Chi Shu Yi sat in his office, zooming in and out of the photo the young man had just sent him.

The boy had just come back from military training, his once fair skin was now faintly flushed from the sun and he lay limply on the dorm bed, wrapped around a quilt patterned with tiny beige teddy bears.

His soft cheek was pressed into the blanket, forming a small, delicate dent, and perhaps from exhaustion, a thin mist of drowsy haze clouded his bright eyes.Full novel: Cannon fodder accidentally became a heartthrob [Quick Wear] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Just the thought that the quilt the boy was holding had been washed by him filled Chi Shu Yi’s chest with a secret sense of excitement and satisfaction, as if it were himself lying in that boy’s arms.

Bo Zhou had always assumed that everything at home was handled by the housekeeper.

In truth, only Chi Shu Yi’s own clothes were given to her to wash. Everything that belonged to Bo Zhou from his towels to his sheets, Chi Shu Yi had cleaned by hand, himself.

A faint smile flickered through Chi Shu Yi’s pale eyes. His fingertip brushed across the image of the boy’s glistening eyes, tracing slowly downward.

It had only been a single night, yet it felt to him like much longer. Even his usually bright apartment seemed suddenly cold and empty without the boy in it.

By late evening, most of the company had already left.

Assistant Qian glanced at the still lit president’s office, puzzled. Hadn’t President Chi been leaving right on time for the past two weeks, always saying someone was waiting for him at home?

Why was he suddenly staying overtime again?

Could it be… a lovers’ quarrel?

Meanwhile, in the dormitory, everything was quiet.

So quiet that when Bo Zhou slowed his breathing, he could almost sense every tiny movement in the room, every shift of fabric, every faint rustle.

For instance, Fu Linyi had just sat up on his bed. He was watching him.

Fu Linyi got out of bed and walked over, stopping right beside Bo Zhou’s bunk.

“…brother in law.”

The low murmur brushed against his ear.

Bo Zhou’s face turned scarlet. He shot upright, slapping a hand over Fu Linyi’s mouth.

“I’m not! Don’t call me that!”

Fu Linyi’s dark eyes lowered to the pale hand covering his lips. Instead of obeying, he leaned closer, letting his dry, warm lips rub lightly against Bo Zhou’s palm. The motion was subtle, teasing, like a whispered flirtation.

A tingle crawled up Bo Zhou’s arm, making his fingers twitch. He wanted to pull back, but the man caught his hand and held it in place.

“O.. of course, I’m not!”

Fu Linyi didn’t respond. His gaze drifted to the phone still glowing beside Bo Zhou’s pillow.

History, it seemed, always had a way of repeating itself.

“Baby, you’re so good.”

The low, muffled voice seeped through Bo Zhou’s palm, carrying a hoarse warmth that made his ears burn.

“You’re amazing.”

Their eyes met. The man’s gaze burned with something unspoken, his voice low, his words half praise, half provocation.

Bo Zhou thought his brain might just explode. What on earth was going on?!

Never mind that the main character had sent him such ridiculous messages, now even his brand new roommate was acting insane!

In both lifetimes combined, Bo Zhou had never encountered anything this bizarre. His mind spun rapidly, piecing together explanations.

Ah! It must be that Fu Linyi thought he was having an affair with Fu Lin Chen and, discovering his “green tea deceit” had come to expose him on his brother’s behalf!

Then next, wouldn’t he go to Fu Lin Chen to reveal Bo Zhou’s “true nature”? That would only make Fu Lin Chen more determined to save Chi Shu Yi!

That had to be it. It wasn’t in the original story, sure but since he wasn’t the original Bo Zhou, a few butterfly effects were inevitable. At least the general plot hadn’t gone off course.

Having reasoned it all out, Bo Zhou relaxed considerably. He even found Fu Linyi much less annoying now. Poor guy, scaring him half to death, turns out he was a friendly ally after all.

Bo Zhou arched his brow and smiled confidently, “That’s right. I am that capable.”

Go ahead, he thought, expose me to your brother.

Fu Linyi chuckled softly. The boy’s proud grin seemed to dazzle him. Blinking, he said, “Then… Can you take me too?”

Bo Zhou blinked, confused, “Take you… what?”

Fu Linyi lowered Bo Zhou’s hand, pressing it gently to his own cheek. He rubbed against it like a spoiled cat, though his eyes grew darker, gleaming faintly with excitement, “You’re so amazing, it should be easy for you to win me over, right?”

Bo Zhou: “???”

Why did this guy’s words make no sense? Wasn’t he supposed to be catching him in the act?

“Why would I need to win you over?”

Was this some kind of trap? A setup?

