The man’s voice was low, almost gentle, yet the emotion in his pale eyes betrayed nothing but raw desire and possessiveness, swirling there like a storm he made no effort to hide.

Bai Zhou’s anger, which had been burning only moments ago, gradually faded. It was only then that he began to sense something was off. The air between them had grown heavy, charged with something dangerous.

The fingers he had raised in defiance slowly retracted, hesitating midair before curling back toward his palm.Full novel: Cannon fodder accidentally became a heartthrob [Quick Wear] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He said nothing. His long lashes trembled slightly as he blinked, those watery eyes turning soft and innocent, as though the fierce, commanding general from moments before had vanished entirely. Inch by inch.

Bai Zhou tried to edge away, lowering himself as if hoping to slip out of that perilous atmosphere unnoticed.

Chi Shuyi found himself amused by the boy’s sudden timidity. With an easy motion, he caught Bai Zhou’s wrist and drew him close again, pressing his forehead against the youth’s shoulder. A low laugh escaped his throat, quiet but rich with amusement.

“What’s this? Where did all that fire go?” he teased softly, his tone carrying both warmth and danger.

His fingers found their way to Bai Zhou’s waist, giving it a light squeeze. His breath, hot and unsteady, brushed against the side of Bai Zhou’s ear, making the sensitive skin there tremble. The sight was so delicate, so unbearably tempting, that it stirred something deeper in him.

Just as the tension in the air seemed about to dissolve, just as Bai Zhou dared to breathe again, the man’s next words dragged him right back into the eye of the storm.

“I always thought the two of us would get married one day,” Chi Shuyi said quietly, his voice a deep murmur that seemed to sink straight into Bai Zhou’s bones. “Something so important… I wanted to save it for our wedding night.”

He paused briefly, eyes narrowing with fondness as he added, almost reverently,

“Our bridal night.”

Bai Zhou froze.

Chi Shuyi lifted a hand, his thumb brushing along Bai Zhou’s cheek in a slow, deliberate motion, forcing the boy to meet his gaze. All the emotions that he had kept hidden, his desire, his yearning, his certainty, were laid bare in that look.

“But now,” he murmured, “it doesn’t feel so certain anymore.”

He leaned forward, brushing a light kiss against the corner of Bai Zhou’s lips, the gentleness of the touch at odds with the tension that hung between them. Then, in that same calm, velvety voice, he asked, “Zhouzhou, do you think we’ll get married?”

His tone was still soft, as if no matter what answer he received, he would accept it without complaint. But in his eyes, those light-colored eyes that never wavered, something darker shimmered beneath the surface, something dangerous.

If Bai Zhou said yes, he was certain Chi Shuyi would drag him straight to the registry office and have the marriage certificate printed before he could blink.

If he said no, judging by the heat burning in the man’s gaze and the unmistakable pressure against his thigh, Bai Zhou had no doubt he would lose far more than his composure before the night was over.

This wasn’t a question at all. It was a trap, one that could only end badly for him, no matter how he answered.

How was he supposed to handle a question like that?

When faced with a problem he couldn’t solve, Bai Zhou did what any sensible person would do. He turned to his system.

[Come on, System, your turn. You answer it, he pleaded silently.]

The system fell silent for a moment before replying flatly, [Put him to sleep]

Bai Zhou blinked. [You sure that’s going to work?]

System: 【…How about I knock him out with electricity for you?】

Bai Zhou didn’t want to be taken to a lab to be tested on whether he was a Pikachu, especially since he needed Chi Shuyi’s presence to retrieve the document.

In the original story, Chi Shuyi was wary of the original owner and thus didn’t fall for the trick but now, looking at the man in front of him who seemed to be under the influence of catnip, Bai Zhou inexplicably felt that he wouldn’t be wary of him.

Bai Zhou needed to complete the mission but he didn’t want to actually hurt Chi Shuyi.

Therefore, he planned to take it openly and honestly, right under Chi Shuyi’s nose, at least to let him know which document he was taking so he could have a countermeasure.

“What are you thinking about?”

The man noticed the boy’s absent-mindedness, his eyes dangerously narrowed as he leaned closer, his large hand sliding down the boy’s loose shorts leg, giving his soft buttocks a light pat.

Bai Zhou snapped back to reality, his face flushed, and he covered his buttocks with both hands, kicking the man’s large hand away.

How could he not lose money! He might as well bankrupt him! Next time Bai Zhou wore shorts, he’d be a dog!

