“That day when you held my hand and squeezed it, what did that mean?”

Bai Zhou’s hand trembled, and he quickly turned off the screen, flipping his phone face down behind his back. His fair little face flushed bright red all at once. Nothing could be more socially fatal than this, he thought.

How was he supposed to explain to his roommate that I once tried to seduce your brother, and I still plan to do it again in the future?

Thankfully, the cafeteria line moved forward a little, and Fu Linyi didn’t press the issue. He only turned his head slightly, glanced at Bai Zhou lightly, then slowly stood up to move along with the line.

Bai Zhou let out a sigh of relief, followed behind Fu Linyi to get his meal, and guiltily deleted Fu Linchen’s message.

In the plot, the protagonist gong (top) deliberately set up a trap for the original Bai Zhou so that the shou (bottom) protagonist would see him “seducing” the gong, even leading the original Bai Zhou to badmouth the protagonist shou.

For Task Three, all Bai Zhou needed to do was wait for the story to reach that event point, Fu Linchen would set the trap himself, and Bai Zhou would just have to fall into it. As for unnecessary actions, it was best not to meddle.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Fu Linchen pressed his lips together tightly. For the twelfth time, he opened his message box and still no reply.

“Fu ge, what’s going on today? What kind of business could have you clutching your phone all night like you’ve caught the love sickness bug?”

“More like you have caught it, hahaha.”

Zhao Libin and Zheng Dong exchanged glances, raising their brows and laughing. Fu Linchen lowered his lashes, gripping his wine glass without answering.

“Which family’s rich girl is it, huh? Got our Fu ge so smitten?” Zhao Libin nudged his arm, curiosity shining in his eyes.

Zheng Dong chimed in, “Yeah, yeah, tell us! We’ll help you chase them down, many hands make light work!”

Fu Linchen hesitated a moment, then cautiously asked, “Do you guys have any good ideas… for pursuing someone?”

“That we do!” Zhao Libin and Zheng Dong’s eyes lit up. For Fu Linchen to ask them for advice? That was a once in a lifetime event!

“So what’s the situation now? Explain everything in detail to us” His friend told him while sharing excited glance

“We have only met twice, my identity to him is his roommate’s older brother. He has a childhood friend type, a green-tea sort of guy who’s my strong rival.”

When Fu Linchen mentioned Chi Shuyi, a trace of irritation flashed in his eyes.

Zheng Dong spoke with a complicated look. “Not to be rude, bro, but this is…”

Fu Linchen frowned, “I knew you both would be useless.”

“Wh… What! No! no! I actually got a plan! Here’s what you can do… ”

Meanwhile, Bai Zhou thought that since Fu Linyi hadn’t mentioned the cafeteria incident again, maybe the matter had passed. What he didn’t expect was that there would to be a follow up.

The next day, Bai Zhou woke early for military training, only to find that everyone except Chen Feng was already up. He crawled out of bed reluctantly, patted the bed frame, and greeted his beloved bunk with a sleepy, “Good morning.”

Tang Mingyuan noticed him awake and split the breakfast he’d just bought, placing one portion on Bai Zhou’s desk, “Fu ge bought it.”

Tang Mingyuan had originally gotten up early to bring breakfast for Bai Zhou, thinking he’d oversleep but when he looked up, Fu Linyi was already dressed and ready to go.…He’d lost before he even started.

Bai Zhou folded his blanket and climbed down from the bed. Not seeing Fu Linyi, he asked, “Where’s Fu-ge?”

“He went to fetch water.”

Bai Zhou nodded, rubbing his eyes as he shuffled toward the bathroom, thinking he should also fetch some later, after all, military training all day would be exhausting.

He sighed deeply at the thought. He couldn’t believe he had to go through military training again in this small world, even as a third year student.

The air conditioner had been on all night and hadn’t been turned off. Combined with the chilly morning air of the capital, the washroom felt cool and damp.

That gentle chill made him miss his warm bed even more. Half asleep, he brushed his teeth in lazy, circular motions… left, right, up, down…

Gurgle, gurgle.

After rinsing, Bai Zhou opened his eyes and froze. In the mirror, another figure appeared behind him.

Fu Linyi was leaning against the doorway, watching him silently. When Bai Zhou met his eyes, he said nothing, just walked over casually to wash his hands at the sink beside him.

Bai Zhou still held his toothbrush, his sleepy face faintly flushed. In the mirror, the man’s natural presence made it look as if this scene, brushing teeth side by side, happened every morning.

When Fu Linyi finished washing his hands, he didn’t leave. He stood there, waiting for Bai Zhou to finish washing up before walking out together.

Bai Zhou: “?”

He dried his face and went to grab his cup, only to find it already filled with water on his desk.

He looked at Fu Linyi suspiciously, but the latter turned away, saying nothing.

…Could it be that he actually took Fu Linchen’s words, “take care of him” seriously?

A step behind them, Tang Mingyuan clenched his water cup silently. Damn it. Lost again.

After breakfast, having once experienced military training, Bai Zhou dug out sunscreen from his treasure box. Holding up a small mirror, he dabbed and spread the cream across his face.

“Eh? Bai Zhou, do you wake up this early every day just to do makeup? Amazing. I usually just wash my face and call it a day.”