“I can do whatever they can,” Fu Linyi murmured, inching closer, “I’m young, obedient… and I don’t talk much”

His voice dropped to a whisper. “We can keep it just between us. Only at school, okay?”

It had to be entrapment. There was no other explanation for this level of absurdity.

This had to be a setup with the main lead, a ploy to test him. Well, fine. If it’s a trap, I’ll walk right into it.

Determined, Bo Zhou reached out, gripped Fu Linyi’s arm tightly, and said with grave seriousness, “Alright! I’ve taken you down.”

Fu Linyi froze and then burst out laughing, voice low and rich, “Baby, you really are incredible.”

He leaned in closer, little by little, until the narrow dorm bed seemed too small to contain them both. His hand rose to cup Bo Zhou’s flushed face, his gaze falling on the boy’s glistening lips.

“Then from now on,” he whispered, “I’m yours.”

Bo Zhou’s eyes widened. He opened his mouth to protest but the man was faster.

A dry, burning touch crashed against his lips, exploding through his mind like fireworks.

For a moment, he was too stunned to react until Fu Linyi pressed harder, deepening the kiss, his tongue prying gently at Bo Zhou’s lips until it slipped past, tasting, teasing, claiming.

Bo Zhou gasped and tried to push him away, but the man caught him easily, wrapping him up in his arms as if he were weightless.

The feverish, clumsy kiss slowly softened, turning almost tender. The man’s once dry lips were now wet and warm, sliding against his, lingering even as the kiss broke apart.

Panting, Bo Zhou finally wrenched himself free. His head spun from lack of oxygen, his limbs too weak to fight back. As he struggled to breathe, Fu Linyi leaned in again, intent on another kiss.

“Fu Linyi! You.. you!”

“I’m sorry,” the man said quickly, but his satisfied expression betrayed his apology. “Did I hurt you somewhere?”

“You shouldn’t have done that at all!” Bo Zhou snapped, jumping off the bed.

“Why not? Don’t you want me anymore?” Fu Linyi’s eyes gleamed with a strange light. He licked his lips, voice low. “Or… do you think I wasn’t as good as them?”

Bo Zhou almost choked on his own outrage, “They’d never do something this crazy!”

“They didn’t? So I’m the only one who has?”

Instead of being offended, Fu Linyi looked delighted as if struck by some incredible stroke of luck. His eyes sparkled as he picked up the pillow Bo Zhou had thrown at him, hugged it, and planted a loud kiss on it.

“Baby, that was my first kiss too.”

“Is that the point?!”

Seeing Bo Zhou’s expression darken, Fu Linyi finally regained a hint of reason.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured, head bowed. “I was too impatient. I thought… just now meant we were together.”

Bo Zhou opened his mouth to refute him and stopped. Although… that wasn’t a valid excuse, either!

Hold it in, he told himself. Everything is for the mission. You can endure this.

But when he saw the man crouched at his bedside, refusing to leave, irritation prickled through him again. He kicked at the hand resting on his bed frame.

“Move!”

Fu Linyi’s lips curled up again, as if the kick had pleased him instead of hurting. “Don’t be mad, baby.”

Bo Zhou turned his head away, ignoring him.

Fu Linyi panicked a little. Trying to coax him, he said softly, “Then… want to hit me again?”

Bo Zhou huffed, yanking his pillow back, “If you don’t move, I’m leaving!”

Knowing he’d pushed too far, Fu Linyi finally retreated a few steps, giving Bo Zhou enough distance to feel safe.

Still, he couldn’t help the grin tugging at his lips. He’d gained far more tonight than he’d expected. He had thought it would take ages to even make a dent in this wall and yet, it turned out all his rivals hadn’t even started climbing.

Fu Linyi returned to his own bed, his mood light and triumphant. Fate really was amazing.

Out of all the people, he and Bo Zhou had been assigned to the same dorm and from the very first glance, that boy had made his heart skip and his reason blur.

Picking up his phone from the pillow, Fu Linyi licked his lips, savoring the lingering sweetness of that kiss. Then he glanced back at the few messages that had made him so jealous earlier and suddenly, they all seemed amusing.

Fu Lin Chen: Take care of Bo Zhou for me at school. He’s your future brother in law. If any pests try to get close, tell me right away.

Fu Lin Chen: Also, if you want to start calling him that early, I won’t stop you. Just mind your tone around him, he’s shy.

Fu Linyi’s grin widened as he typed back:

Fu Linyi: Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him. Any pests that show up, I’ll block them all.

Fu Linyi: And actually, you’re the one who should change how you address him. I’m not shy at all, you can start calling him little Brother in law.

Fu Linyi: [Transfer: ¥13,140,000]