Bai Zhou even suspected that the system had given him an abridged version of the storyline, otherwise how could such a pure and innocent love story have been ruined like this in his case!

“Still haven’t thought it through?”

Chi Shuyi said, lifting his hand and taking off his shirt, revealing his muscular physique. “Then I’ll give you one more chance. Admit your mistake now, and then explain what happened last week.”

Admitting the mistake was fine, but explaining it wouldn’t work.

Bai Zhou lowered his head and mumbled almost a whispered “I’m sorry.”

Then he drew a circle on the bed, trying to curse Chi Shuyi to take a good nap.

Chi Shuyi hummed in agreement and pulled Bai Zhou, who was engrossed in planting mushrooms, onto his lap. “What about an explanation?”

“I already apologized to you.”

Bai Zhou looked up, meeting the man’s light brown eyes with a reproachful expression, half-accusingly saying, “Besides, you’ve been kissing me for ages, why isn’t it over yet?”

Chi Shuyi almost laughed; now he was the one being teased, but seeing the boy’s furrowed brows, which looked like he was being pleaded for attention, he still leaned in affectionately and kissed him.

“Then promise it won’t happen again.”

Bai Zhou couldn’t guarantee that; Mission Five hadn’t even been completed yet. So, pretending not to hear, he told Chi Shuyi his mouth hurt and urged him to get him some ice.

Chi Shuyi almost immediately saw through the boy’s clumsy trick, but didn’t call him out.

He took another step back and revealed his long-laid-out true intention.

“I bought a house near your school. It faces south, which I think you’ll like. Move in with me next week.”

Layer upon layer, Bai Zhou had glossed over so many previous statements. If Chi Shuyi dared to refuse again after this concession, Bai Zhou’s backside would probably be in real trouble.

This foreshadowing was practically a blatant declaration: after refusing so many previous statements, you can’t refuse me now! Bai Zhou blinked, trying to bargain, “How about next semester?” Chi Shuyi smiled gently, subtly pushing upwards.

“Next month!”

Before the man could refuse, Bai Zhou suddenly hugged him, rubbing his face against the man’s neck.

“Next month, next month, next month!”

Chi Shuyi could never resist Bai Zhou.

Even though he had already decided not to back down, he still raised his hand to ruffle the boy’s hair and hummed in agreement.

“After you graduate, we’ll get married.”

This time it wasn’t a question.

Bai Zhou didn’t answer, because he figured the man would be out by then.

He didn’t know if the man was satisfied with Bai Zhou’s performance today.

If he wasn’t satisfied, he still let Bai Zhou off the hook, preventing his little butt from suffering.

To say he was satisfied is an understatement; he’d locked the boy in the bedroom and tormented him until dawn. Bai Zhou’s fair skin was now covered in suggestive red marks from head to toe.

Especially his groin, which was a deep, almost dripping red.

On the soft bed, almost every breath the man let out caused the boy’s flushed skin to tremble. His slender arms obscured half his face, leaving only his limpid eyes visible.

“What are you panting for?! What’s there to pant for?! This is endless!”

Bai Zhou bit his lower lip tightly, trying to suppress the same shameful sounds he made as the man.

But the faint, kitten-like whimpers only excited the man more.

“Zhouzhou, you’re so amazing, husband.”

The man’s voice was low and husky, lavishing praise upon him.

“Shut up!” The small red mole at the junction of the boy’s lower back and waist, repeatedly caressed and played with by the man, grew even more vibrant.

[Life is tough] Zhouzhou’s a street performer.

It was the familiar bathroom.

Bai Zhou, nestled in the bathtub, strongly suspected that Chi Shuyi was responsible for the broken bathroom in his bedroom.

This man’s mind was truly terrifying.

Unaware that his misdeeds had been discovered, the man leisurely leaned against the sink, scrubbing his face, a nightmare on his face.

Bai Zhou then drew circles in the water, cursing Chi Shuyi for premature ejaculation.

The cursed man rinsed his mouth and leaned over to kiss Bai Zhou, only to be disdainfully shooed away.

Being kicked out of the bathroom couldn’t shake the man’s current blissful mood; Chi Shuyi dutifully cleaned up the mess.

Bai Zhou soaked in the bathtub, his body so weak he didn’t want to move a single finger.

Despite this, he remained stubbornly focused on his unfinished task.

After leaving the bathroom, he suggested going to Chi Shuyi’s study.

Chi Shuyi, though puzzled, carried him over.

