Rayan.
The moment I saw him, all the memories from the day came rushing back.
Because of him, Chloe wasn’t talking to me.
Anger rushed through me as I walked toward him.
“What do you think of yourself?” I asked, pointing my finger at him.
“Just because you wrote ‘NEXT TARGET’ on my desk, do you think I’m afraid of you?
I’m not afraid of you, Mr.
Rayan Cole.” But he remained calm.
“What happened?” I heard a voice.
I turned my head toward the owner of the voice and quickly recognized her.
She was the woman I had saved from the accident.
“Did he bother you?” she asked.
“Grandma,” Rayan said.
Grandma?
Is she his grandmother?
She looked between the two of us.
“Why are you looking so angry?” she asked.
Then she turned toward Rayan.
“She is a nice girl.
I know her.
She was the one who saved me from that accident.” Rayan’s eyes shifted toward me.
“Dear, why don’t you have dinner with us?
We are going to a restaurant.” “No, ma’am.
I’m okay.” “You can call me Grandma,” she said with a smile.
“Consider this my way of thanking you for saving me that day.” “Umm…” I hesitated for a moment before nodding.
“Okay.” “Let’s go then,” she said happily.
Rayan opened the car door for his grandmother, and she sat in the back seat.
Soon, we were all inside the car.
“Well, how do you two know each other?” Grandma asked.
As I was about to answer— “We’re friends,” Rayan said.
“That’s very good,” Grandma said happily.
Then she turned toward me.
“Dear, if he ever troubles you, call me.
I’ll make sure he gets punished.” I smiled.
“Okay, Grandma.” As soon as I said that, Rayan shot me an angry look.
I ignored him.
Soon, we stopped in front of a huge restaurant.
The restaurant looked even more beautiful from the inside.
We took our seats.
“Let’s order,” Grandma said.
I opened the menu.
Every dish was expensive.
It’s not like my family was poor, but they were certainly much richer than us.
After placing our orders, I couldn’t help but notice something.
Rayan was behaving completely differently in front of his grandmother.
After some time, the food we had ordered arrived.
“Well, dear, when did you meet him?” Grandma asked, turning toward me.
I looked at her, confused for a moment.
“I mean, how did you two become friends?” she asked again.
I looked toward Rayan, not knowing how to answer.
“We met at the university,” Rayan said before I could speak.
“Then we became friends.” Grandma smiled.
“That’s wonderful.” Then she turned toward me.
“You know, dear, Rayan is very soft-hearted.
He may seem strong from the outside, but he’s actually very soft from the inside.” I was so shocked to hear that.
Did she not know her grandson at all?
I turned toward him.
He could never be a soft-hearted person.
He only knows how to ruin other people’s lives.
“Grandma,” he said, his face full of annoyance.
Maybe he didn’t like what his grandma was saying.
“Well, dear, are you single?” Grandma asked.
I looked at her in confusion.
Why was she asking me that?
“Yes,” I said after a pause.
“That’s good,” Grandma said.
“Grandma,” Rayan said again.
“What?
I am just asking,” she said.
But for some reason, she looked very happy to know that I was single.
I didn’t understand why.
