“ROAR!! ROAR!!”

The mutated zombie let out several animal-like howls. Immediately afterward, the sounds of large numbers of zombie footsteps and roars echoed from all around.

It could actually summon zombies!!Full novel: Back to 100 Days Before the Apocalypse: I Sold My Possessions and Frantically Stockpiled Supplies — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Shock appeared on Yan Qing’s face as she looked around. She saw groups of two and three zombies emerging from the pitch-black houses with open doors, slowly surrounding her from every direction.

Taking advantage of Yan Qing’s distraction, the mutated zombie immediately concealed itself among the ordinary zombie horde. By the time Yan Qing reacted, it had already disappeared without a trace.

“Kiao!!”

Yan Qing mentally cursed the mutated zombie’s ancestors for eighteen generations.

She did not want to die here. Her revenge was not yet complete. But with the situation as it was now, she could only grit her teeth and force her way out.

Looking at the zombies surrounding her layer after layer, there were at least over a hundred of them.

Yan Qing tightened her grip on the Tang blade and slashed toward the neck of the nearest zombie.

She continuously swung her Tang blade through the horde. One zombie fell after another.

“Damn it, why are there so many people in this village?”

Standing at the center of the fallen zombies, she planted her Tang blade into the ground and took several breaths during the brief opening.

But before she could even catch a few more breaths, another circle of zombies surrounded her.

While swinging her Tang blade toward the village entrance, she carefully observed her surroundings, staying alert for that mutated zombie.

Suddenly, her leg felt itchy.

Lowering her head, she saw a baby zombie climbing up her leg toward her thigh.

When the baby zombie noticed Yan Qing looking at it, it imitated the other zombies and opened its toothless mouth, baring its gums as it bit onto Yan Qing’s pants.

Although it caused no actual damage, the baby zombie’s saliva successfully soaked a large patch of her pants.

With visible disgust, she grabbed the baby zombie hanging from her leg with one hand and violently flung it away. The baby zombie flew through the air, wailing loudly.

Yan Qing did not notice where the baby zombie had been thrown. Carrying her Tang blade, she continued advancing toward the village entrance.

She had no idea how many zombies she had killed.

Nor did she know how much time had passed.

Yan Qing’s clothes were completely soaked through, and the hand gripping the Tang blade had begun trembling.

But she did not want to fall here.

By now, she was utterly exhausted.

Sweat flowed from her hairline, across her forehead, and into her eyes. She could only blink repeatedly, not daring to wipe them with her hand, afraid of a sudden attack from the mutated zombie.

Thump, thump, thump.

Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated.

Yan Qing inwardly cursed that things were bad.

Using all her strength, she raised the Tang blade with both hands and swung backward, barely managing to block the mutated zombie’s ambush.

The mutated zombie seemed to possess some intelligence.

It had realized Yan Qing was reaching her limits and immediately launched a fierce offensive, attacking with incredible speed and ferocity. Every move was aimed to kill.

Yan Qing was now resisting purely through sheer willpower.

Not only did she have to defend against the mutated zombie’s attacks, she also had to stay wary of the ordinary zombies surrounding her.

Just as Yan Qing cut off the head of an ordinary zombie, the mutated zombie’s attack had already reached her.

Staring at the twin blades only one centimeter away from her head, her eyes filled with unwillingness.

She did not want to die!

Her revenge was not finished.

She did not want to die here.

She could not die here!

In that split second, it felt as though some kind of seed inside her body cracked open and sprouted…

Ding!

“ROAR!! ROAR!!!”

Yan Qing’s entire body became enveloped in arcs of lightning, forming a powerful and solid lightning shield around her.

When the mutated zombie’s twin blades struck the lightning shield, not only did they fail to pierce it, they were instantly counterattacked by the electricity covering its surface.

The mutated zombie’s body convulsed violently from the shock before collapsing onto the ground.

The surrounding ordinary zombies fared even worse.

The moment they touched the lightning shield, they were instantly electrocuted into charred corpses!

Yan Qing looked at the lightning shield before her, delight appearing on her face.

Wonderful!

At such a critical moment, she had awakened her lightning ability!

And it was Level Four!

Back in her previous life, she had only reached Level Two!

Looking at the mutated zombie twitching nonstop on the ground and the ordinary zombies around her, Yan Qing’s lips curled upward.

The tide of battle had completely turned.

Now…

It was her time!

“Thunderous Cataclysm!”

Yan Qing stretched out her hand and withdrew the lightning shield. She immediately unleashed a Level Three killing move. Countless lightning particles poured out from her hand, scattering around the zombies.

In an instant, every zombie turned into scorched ashes.

The mutated zombie continuously roared and rolled on the ground. After struggling for a while, it finally collapsed and stopped moving entirely.

Using her Tang blade as support, Yan Qing walked toward the mutated zombie.

She poked its corpse with the blade.

Only after confirming there was no movement did she finally relax.

She directly split the mutated zombie’s head in half with her Tang blade. Then she crouched down and reached her hand inside, searching around for a moment before pulling out a crystal-clear crystal core about two fingers wide.

After storing the crystal core into her spatial storage, she used the Tang blade to stand up, only to immediately begin dry heaving. While retching, she switched the Tang blade for an iron crutch.

During the battle earlier, she had not paid any attention to it.

But now she realized these zombies smelled unbelievably awful.

Now that the fight was over, with zombie corpses practically piled into small mountains around her, the stench of decay completely surrounded Yan Qing.

And after being electrocuted…

The rotten smell had become even more horrifyingly disgusting!

Dry heaving while leaning on the crutch, she slowly walked toward the village entrance not far away.

After only a few steps, a nearby house with its doors closed suddenly creaked open behind her.

Yan Qing immediately became alert and turned around.

She saw a middle-aged woman carefully open the door and stick out half her head, waving at her and signaling for her to come over.

Yan Qing stood there leaning on the crutch, staring at the middle-aged woman without moving.

The woman had no choice but to speak.

“Benefactor, please come over for a moment.”

Yan Qing looked at her expressionlessly while silently wondering what exactly this woman wanted.

Just as the middle-aged woman grew awkward after receiving no response, a familiar figure suddenly walked out from inside the house.

“Hello! Hello! Benefactor, we want to thank you…”

Liang Hong stood outside the doorway, continuously waving at Yan Qing and signaling her to come over.

The moment she saw Liang Hong, Yan Qing felt excitement surge through her heart.

She had come to Qingjiang Village precisely to settle accounts with Liang Hong.

Not to mention she had nearly lost her life earlier.

Seeing Liang Hong now only made her want to settle that score immediately.

After making sure the mask on her face had not fallen off, she quickly checked herself and realized there was not a single clean spot on her body.

Estimating that Liang Hong should not be able to recognize her appearance, she leaned on the crutch and slowly walked toward Liang Hong.

Before she even got close, Yan Qing had already begun thinking.

Should she rush over and kill Liang Hong now?

Or wait and kill her later?

But she was already utterly exhausted, and her ability energy had been completely depleted.

If she killed Liang Hong now…

She did not know whether she could successfully escape from the surviving villagers afterward.

And she had no idea how many survivors remained.

Just as she came within one meter of Liang Hong, another twenty or so people gradually walked out from inside the house.

There were men and women, old and young.

The oldest looked to be around sixty.

The youngest looked barely over ten months old and was still being carried in someone’s arms.

Every single one of them silently wiped away tears.

After the group came out, they stood neatly in rows and bowed deeply toward Yan Qing to express their gratitude.
