After wandering around for a bit, the two of them could only afford to buy some small toys and plushies.
Doudou held up an Ultraman figure and asked curiously, “Will there be two older brothers and one older sister?”
Bai Shu patted his head. “That’s right, you’re the youngest one.”
There were a total of four pairs. Aside from their group and Xie Xiran’s group, the other two pairs were Tian Yuewei with five-year-old Zheng Jiaxuan whose nickname was Pingping , and Liu Qing with his four-year-old daughter Liu Xiqian whose nickname was Qianqian.
Tian Yuewei was an actress in the entertainment industry who had a child during her career’s peak. Afterward, she had consistently wanted to make a comeback but never found the opportunity; this parenting variety show had given her hope of rising to fame again.
She had suffered from postpartum depression. Once she recovered, she spent her time at home raising her child, but she didn’t want to stay at home forever, so she deeply cherished this opportunity to appear on the program.
Liu Qing was a singer who was usually very busy. This time, he wanted to use the opportunity to spend more time with his daughter.
However, Qianqian did not want to stay with her dad. As soon as the livestream started and she discovered her mother wasn’t at home, she burst into tears and kept crying.
Liu Qing tried coaxing her for a long time and was starting to get flustered.
Tian Yuewei had a very good temper, but her son, Zheng Jiaxuan (Pingping), was rather unlikable.
He was completely impatient with Tian Yuewei; for every sentence she said, Pingping would snap back with two.
The viewers found it suffocating to watch.
Every other word out of his mouth was about what his dad did or what his grandparents did, completely disregarding Tian Yuewei.
Tian Yuewei was used to it, though, and simply continued coaxing him to eat.
Save me, a kid this big still needs to be coaxed to eat? Gosh, it reminds me of Doudou. Even though Doudou is little, he’s still very polite and doesn’t cause Shushu any trouble. I can’t take it, watching this brat makes my blood pressure spike. I just came over from Liu Qing’s stream, and the crying made my head buzz. Who knew my blood pressure would soar again here? I’d better go wash my eyes at the Best Actor’s stream.
Xie Xiran and Xie Zhuyi sat on opposite sides of a table, staring speechlessly at the two hundred yuan bill resting on it.
Xie Zhuyi spoke up. “I’m hungry.”
Xie Xiran rubbed the space between his eyebrows. “I’m hungry too, but can you cook?”
Xie Zhuyi widened his eyes in shock. Shouldn’t his older brother feel ashamed asking a little child a question like that?
“Didn’t you cook yesterday?” Xie Zhuyi asked in a daze.
Xie Xiran glanced at him, his eyes clearly expressing: How is that possible? “That was prepared and left in the fridge by the nanny before she departed.”
Xie Zhuyi: ……His touch of gratitude yesterday had been entirely misplaced.
He had even called his mother to tell her he got to taste his older brother’s cooking. No wonder his mom had been so shocked at the time evidently, she already knew that his brother couldn’t cook.
“Then what should we do?” Xie Zhuyi asked anxiously.
Xie Xiran leaned forward and patted his head. “It’s fine. A Mr. Fix-it will be delivering a meal soon.”
“Mr. Fix-it?”
“Mhm, or we can go see him instead,” Xie Xiran said.
The livestream viewers, who had originally just been admiring the good looks, instantly had their curiosity piqued.
Oh man, who is this Mr. Fix-it? These two look so much alike! Ten years from now, Zhuyi is going to be quite the heartthrob. Replying to the comment above: I’m curious too. Count me in. Could it be a romantic partner? I can’t accept that. I suspect that too. Xie-ge’s smile is way too charming… Turns out it wasn’t just my imagination. I felt something was off yesterday, and now he’s suddenly joining a parenting variety show is he about to drop a bombshell? Even though I know Xie-ge is at the right age, I just can’t take it right now. Can Xie-ge give us two days to buffer? Me too! Announcing it tomorrow is fine as well.
Xie Xiran’s fans panicked. They had never dared to think in that direction before, but after being dazzled by Xie Xiran’s smile just now, they snapped back to reality and realized something was wrong.
They were fans who had followed him all the way here; how could they not know Xie Xiran? When had he ever been this gentle?
And he even took the initiative to bring up a “Mr. Fix-it”?
They didn’t even dare to keep watching.
Xie Xiran said, “His house is nearby. He should be cooking something delicious right now.”
Xie Xiran secretly pulled out his phone to check Bai Shu’s livestream. As soon as he entered, he froze.
Shushu was currently riding a three-wheeled cart loaded with Doudou and a whole cart of vegetables…
Xie Xiran couldn’t sit still anymore. He grabbed his jacket, led Xie Zhuyi, and headed out the door.
Why didn’t they drive?
Xie Xiran quickly discovered the reason.
“Sorry, Best Actor Xie, your budget is only two hundred yuan, so these vehicles cannot be used.”
Xie Xiran and Xie Zhuyi stared at each other in blank dismay.
Then Xie Zhuyi went inside and wheeled out his little bicycle. “Brother, I still have a ride.”
Xie Xiran: ……
No wonder Shushu rode a tricycle; looking at Xie Zhuyi’s tiny bicycle, he finally realized that Shushu was actually quite smart.
At least he looked smarter than his own younger brother.
Unfortunately, their household didn’t own a tricycle.
Xie Xiran checked the time, changed into athletic wear, and came back down. “Follow me.”
With that, he broke into a run and headed out first.
It was one kilometer away to Shushu’s place, and he was going to run there.
Xie Zhuyi hurriedly pedaled his small bicycle to keep up.
Leaving the cameraman standing in the wind looking completely disheveled. He sucked in his stomach and wept inwardly could someone please consider his feelings?
Xie Xiran’s long legs instantly pushed the livestream into a climax.
