The rest of the dinner was peaceful.
To be honest, Ryan’s grandmother was really sweet, and I really enjoyed spending time with her.
After dinner, they dropped me home, but as I was about to step out of the car, I heard a voice.
“Thank you.” I turned around only to find Ryan looking nervous.
A smile appeared on my face.
Seeing him like this, I wondered if he had ever thanked someone before.
“For what?” I asked, trying to hide my smile.
“For saving my grandma,” he said.
Then he turned toward her.
She was sleeping peacefully in the back seat.
“That mattered a lot to me.” I saw something in his eyes as he looked at his grandmother.
Love.
Care.
I just kept staring at him.
I couldn’t believe this was the same Ryan who loved bullying people and making other people’s lives hell.
“But don’t think I forgot everything you did,” he said coldly.
There he is.
The Ryan I know.
I stepped out of the car, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this side of Ryan.
I don’t know which one is real.
I then stepped out of the car and was about to enter my house when I saw my mother standing there, watching me.
I went toward her.
“Who was the guy you came with?” she asked in a serious tone.
“He was my friend,” I said, as I didn’t want to tell her the truth.
“Okay, let’s go.
Dinner is ready,” she said.
“I already had my dinner, Mom.
You go and eat.” I said that and then turned and walked to my room.
So many things had happened in one day.
After freshening up, I went to bed.
The next morning, after getting ready for university, I went downstairs, only to find my parents looking very stressed.
What happened?
The problem isn’t resolved yet.
I sighed quietly.
I wish I could do something to solve their problem.
I then walked toward the dining table.
They smiled as soon as they saw me.
We then started having our breakfast.
“What’s the name of your friend?” my father asked after a few minutes.
I looked at him in confusion.
“Which friend?” I asked cluelessly.
“The one who came to drop you yesterday.” “Oh.” “Ryan,” I replied after a slight hesitation.
I hoped they wouldn’t ask more questions about him.
Why can’t they just forget about it?
“Why don’t you invite your friend for dinner someday?” my mother said.
I turned toward them, confused.
I hope they aren’t getting the wrong idea about him, I thought.
“Okay,” I said awkwardly.
Well…
Mom started to say something.
“I am done,” I said, cutting her off.
I didn’t want to talk more about Ryan.
“But you haven’t finished your breakfast,” Mom said.
“Mom, I am full,” I replied.
“I am going now.” Saying that, I quickly left the house.
I don’t know what happened to them.
After a few minutes of walking, I reached the university.
As I entered the classroom, my eyes automatically started searching for Chloe.
Seeing her sitting with her new group of friends, a sad smile appeared on my face.
I then went to my seat.
A few minutes later, the professor entered the classroom and started teaching.
I put my full focus on my studies.
I can’t let these things affect my studies.
Lunch Break I went to the cafeteria.
After taking my food on a tray, I turned around, searching for a place where I could sit.
Most of the tables were occupied.
My eyes then fell on an empty table.
I was walking past a group of girls when suddenly one of them stuck her foot out in front of me.
Before I could understand what was happening, I tripped and fell to the floor.
When I turned toward her, she smiled and said, “Sorry, it was a mistake.” But I knew it wasn’t a mistake.
She had done it deliberately.
As I was about to stand up, I heard a voice.
“What is happening here?” I turned my head toward the owner of the voice.
My eyes widened in surprise.
Ryan’s grandmother was standing there.
“Grandma?” I whispered.
