“Nan Fei, what perfume are you wearing? It’s so strong.”
Lin Runxin sat beside Nan Fei and asked.
“It’s precisely because it’s strong—it can cover up the smell of humans.” Nan Fei replied casually.
Everyone who had been chatting turned to look at her at once.
Meeting all their gazes, Nan Fei raised a faint eyebrow. “You’ll know tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Guan Kaiwen, who usually mocked and disdained her, suddenly chimed in repeatedly in agreement.
Nan Fei understood his intention. He was likely trying to make up for the fact that he had a share in her injury—though not the main cause—and because of that, he was now being isolated by the group. He wanted to compensate her to improve his own standing.
As for how she knew, just looking at how the others distanced themselves from him made it obvious.
But what happened that day had little to do with Guan Kaiwen. The main issue was that someone had noticed her poor condition and taken the opportunity to use underhanded tactics against her.
Although Guan Kaiwen wasn’t the cause, his attitude that day had still annoyed her. Since he was only trying to avoid isolation, she would simply remain indifferent to his attentiveness.
As for his earlier mockery before she was scratched, Nan Fei wasn’t the original host of this body, so she didn’t feel those insults were directed at her personally.
Besides, the hostility everyone showed toward the original owner had likely been deliberately provoked by certain people.
Thinking of this, Nan Fei looked toward Zhou Wenqian.
Zhou Wenqian probably didn’t expect her to look over, and for a moment was caught off guard—her eyes met Nan Fei’s directly.
Jealousy and resentment were clearly exposed in her gaze.
A controller of zombies? Could it be her?
Nan Fei didn’t look away, studying her carefully.
Guan Kaiwen had been paying attention to Nan Fei the whole time. Seeing her look at Zhou Wenqian, he also followed her gaze almost instinctively.
Zhou Wenqian’s emotions were fully seen by him as well.
But the next moment, those emotions vanished, as if what he had seen was an illusion.
“Nan Fei, did you see—”
Guan Kaiwen asked in confusion, but met Nan Fei’s calm, steady gaze.
She gave no answer.
To put it bluntly, Guan Kaiwen only wanted to avoid being isolated. Expecting him to believe that the outwardly gentle and kind Zhou Wenqian had a completely different side behind the scenes was even harder than climbing a mountain.
As for what happened after she first transmigrated into this body, he was even less likely to believe it.
Nan Fei couldn’t be bothered to explain.
Simply put, you cannot convince someone who doesn’t believe you—even if you explain it ten thousand times, they still won’t believe it.
That night, Nan Fei lay on the ground, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Her consciousness quietly entered the space. Compared to the chaotic supermarket, the villa in the space was practically paradise.
Unfortunately, paradise didn’t have a bed.
Nan Fei became even more determined to put a bed inside the space.
But a bed alone wasn’t enough—she needed to be able to enter the space with her physical body.
Opening the upgrade panel, the option for bringing her body into the space required 3,000 energy points.
She checked other options. Upgrading both physical entry and villa expansion together required 5,000 energy points.
Separately, either physical entry or villa expansion each cost 3,000 energy points.
At first glance, it seemed cost-effective.
That was before she saw the full space upgrade: 20,000 energy points.
It included expanded land around the villa, a four-story building upgrade, and a newly added time-stopped storage room.
As for physical entry—it was a free bonus.
She didn’t really need the expansion; what she had was enough for now. But that time-stopped storage room… was very tempting.
She checked, and apart from full space upgrades, there was no separate purchase option for the storage room.
20,000 energy points = 20,000 level-1 crystals20,000 level-1 crystals = 200 level-2 crystals200 level-2 crystals = 2 level-3 crystals
Suddenly, two level-3 crystals didn’t seem so far away.
But she knew that right now, the strongest zombies she could encounter were level 2. Level 3… if she ran into one, she would only be able to flee.
Nan Fei temporarily abandoned the idea.
Her consciousness left the space, and at some point she drifted into sleep.
The next morning.
A sound woke Nan Fei abruptly. She sat up instantly.
Across several checkout counters, Yu Yang stuck his head out, eyes wide.
“Girl, you nearly scared me to death this early in the morning.”
His tone was full of complaint.
Nan Fei glanced at him, her slightly upturned eyes carrying a hint of coldness.
“Hiss, freezing,” Yu Yang muttered.
“What’s freezing?”
Yu Hong, beside him, straightened up and asked in confusion.
“Nothing.”
Yu Yang shook his head and got up.
Rustling sounds woke the others one after another.
Nan Fei had already recovered, calmly organizing her things.
Since she hadn’t taken the drinks, the supermarket still had plenty of water. They didn’t need Zhou Wenqian to supply it, so everyone managed to wash up a bit.
Nan Fei bit into a soft piece of bread, her striking face calm.
“Here, water.”
Yu Yang placed a bottle of yogurt on the counter beside her.
Lin Runxin leaned over. “What’s wrong with you? Didn’t you used to hate when I tried to curry favor with her? Now you’re doing it yourself?”
Yu Yang ignored him and continued handing out yogurt.
After breakfast, everyone packed their bags and prepared to leave the mall.
Because they were finally leaving the zombie nest, and had collected plenty of supplies without incident, everyone looked visibly excited.
At the stairwell, Nan Fei suddenly remembered the mess on the first floor…
“Fei Fei, was it already like this when you came down?”
Zhou Wenqian suddenly asked.
Nan Fei understood immediately—she was being suspected.
“No, otherwise where do you think I got this perfume from?”
She said casually, pulling out the perfume bottle and spraying it on herself.
Qin Ze glanced at her.
Nan Fei thought he was suspecting something, but instead he said, “Stop spraying. It’s too strong.”
“Strong is fine. It saves your life.”
She said, spraying it on others as well.
Since their goal was to leave the mall, she might as well reduce trouble for everyone.
Guan Kaiwen followed her lead obediently, even though it stung his nose badly.
Qin Ze frowned slightly, looking at her with dissatisfaction.
Nan Fei put the perfume away and stepped toward the zombies at the mall entrance.
What usually would have gone berserk at the slightest scent of flesh… showed no reaction at all, even subtly retreating.
“Works this well?” Lin Runxin exclaimed, quickly following.
The others followed one after another, drawn by curiosity—even Zhou Wenqian and Wang Qingqing, despite their dislike of Nan Fei.
Only Qin Ze and Yu Hong remained where they were for a moment.
“Let’s go,” Yu Hong said.
They followed.
Eight people moved forward, and the mixed scent of perfume created a “safe zone” among the zombies.
Nan Fei led them out.
Once again seeing the sky, its blue was strikingly vivid.
A breeze passed, stirring something deep in their hearts.
Outside the mall, there were far more zombies than inside, clustered densely together, adding a sense of danger.
“Which way?” Nan Fei asked Qin Ze.
Qin Ze said nothing and walked directly to the right.
The mall was part of a larger plaza. To the left was a snack street; to the right was the exit direction.
There were many taxis stuck along the road, unusable.
Qin Ze led them along the roadside. Twenty minutes later, the group finally moved far away from the central plaza area.
