As soon as Huo Jin Ge left, Jiang Luxi was taken to the third floor by the housekeeper. The room next to hers had been specially cleared out and converted into a temporary walk-in closet, with all the clothes from over a dozen racks earlier wheeled inside.
The housekeeper, with a kind smile on her face, guided her through the racks to find clothes she liked.
“Miss Jiang, have you found anything you like?”
Jiang Luxi still hadn’t recovered from her shock, gently running her hand over the clothes on the racks.
So one day she could actually own an entire women’s clothing store’s worth of clothes.
Holding up a pale yellow dress, she wore a faint smile. “This one will do.”
……
The entire day.
Huo Jin Ge dealt with some company matters.
He had transferred personnel from various branch offices, and they stood neatly in three rows in the office.
Huo Jin Ge didn’t even look up, his eyes scanning the text on the documents, fingers gripping a fountain pen as he signed with a flourish.
His movements were fluid, the characters bold and powerful, signing his name in cursive script at the end of each document.
Jiang Feng and Yu Yi stood guard on either side behind him.
“For the next two to three days, report any situation to me immediately.” Huo Jin Ge finished reviewing the last document and placed it on his right side.
With a snap, he capped the fountain pen and set it aside.
Everyone responded in unison: “Understood, President Huo.”
Huo Corporation’s branches were spread across various locations. To outsiders, the three brothers appeared united, so close they seemed to share everything.
But behind closed doors, no one understood better than him how exclusionary the Huo family truly was.
For over twenty years, he had never been treated as a younger brother by Huo Yao and Huo Wenshu.
They always took advantage of his illness to cause trouble.
He had grown accustomed to it.
Huo Jin Ge frowned, his expression weary, waving his hand to dismiss them. “You may leave.”
“Yes.”
The group filed out in an orderly manner, and soon the office returned to silence.
Huo Jin Ge sank back into his chair, raising a hand to massage his aching temples.
The clock on the desk ticked away until the hour hand reached 8.
Jiang Feng finally spoke up to remind him: “Master Ho, it’s getting late. We should return to the manor.”
Huo Jin Ge opened his bloodshot eyes, grunted in acknowledgment, and rose from his chair.
The next second, a familiar stabbing pain exploded in his head, as if countless invisible needles were piercing his nerves repeatedly.
The dense, overwhelming pain made it hard for him to breathe.
He staggered, his vision gradually darkening.
“Master Ho!”
“Master Ho!”
Jiang Feng and Yu Yi rushed forward in panic, each supporting one side of his swaying body.
Gritting his teeth, a fine layer of cold sweat covering his forehead, Huo Jin Ge used his last shred of rationality to utter three hoarse words: “Jiang… Luxi!”
Far away at the manor, Jiang Luxi had just finished dinner and was watching a movie in the home theater, with a fruit plate prepared in advance by the housekeeper placed beside her.
For some reason, she suddenly felt a chill, her entire spine turning cold, and even her palms breaking out in fine sweat.
She wiped her hands on her dress and looked up at the air conditioning vent above.
Muttering to herself: “Is the air conditioning turned up too high? Why did it suddenly get so cold?”
The housekeeper walked in from outside, looking at Jiang Luxi’s confused expression.
With a smile on her face, she said: “Miss, the bath is ready. Would you like to go take a bath now?”Jiang Luxi finished the last bite of fruit, stood up, and nodded: “I’ll shower.”
Just as she reached the doorway, she glanced back at the unfinished movie.
After hesitating for a moment, she said, “Don’t turn off the movie. I’ll come back to watch it after my shower.”
The housekeeper blinked twice, then smiled and nodded: “Alright.”
Only then did Jiang Luxi return to her room contentedly and take a comfortable shower.
A black Rolls-Royce stopped at the villa entrance.
Jiang Feng and another man quickly opened the rear door and hauled out Huo Jin Ge, who was nearly unconscious from pain.
Yu Yi’s expression was cold and severe as he walked, demanding: “Where’s Jiang Luxi?”
The housekeeper hurriedly answered truthfully: “The young miss is showering in her room.”
The two men took Huo Jin Ge up to the third floor via elevator and returned to his room.
Hearing the chaotic footsteps outside, Jiang Luxi knew Huo Jin Ge had returned and immediately lost interest in going out to watch the movie.
The footsteps gradually stopped outside her door, followed by a knock.
Her heart leaped into her throat again, and she instinctively reached out to turn off the light.
Jiang Feng’s expression was equally stern. Seeing the light from under the door disappear, Yu Yi lost his patience and kicked the door open.
With a loud “Bang!”
The European-style door panel wobbled helplessly before hitting the wall and going still.
Jiang Luxi sat trembling on the bed.
Her terrified eyes stared at the two figures silhouetted against the hallway light as they entered.
Without a word, the two men grabbed the woman on the bed and started dragging her down.
Jiang Luxi clung desperately to the bedpost, refusing to let go.
She screamed in panic: “What are you doing! Help!”
“You said you wouldn’t kill me!”
Had Huo Jin Ge changed his mind?
Was he a sore loser?
Jiang Feng frowned in confusion. What nonsense was she spouting now?
Had this woman’s condition flared up again?
He patiently coaxed her: “We’re not killing you. We’re taking you somewhere fun.”
Somewhere fun? What kind of dangerous talk was that?
Yu Yi began prying her fingers off the bedpost one by one. Once freed, the two men immediately lifted her up, ignoring how her legs flailed wildly in the air.
They strode quickly to Huo Jin Ge’s door.
As the door opened, a cold draft swept through, making Jiang Luxi shrink back and tuck in her neck.
They set her down on the floor, and someone gave her a hard push on the back.
Stumbling forward, Jiang Luxi was shoved into the room as the door closed mercilessly behind her.
She rushed to the door, pounding on it helplessly: “Let me out! What do you want from me!”
The room was dark, but she could faintly hear ragged breathing.
Jiang Luxi hugged her arms, her back pressed against the door, her bare feet crossed nervously.
The next moment, she felt a large hand wrap around her waist, followed by a clean, crisp scent enveloping her completely.
Huo Jin Ge’s last shred of rationality had allowed him to note Jiang Luxi’s position the moment the door opened.
Every hair on Jiang Luxi’s body stood on end. The man leaned his full weight against her, immobilizing her completely.
She let out a sharp cry, pushing against the person before her: “Get away from me!”
“Huo Jin Ge, what do you want!”
Squinting through the moonlight streaming through the window, Huo Jin Ge vaguely made out her moving red lips.
Why so noisy?
This woman was nothing but trouble.Huo Jin Ge restrained her two restless hands, effortlessly raising them above her head. In the next second, aiming at that incessantly chattering mouth, he lowered his head and fiercely covered it.
He bit down with his mouth.
The clamorous noise finally ceased.
