Day 23 – Yusuf’s Voice

“Zeynep!”

The echo rang off the walls, then silence swallowed the whole place for a moment. Zeynep froze. Her eyes darted around. The woman was gone. As if she had never been there. Only the words she had spoken remained in her mind:Full novel: BORN THROUGH THE DARKNESS — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

> “One who walks to her heart, draws closer to her Lord.”

Zeynep hadn’t just heard the voice—she had felt it in her heart. It was Yusuf’s voice... But how? From where? Was it real, or just an illusion?

Suddenly, the newly opened stone passage widened a little more. A faint light seeped from within. Zeynep hesitated. But hearing Yusuf’s name, remembering him, had unlocked a long-forgotten room in her heart.

She stepped inside.

Beyond the door was a world unlike any she had seen before. On the walls hung old maps, worn prayer rugs covered the floor, and oil lamps glowed in the corners. This seemed to be a place where people once prayed. A place for the broken-hearted—those who bent, but did not break.

Straight ahead stood a table…

On it, a small notebook. Its cover was a faded navy blue, the edges slightly worn.

Zeynep picked it up. She opened it.

The handwriting inside was familiar. Shaky, but known.

> “Don’t forget me. I added your name to every prayer. Zeynep.

Your existence became my hope in your absence.

If you’ve come this far, know that you’ve also become an answer.

And answers are not only given to the silent ones,

But also to those who wait.

Yusuf.”

Zeynep’s hands trembled. It was Yusuf’s handwriting.

The same script from the notes he wrote her as a child…

The same pause marks…

The same “Z.”

Tears fell onto the pages. So much time had passed, Yusuf had disappeared; yet she had never realized that maybe he had also been praying in the hidden corners of his heart.

On the final page of the notebook was a symbol. It looked like an old seal.

Beneath it, only one sentence:

> “The second key is where you forgot.”

Zeynep looked up from the notebook. She began to scan the room carefully.

Then suddenly, in the corner, she noticed an old doll left on the floor.

That doll…

It was the one Zeynep had given Yusuf when they were children.

Her heart pounded in her chest.

The doll was dirty and worn, but a red ribbon tied around its neck still remained.

Tucked inside the ribbon was a small piece of paper.

Zeynep slowly unfolded it.

> “I waited for you where you left me.

Now that I’ve found you, I will be silent.

Because sometimes, silence is the loudest prayer.”

Her vision blurred for a moment.

What if this was real?

What if Yusuf was still alive?

Or… was this all a farewell?

Just then, footsteps echoed outside the door.

Someone was approaching.

Zeynep held her breath.

To be continued…
