When Du Kangan saw Bai Zhou’s new message, his heart skipped a beat.

His father had indeed told him to get close to Bai Zhou, to use him and obtain the new research proposal from Chi Shuyi’s company.

That was the task he had been given. But even so, his feelings for Bai Zhou were real. From the very first day Bai Zhou entered the school, Du Kangan’s eyes had followed him everywhere.Full novel: Cannon fodder accidentally became a heartthrob [Quick Wear] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Those few side-profile photos of Bai Zhou that had been posted on the campus forum were already his phone wallpaper, and he looked at them again and again as if they were treasures.

If Bai Zhou really managed to help him get the research documents, then later, when he wanted to marry Bai Zhou, his father would probably not object anymore.

He told himself that this was all for their future. It could not be considered manipulation.

Of course, Bai Zhou knew nothing about any of this, which was why that message… could it be that Bai Zhou was flirting with him?

Du Kangan pressed a hand over his pounding heart. Today, once again, he was completely defeated by Bai Zhou.

Du Kangan: [Steal my heart!]

Du Kangan: [Heart Beam gif]]

Bai Zhou stared at the enormous, glittering heart on his screen, his small head full of confusion.

They were discussing serious matters. Why was this guy suddenly sending nonsense like this?

Du Kangan: [Are you free this weekend? I heard there’s a really good movie out right now! Do you want to go watch it together?]

Du Kangan: [Or any other day is fine too, I’m always available!]

Du Kangan: [Heart Wave. gif]

Bai Zhou finally understood. This must be the part of the plot where Du Kangan was supposed to woo him, confuse him with affection, and then lure him into committing “a crime” against Chi Shuyi.

He decided to skip this unnecessary process entirely and move straight to the “crime” part.

After all, the mission only said to help Du Kangan obtain the documents. It never specified how he had to do it.

Bai Zhou felt rather proud of himself for finding such a neat little loophole. The corners of his lips curved upward in satisfaction.

Bai Zhou: [All right, I understand.]

Bai Zhou: [You want me to help you steal Shuyi-ge’s files, right?]

Bai Zhou: [Meet me at Building Fifteen on Monday. I’ll bring the materials.]

Du Kangan, who had just been searching online for first date tips, froze.

What was going on? How had things progressed this far so quickly?

Could it be that his father had already contacted Bai Zhou behind his back? Was that why Bai Zhou accepted him so easily?

He put his phone down, feeling a strange mix of disappointment and happiness. He did not know whether he should be glad or sad.

Bai Zhou, on the other hand, didn’t think much about it. Whatever Du Kangan thought was his own business. His task was simply to hand the materials over. Whether Du Kangan used them or not, or whether he believed they were real, that was up to him.

Besides, this was not exactly a glorious thing to do. The less Du Kangan believed him, the better.

Chi Shuyi had said he would come to pick him up on Saturday. Perfect. Bai Zhou could use that opportunity to get the files, and by Monday, he could deliver them to Du Kangan.

Mission Four would then be complete.

Mission Three had already given him five hundred points, bringing his total progress toward awakening in reality to seven hundred out of ten thousand.

Once he completed Mission Four and Five, the rewards would definitely be much greater.

Bai Zhou felt his motivation surge back instantly, so strong he almost wanted to jump up and start working right away.

A light knock knock sounded at his bedside.

Bai Zhou peeked out from the curtain, and sure enough, it was Fu Linyi.

“Take your medicine before you sleep.”

Fu Linyi stood at the side of the bed holding a cup of warm water and a few tablets, looking at him with those big, pitiful eyes.

Bai Zhou touched his forehead. “The fever’s already gone.”

“Does your throat still hurt?”

“Just a little bit.” Bai Zhou squinted and pinched his fingers together to show a tiny distance.

Fu Linyi didn’t budge. “Be good and take the medicine. If it gets worse, you’ll have to get an injection.”

He actually dared to threaten him!

Bai Zhou glared. Was he really someone who could be threatened so easily?

With his eyes shut, he craned his neck, shoved the medicine into his mouth, and swallowed it down with the warm water. Then, with lightning speed, he reached out and grabbed a handful of Fu Linyi’s hair.

Anyone who dared to threaten the mighty Zhouzhou King had to pay a price!