Bai Zhou, like a king on a royal tour, thoroughly inspected Chi Shuyi’s study.

Seeing the boy’s earnest expression, the man chuckled and kissed his cheek, saying, “Don’t worry, my heart is all yours, especially my body. I’m saving it as a dowry for Zhouzhou to collect on our wedding night.”

Bai Zhou ignored him, casually pulling a folder from the man’s desk.

“This one, I’m taking it.”

Chi Shuyi lifted an eyebrow. Although he had no idea what Bai Zhou was up to, he was always indulgent when it came to him. He nodded easily, only to lean in again, trying to steal another kiss.

Bai Zhou felt like he was going to suffocate from this man’s endless demands for affection.

“Wait, wait a second! Did you even look properly?”

He pushed the man away, holding up the folder in front of him and shaking it lightly, as if showing evidence.

“What is this?” Bai Zhou asked, his tone very much like a kindergarten teacher trying to coax a little student through a simple arithmetic problem.

Chi Shuyi lazily glanced at the folder, sparing it only a few moments of his attention before answering offhandedly, “A bidding proposal.”

Bai Zhou froze as though he had been burned. He quickly put the folder back exactly where it had been, treating it as if it were something explosive.

That sounded way too important!

“Do you have any old or discarded files? Something you don’t need anymore?” he asked cautiously.

After all, the task only said: help Du Kang’an obtain a confidential document from Chi Shuyi’s study.

It didn’t say which document specifically. Technically, as long as it came from the study, didn’t it still count?

Bai Zhou silently praised himself for his quick thinking and genius logic.

Hearing that, Chi Shuyi flipped through the papers on his desk and casually pulled one out, handing it over. “What do you need these for?”

Bai Zhou blinked and avoided his gaze, his voice a little sheepish. “Um… just for study. I want to learn from it.”

Chi Shuyi nodded, not questioning further. He didn’t press the point that Bai Zhou was a computer science student and had absolutely no reason to be studying business project plans.

Instead, he suddenly asked again, his voice softer this time, “Bai Zhou… we’ll get married, right?”

The words were quiet, but his eyes carried a deep and complicated light, a faint vulnerability that was almost impossible to notice.

Bai Zhou stayed silent, unable to answer.

Chi Shuyi didn’t push. He simply rested his head lightly on Bai Zhou’s shoulder, wrapping his arms around him in a silent, lingering embrace.

Even though Bai Zhou knew the document he’d taken was just a discarded one, he still felt uneasy. He placed it openly on the desk in front of Chi Shuyi, letting him look it over carefully to make sure there was nothing important inside.

Only after Chi Shuyi personally assured him that the document was completely useless did Bai Zhou finally feel safe enough to tuck it into his own schoolbag.

The very next day, Bai Zhou had planned to hand it over and leave immediately, but somehow the man still managed to keep him there for an entire day, finding every possible excuse to delay him.

By the time Monday arrived, Bai Zhou felt as if he had been saved from drowning. The moment the week started, he practically fled from Chi Shuyi’s lair, running as though escaping a den of wolves and diving headfirst into the comforting embrace of his C language textbook.

When he finally handed the document to Du Kang’an, the system’s familiar tone chimed right on cue.

【Task Four: Assist Du Kang’an in obtaining a confidential document from Chi Shuyi’s study. (Completed)】

【Task Five: Generating…】

【Points: 1200 / 10000】

Bai Zhou stared at the freshly updated balance of five hundred points and couldn’t help feeling as though he were running some kind of shady side business.

After all, nearly every single point he had earned so far came at the cost of selling his own looks or charm.

Deeply dissatisfied, Bai Zhou voiced his complaint to the system.

The system, as always when confronted, played dead.

Meanwhile, Du Kang’an seemed to want to say something more to him. But when he lifted his head, his eyes immediately met the cold, watchful gaze of Fu Linyi standing behind Bai Zhou, a look sharp enough to make anyone think twice.

Like a wary dog guarding its food, Fu Linyi didn’t even blink as he stared the other man down. Du Kang’an swallowed back his words and reluctantly left, casting a few lingering glances over his shoulder as he went.

“That one doesn’t look like a decent person at all,” Fu Linyi said flatly, his tone leaving no room for argument. “Zhouzhou, it’s better if you don’t have anything more to do with him.”

Bai Zhou gave a distracted hum of agreement, though his mind was clearly elsewhere. Lowering his head, he glanced at his phone and sighed quietly when he saw the message just sent by Fu Linchen.
