shadow looked toward him.

“Uncle Ren…” “He said our warrior masks were already prepared.” “He wanted to give them to us…” “…when the time was right.” KING looked around the burning palace.

“I guess…” “…that time has finally come.” The two rushed toward Uncle Ren’s home.

The house had nearly collapsed.

Inside…

Lay another lifeless body.

Ren’s wife.

She, too, had fallen protecting the empire.

The twins silently bowed their heads.

Then…

Resting upon a wooden table…

Were two masks.

One…

Jet black…

Decorated with crimson patterns.

The other…

Deep crimson…

Marked with black designs.

The masks of the empire’s future warriors.

Without hesitation…

Shadow picked up the black mask.

KING picked up the crimson one.

Together…

They walked to the top of the palace.

The entire sky had turned scarlet.

Then…

A terrifying pillar of red and golden energy descended from the heavens.

It raced toward Planet Warzo.

Toward them.

Toward everything.

Shadow activated the ring.

“Teleport us.” “To the nearest safe planet.” “Command accepted.” A portal opened.

The beam was only a single step away.

The twins looked back one final time.

At their home.

At their family.

At the world that had raised them.

Then…

Without another word…

They stepped into the portal.

The gateway closed.

The beam struck.

From the endless darkness of space…

Planet Warzo glowed one final time.

Then…

It shattered into countless fragments.

The home of Shadow and KING…

…became nothing more than ashes drifting through the universe.

End of Chapter 3 “That day, two princes lost their kingdom.

The universe gained two revengers.