Fu Linyi always looked at him with those soft, doglike eyes. Bai Zhou had wanted to test how his hair felt for a long time, but he’d never had the courage.

This time he finally did it.

Before Fu Linyi could react, Bai Zhou yanked the curtain closed again and burrowed under his blanket, leaving only his bright eyes peeking out.

“All right, I’m going to sleep! You can leave now!”

Fu Linyi stood outside for a moment, raising his hand to touch his hair, which Bai Zhou had just messed up. His Adam’s apple bobbed once.

Damn. Why did that feel even better than being slapped?

Was he seriously that much of a masochist?

Bai Zhou didn’t have much strength, but that sudden tug still hurt a little. And yet the pain was faint, almost insignificant, completely overshadowed by the lingering warmth of Bai Zhou’s fingers and the faint fragrance that came with his touch.

That tiny sting left Fu Linyi standing there for ten full minutes, replaying the sensation over and over in his mind.

Bai Zhou waited for a while, but when he didn’t hear him leave, he opened a small gap in the curtain to peek out, only for a large hand to sneak in through the opening first.

Thinking Fu Linyi was trying to take advantage of him, Bai Zhou didn’t hesitate to smack the hand down.

The big hand froze, then turned over and gently pinched Bai Zhou’s fingers, as if coaxing him. A moment later, it placed a few White Rabbit milk candies into his palm.

Childish. He wasn’t afraid of bitter medicine anymore.

Bai Zhou gave a small huff, unwrapped one candy and popped it into his mouth, then rummaged through his little “treasure box” to find his favorite bag of chips. He shoved the chips into that stubborn hand that still refused to leave and pushed it out through the curtain.

Fu Linyi looked down at the bag of chips in his palm, unable to stop the smile tugging at his lips.

He’s so cute, and his heart is so soft. How could Zhouzhou ever survive without him?

People always say they live for the weekend. Bai Zhou had spent all week counting down to Saturday, but when it finally arrived, he found himself hesitating.

He stared at the message on his phone from Chi Shuyi, feeling oddly nervous.

Chi Shuyi: [Come downstairs.]

Bai Zhou sucked in a quiet breath.

He wouldn’t hit him, right?

Because if he did, Bai Zhou could fight back.

Yes, he had made a mistake, but still, gentlemen use words, not fists. He chose to believe that the story’s main character, the noble Shuyi, was a proper and decent man.

Meanwhile, Fu Linyi lay on his bed, chin resting on his arms, watching Bai Zhou pack a small backpack. He didn’t even need to ask to know that Bai Zhou was going to see that man surnamed Chi again.

He had no idea what kind of spell that man had cast, but Bai Zhou always trusted him far too easily.

If they weren’t love rivals, Fu Linyi thought bitterly, he might have actually signed up for one of Chi Shuyi’s classes himself.

Fu Linyi looked like a helpless househusband watching his husband go out to meet a lover, his eyes full of hurt and resignation. In the end, all he could say was, “Come back early.”

Bai Zhou nodded, gathering what little courage he had before heading downstairs.

Whether it was coincidence or fate, Chi Shuyi was wearing the exact same white shirt he had worn that day.

Bai Zhou instantly felt guilty. He lowered his head and shuffled over in small steps, voice meek and obedient. “Brother Shuyi.”

Chi Shuyi had been simmering with anger for a whole week, but the moment he saw the boy, half of it vanished. The proud little tyrannosaurus who used to bare his fangs now looked pitiful and tame.

He called out softly, his voice full of unease, and his clear eyes kept darting up in secret glances, though he thought he was being subtle, Chi Shuyi saw every bit of it.

Any trace of anger was gone, even replaced by a reluctant amusement. So now he knows how to be guilty? Where was that sense of guilt when he was doing something bad?

Just thinking of what Bai Zhou had done last week made Chi Shuyi’s teeth itch. It was bad enough that the boy went out to find someone else, but to actually call him over to watch?

Did he really think he had the heart of a saint, that he would generously help Bai Zhou keep both of the Fu brothers, letting him enjoy the pleasure of having lovers in pairs?

He was dreaming. The dynasty might as well have ended that very morning.

Chi Shuyi decided it was his own fault for neglecting the boy too much before. Somehow, Bai Zhou had learned how to infuriate people without even realizing it.