In the frame, the man strode forward with his long legs in a remarkably standard running posture.
His chest rose and fell, and his face carried a slight flush from the exertion.
His overflowing hormones made viewers want to cover their faces and scream.
Help! Xie-ge is slaying me! Is this fan service I’m actually allowed to see? Ahhhhh I’ve turned into a screaming chicken, so handsome, so handsome! Wait a minute, ge, did you forget about Zhuyi behind you? Hahahaha Zhuyi is trying so hard to pedal his bike.
On the other side, Bai Shu was also pedaling away with all his might.
“Doudou, did you get fat again? Big brother is running out of strength to pedal.”
Bai Shu said between heavy pants.
His cheeks were flushed, and a light sheen of sweat beaded on his forehead. The return trip was entirely uphill; however happy Bai Shu had been going there, that was how much he wanted to cry right now.
Doudou was happily munching on a small snack. Hearing this, he sucked in his belly and retorted, “Doudou is not fat!”
“Then get down and walk for a bit, big brother can’t pedal anymore.” Bai Shu stopped the cart to take a break.
Doudou looked at his big brother in disbelief as the cart came to a halt. “Y-you really want Doudou to get down?”
Bai Shu got off the vehicle. “I’m just teasing. Help big brother wipe his sweat.”
Seeing how exhausted Shushu was, Doudou felt a pang of heartache and reached into his little bag to fetch a tissue.
I didn’t even notice this was an uphill slope on the way there. I almost wanted to jump into the screen to help him push it looks so exhausting. Hahahaha I rode one when I was a kid, it really is tiring, plus the farmer’s market was quite far. But Shushu’s breathing sounds so sexy. You’ve worked hard, Shushu.
Xie Xiran emerged from the street corner just in time to see Bai Shu with his red lips slightly parted, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he drank water.
An indescribable feeling welled up in his chest.
After finishing his water, Bai Shu finally managed to catch his breath. “Still haven’t found it?”
Doudou had practically shoved his entire little head into his bag, yet he still couldn’t find the wet wipes.
Doudou angrily zipped up the bag. “Doudou didn’t bring any… But, Doudou can use his clothes to wipe~”
As he spoke, he grabbed the hem of his shirt to show him, exposing a bit of his little belly.
Bai Shu hurriedly pulled it back down for him. “Never mind, I’ll just endure it for a bit.”
Right at that moment, a pair of well-articulated fingers extended a tissue toward him. “I have some here.”
Hearing a familiar voice explode right beside his ear, Bai Shu jumped back in surprise and stared at Xie Xiran in shock.
“Y-you, why are you here?” After the shock came a wave of guilt.
Oh gosh, they were still recording a show! He had just appeared in the same frame as Xie Xiran what if someone found out?
Bai Shu’s mind was completely scrambled into a mess of paste.
Xie Xiran didn’t make any out-of-line moves; his eyes simply burned with intensity. “Just passing by.”
Bai Shu: ……He didn’t believe it for a second.
Doudou looked from one to the other, then glanced back at the little boy riding his bicycle who was panting heavily from exhaustion. Finally, he reached out to take the tissue and put on a mature, adult-like persona. “Shushu, bow your head.”
Bai Shu was still spacing out, but upon hearing this, he instinctively lowered his head.
Doudou began wiping the sweat off his big brother’s face. Once finished, he neatly folded the tissue and tucked it into his own little backpack.
Then he flashed a fake smile. “Thank you, Uncle, for the tissue. It’s all Doudou’s fault for not bringing any. You really saved the day “
The little fellow looked thoroughly grateful.
The pink bubble atmosphere that had just surrounded Bai Shu and Xie Xiran was instantly shattered by that single word: Uncle.
Bai Shu: “Didn’t I tell you to call him Big Brother? You aren’t allowed to call him Uncle.”
Doudou said purposely, “But he is an uncle. He’s older than big brother.”
One “Uncle” and one mention of “older” it almost dealt a critical hit to Xie Xiran.
When Xie Zhuyi finally caught up, he found his older brother looking as though he had suffered devastating trauma.
“Older brother?”
Listening to that voice, Xie Xiran decided his younger brother was quite literally the best younger brother in the entire world, seeing as he didn’t start off by calling him “Uncle”.
Seeing Xie Xiran looking deeply wounded, Bai Shu took the initiative to smooth things over. “I’m really sorry. I’ll have a good talk with Doudou about this when we get back.”
As he spoke, the back of Bai Shu’s neck turned completely red.
Doudou called him Big Brother, yet called Xie Xiran Uncle; it left him momentarily at a loss for how to handle the awkward situation.
After recovering for a moment, Xie Xiran said, “It’s fine. Let me give you a ride back.”
Bai Shu was just about to extend an invitation anyway.
“Since that’s the case, why don’t you both stay for lunch? Aren’t you having trouble cooking over there? I bought a bit too much food.”
He had originally intended to cook extra and send some over to the Xie family anyway.
Because of Doudou’s casual “Uncle,” the two adults pushed the cart under an atmosphere of bizarre tension, carrying the two children along.
Xie Zhuyi had also been placed inside the cart bed, where he and Doudou stared at each other with wide eyes.
It feels like I just smelled the scent of a romance battlefield. Your intuition isn’t wrong. I somehow feel like Doudou did that on purpose. For some reason weren’t they meeting for the first time? [Bai Shu and Xie Xiran probably weren’t, but the kids definitely were. They aren’t familiar with each other at all. Xie-ge probably never expected he’d live to see the day a peer’s younger brother calls him Uncle. His heart must be broken. Hahahaha Xie-ge is still that same Xie-ge who cares deeply about his age. So funny, but it makes sense he’s five years older than Bai Shu and over twenty years older than Doudou. Calling him Uncle is pretty normal.