Chen Feng, newly awake, grinned as he watched. No wonder Bai Zhou looked so good yesterday, it turned out he’d been secretly putting in the effort.

“It’s not makeup, it’s sunscreen. We’ll be under the sun all day, you’ll get burnt. Want some?” Bai Zhou said, patting his cheeks lightly.

The last time he trained without it, his face burned, peeled, and hurt for days, until a kind senior gave him ointment and masks.

“No thanks, I’ve got sensitive skin. Never use cosmetics,” Chen Feng said with a smile.

“I’ll take some! My skin’s thick anyway,” Tang Mingyuan jumped in, scooting his stool eagerly next to Bai Zhou. He’d been itching to join in ever since he saw him apply it.

Bai Zhou squeezed a dollop into his palm, then felt someone’s gaze on him. Turning around, he met Fu Linyi’s eyes, “Fu-ge, you want some too?”

Fu Linyi didn’t answer. He just walked over, squatted down in front of Bai Zhou, and looked up silently.

Bai Zhou offered the tube, but the man didn’t move, just stared straight at him.

Hesitating, Bai Zhou squeezed some onto his hand and gently dabbed it on the man’s face.

Fu Linyi’s eyes darkened, his lashes lowering as his Adam’s apple bobbed, “Help me.”

So he doesn’t know how to use it himself? Bai Zhou thought.

He followed the same routine, dotting cream on the man’s cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin.

Tang Mingyuan looked at the cream in his own hand and suddenly felt it tasteless. Damn, this guy really knows how to play!

The man sat obediently, letting Bai Zhou do as he pleased. Bai Zhou spread the lotion gently, and though it was white, the man’s face only grew redder. Am I pressing too hard?

“All done. You can pat it in yourself,” Bai Zhou said, capping the tube.

The man didn’t move.

“…Do you want me to do that too?” Bai Zhou asked with uncertainty.

“Mm”

So lazy! Bai Zhou thought. Typical spoiled young master.

He gave two light pats but the man’s face reddened further. Such delicate skin, Bai Zhou thought, softening his touch, “This strength okay? Does it hurt?”

“No. You can use a little more force.”

His voice was low, a little hoarse, his warm breath brushing against Bai Zhou’s knees, hot enough to make him squirm.

Dead for pride, huh? Your face is red as a tomato and you still want me to hit harder? Bai Zhou thought, and mischievously did so, two sharp pats.

This time, the man couldn’t take it. He shot up suddenly and turned away, walking off without a word of thanks.

Bai Zhou swung his legs, pouting. He asked for it, not my fault if he’s mad.

Tang Mingyuan, who’d witnessed everything: “…”

Chen Feng came out of the washroom just in time to bump into Fu Linyi who looked flustered and didn’t even notice him, just strode back into the washroom and locked the door.

Chen Feng, puzzled, turned to Bai Zhou and froze.

The boy was casually changing clothes right there, unbothered. His pale, smooth skin and narrow waistline gleamed in the light.

On his lower back, right where the curve met his hips, a tiny red mole glowed like a drop of flame, impossible to look away from.

Chen Feng suddenly felt that Bai Zhou did have reason to take care of his looks. Then, startled by his own thoughts, he snorted coldly and turned to change clothes.

Across the room, Tang Mingyuan’s ears were red to the tips. He didn’t dare raise his head.

It was normal in a boys’ dorm, guys changed all the time, sometimes shirtless after showers. So why was he reacting like this? Maybe he was a scheming gay guy.

Tang Mingyuan lowered his head and suddenly thought of the person in the bathroom. It was as if he had found psychological comfort. He was afraid that if he was seen by that person after taking a shower, he would probably rush back again.

Compared to this, he has done very well

After a full day of military training, Bai Zhou’s face was red even with sunscreen. He collapsed onto his bed the moment they got back. Why did he have to suffer through this even in a mission world?!

Tang Mingyuan volunteered to fetch dinner and Bai Zhou resolved to wake up earlier the next day to bring breakfast for everyone.

Chen Feng had gone to the school clinic, his face was purple-red from sunburn, so only Bai Zhou and Fu Linyi remained in the dorm.

Bai Zhou lay on his bed replying to Chi Shuyi’s daily messages.

Chi Shuyi: Did you put on sunscreen? Was training hard?

Bai Zhou: I did. I’m so tired. [fainting cat emoji]

Chi Shuyi: Did you get sunburned? What do you want to eat? Want me to bring it?

Bai Zhou: Just a bit red. No need, my roommate’s bringing dinner.

Chi Shuyi: Red? Send me a picture, let me see if it’s bad.

Bai Zhou turned on his camera and snapped a side face photo.

Bai Zhou: [photo]

Bai Zhou: It’s okay! Luckily, I used sunscreen! [hands on hips emoji]

After sending it, the other side suddenly went silent. Chi Shuyi, who always replied in seconds, didn’t respond for a long time.

Just as Bai Zhou was about to praise him to his system, “See? Still such a sweet, gentle man” two messages popped up at once.

Fu Linyi: Do you like my brother?

Fu Linyi: Should I start calling you brother in law?

And right at that moment, the long delayed reply from Chi Shuyi came in:

Chi Shuyi: Baby, you’re so good.