Fortunately, he still knew how to feel guilty. At least he hadn’t gone completely astray. If Bai Zhou had dared to show up with a righteous, unashamed face, Chi Shuyi would have seen black on the spot and dragged him off to get married, first use the law to tie him down, then teach him properly afterward.

Though he thought all this, his expression remained calm and cool. He simply gave a quiet “hm,” showing that he hadn’t completely forgiven him yet.

Seeing that Chi Shuyi didn’t look like he was going to hit him, Bai Zhou finally let out a sigh of relief and followed him into the car.

But as it turned out, he relaxed a little too soon.

Because even if a gentleman doesn’t use his hands, he can still use his mouth.

The moment they stepped into the apartment, Bai Zhou was suddenly pulled into a tight embrace and pressed into the corner.

A fierce, storm-like kiss descended upon him, urgent and overwhelming, as if the man wanted to drown him entirely in the whirlpool of his own desire.

Chi Shuyi pried open the boy’s teeth with practiced skill, deepening the kiss again and again, refusing to give Bai Zhou even a moment to breathe.

The man’s rough hands slid beneath Bai Zhou’s T-shirt, caressing the smooth skin of his back while holding him tightly in his arms.

Bai Zhou lifted his hands, grabbing the man’s hair in a desperate attempt to steal a breath of air. But Chi Shuyi only seemed to take pleasure in teasing him, he retreated slightly, only to linger at Bai Zhou’s lips, gently biting at the soft flesh with his teeth.

His lips traced the outline of the boy’s mouth, again and again, as if memorizing every curve. Then, finally, he bit down firmly, leaving a faint red mark.

There was no blood, but the lips were swollen, tender, and pitifully flushed. Chi Shuyi’s heart softened; he kissed the spot again and again as if to soothe it.

That was when Bai Zhou suddenly kicked him away.

“You! You bit me!”

Bai Zhou clutched at his mouth, his pale face tinged pink from the man’s kisses. His eyes shimmered with tears that hadn’t quite fallen, and he glared at Chi Shuyi in mock anger. It was not intimidating at all, if anything, it only stirred up more dangerous tenderness in the man’s chest.

“Should I not have?”

Chi Shuyi braced his hands against the wall on either side of Bai Zhou, lowering his head so his dark gaze fell on the boy’s swollen lips. “Hmm?”

Bai Zhou turned his head away, refusing to speak.

Chi Shuyi leaned closer again, gathering the boy into his arms. His cheek brushed against Bai Zhou’s red mouth, pretending that the boy was the one kissing him. He soothed himself that way, and once his anger had melted away, he started to feel guilty again, thinking he might have bitten too hard.

Even when Bai Zhou pushed him away in protest, Chi Shuyi wasn’t angry. He only kissed the boy’s puffed cheeks, murmuring in a low voice, “Do you know you were wrong?”

Bai Zhou’s lips still stung from the bite. He was in pain, still angry, and when he heard that, he gave a short, cold laugh.

“What mistake? I tell you, this is just how I am, ah! Chi Shuyi! You! you! you actually dared!!”

He had actually spanked him!

From childhood to now, no one had ever laid a hand on him like that. Bai Zhou’s face flushed a furious shade of red, equal parts shock and outrage.

Unforgivable! He lashed out with hands, feet, and even teeth, determined to fight to the death even if it meant mutual destruction. But in the end, Chi Shuyi simply threw him over his shoulder and carried him into the bedroom.

The man strode in, kicked the door shut with one foot, and tossed the wriggling boy onto the bed.

Holding the boy’s delicate ankle, he pulled downward until Bai Zhou was completely pinned beneath him.

The boy, lying there, had no awareness of his disadvantage at all. Instead, his eyes lit up as if he’d found a chance for revenge. He wrapped his arms around Chi Shuyi’s neck and sank his teeth into his shoulder.

Chi Shuyi grunted softly but didn’t move, letting him bite as long as he pleased. When Bai Zhou finally released him, he only lifted a hand to gently wipe the corner of the boy’s mouth.

“Zhouzhou,” he murmured, voice low and deep, “do you know why I’ve never gone all the way with you?”

So it was not misunderstanding 😢 Damn! This mission isn’t easy.. Might land Bai Zhau into trouble
