As she neared the national highway from the side road, waves of zombie roars and a little boy’s cries for help came from ahead.

Yan Qing slowed down her riding speed. Since the motorcycle had been modified, the three people ahead did not notice Yan Qing slowly approaching.

A little boy had fallen to the ground. He looked back at the dozen or so zombies not far behind him, tears welling in his eyes as he stretched out his small hand toward his parents ahead.Full novel: Back to 100 Days Before the Apocalypse: I Sold My Possessions and Frantically Stockpiled Supplies — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The woman actually stopped and turned around. Just as she was about to run back, the man beside her forcibly pulled her away.

“Hurry up and go! If he dies, we can have another one! Let’s hurry and run while we still can!”

The moment the woman heard those words, she raised her head, her eyes instantly filling with tears. She stared at the man before her with complete disbelief.

“Y… What did you just say? Are you even human? That’s your son!!”

“So what if he’s my son? I can always have another! If I die, then I’ll lose everything! Hurry up and go!!”

The woman angrily shook off the man’s hand. Ignoring his attempts to stop her, she turned and ran toward her four-year-old son.

“Mommy!”

“Haohao!”

The moment the mother and son embraced each other, the zombies had already reached them with their growls.

Seeing this, the man in front directly abandoned the mother and son and ran off as fast as his legs could carry him.

“Mommy, I’m scared!”

“Don’t be afraid, Haohao. Mommy will protect you!”

Holding her child in her arms, the woman looked at the zombies slowly surrounding them. Her whole body trembled uncontrollably from fear and terror, her voice choking with sobs.

After taking several deep breaths with her eyes closed, she prepared to force her way out with her frail body.

“Get down!”

A cold voice entered the woman’s ears. Before her brain could react, her body had already crouched down instinctively.

The moment she ducked, a series of chopping sounds rang out continuously, like bones being cleaved apart.

Just as the woman was about to raise her head and look, a severed zombie head rolled right to her feet…

Reflected in her pupils was that rotting bluish face. Along with it came a suffocating stench of decay that rushed straight to her head. It seemed the zombie had not completely died yet, because its eyeballs were still rolling wildly in circles.

The woman was so frightened that she collapsed onto the ground. Cold sweat continuously poured from her forehead. After a long while, she finally hugged her child and burst into tears.

As the little boy tried to turn around and look, the woman reached out and pressed his head against her shoulder, preventing him from seeing such a horrifying and disgusting scene.

The woman raised her head and looked toward Yan Qing in the distance, who was wielding her Tang blade and harvesting zombie heads one after another.

It felt as though she had seen salvation itself descend.

After the last zombie fell, Yan Qing turned around.

The woman only saw half of Yan Qing’s fair face beneath the mask, and those pitch black eyes that held not the slightest ripple of emotion.

Holding her child, the woman stood up. Before she could even say anything, Yan Qing directly tossed a package toward her.

Without saying a single word, she turned around and headed straight for her motorcycle.

After catching the package with one hand, the woman looked up again, only to see Yan Qing’s figure speeding away on her motorcycle.

“Mommy, the goddess big sister saved us!”

The woman nodded. Tears welled in her eyes as she looked lovingly at her child. Carrying the package Yan Qing had given them and holding her son in her arms, she continued onward.

After taking many detours, Yan Qing finally arrived at Qingjiang Village roughly two hours later.

She parked her motorcycle at the village entrance and looked around.

The surroundings were eerily quiet.

There was not a single person.

Not even a single zombie.

That strange silence made an odd feeling arise in Yan Qing’s heart.

She stored the motorcycle into her spatial storage and found the tallest tree nearby to climb.

Then she took out shredded pork with fish fragrance sauce, braised beef, stir-fried vegetables, and a bowl of rice from her spatial storage and began eating.

Burp~ Ah!

Opening a bottle of ice-cold soda and taking a sip, Yan Qing instantly felt refreshed.

If she did not still have important business to handle, she would have even wanted to take a nap right here.

After lying on a tree branch and resting for over ten minutes, she skillfully climbed down and headed into Qingjiang Village.

Walking along the village’s stone paths, the strange feeling in Yan Qing’s heart surfaced again.

The village was far too quiet.

Quiet in a way that felt abnormal.

A sense of unease constantly stirred in her heart.

But the zombie outbreak had only just begun. There should not be anything truly terrifying appearing yet… right?

Standing in the village square, she looked at the doors of the houses around her.

Some doors were closed.

Others stood wide open.

Yet no sunlight at all reached inside those open doorways.

From her angle, the interiors looked pitch black, as though something inside was staring at her.

Were they villagers?

Could the villagers of Qingjiang Village really have started eating human flesh this quickly?

Recalling the horrifying scene from her previous life, she took out her specially made Tang blade from her spatial storage and gripped it tightly.

The moment she held the Tang blade, her sense of security seemed to return somewhat, and even her furrowed brows relaxed slightly.

Looking at the village before her, which was nowhere near as ruined as it had been in her previous life, she recalled the location of Qingjiang Village’s ancestral hall and headed northeast according to her memories.

Something was wrong.

The farther she walked, the more Yan Qing felt that something was off.

The unease and anxiety growing inside her became stronger and stronger.

Yan Qing stopped walking and closed her eyes where she stood, recalling what Qingjiang Village had looked like in her previous life.

Back then, it had not been much different from any other village overrun by zombies.

Most of the zombies in the village had been ordinary zombies.

Occasionally there had been a few Level One zombies, but she could easily deal with them with a casual burst of her lightning ability.

But the current Qingjiang Village was simply too bizarre.

It forced Yan Qing to stop in place.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated wildly.

It felt as though something terrible was about to happen.

Her entire body tensed up. Cold sweat gradually formed on her forehead and on the hand gripping her Tang blade.

A chill spread across her back.

She felt something staring at her.

Something approaching her.

Her eyes sharpened. The Tang blade in her hand suddenly slashed backward.

Clang!

A mutated zombie!

Yan Qing frowned and looked at the zombie before her, whose upper body had already undergone mutation.

Its hands had transformed into blades and blocked her Tang blade directly.

Worse still, the Tang blade had not caused even the slightest damage to it!

After failing its sneak attack, the mutated zombie immediately retreated dozens of meters and confronted Yan Qing from afar.

Neither human nor zombie dared make the first move.

Yan Qing quickly thought through ways to kill this zombie that not only possessed a mutated body but also terrifying speed.

This situation had become troublesome.

In her previous life, she had never heard of a mutated zombie appearing here.

Could this also be the butterfly effect caused by her rebirth?

Clang!

Taking advantage of Yan Qing’s momentary distraction, the mutated zombie suddenly rushed forward to ambush her, only for Yan Qing to block it again with her Tang blade.

Seeing this, the zombie transformed its blade-hands into hook-like weapons and slashed toward Yan Qing’s neck.

The attack clearly aimed to sever her head.

Without time to think, Yan Qing bent backward while simultaneously swinging her Tang blade toward the zombie’s lower body.

“ROAR!! ROAR!!”

A flash of delight passed through Yan Qing’s eyes.

Its lower body had not mutated!

The mutated zombie’s leg had been wounded by the Tang blade. It nearly lost balance and collapsed.

Staggering backward to a distance of ten meters, it once again left Yan Qing with no opportunity.

Its speed was simply too fast.

Even with half its leg injured, Yan Qing could only stay on the defensive. Recklessly attacking would easily expose an opening.

Yan Qing felt increasingly irritated.

She had already sensed something wrong in the village earlier.

She should have retreated immediately.

After all, a gentleman took revenge, even ten years was not too late.

At this point, whether she could even leave here alive was uncertain.
