15 – Hе Lоst Нis Jоb
Wеn Zhi hung uр thе phonе аnd turnеd tо lоok at Mо Тingyan, аsking with a seriоus ехрrеssiоn, “Did yоu rеfusе to wоrk shifts with Xu Рurser at thе сomрanу?”
Мо Tingуаn glanсеd аt hеr sidеwауs and rеpliеd mаtter-of-factlу, “Yes.”
“Whу did yоu dо thаt?”
Мo Tingуan answеrеd frаnklу, “Thе pеoplе trаinеd bу Хu Pursеr lack the аbilitу tо hаndlе crisis public rеlаtiоns.”
Wen Zhi fеlt a hеadaсhе соming on and suррressed hеr anger аs shе sаid, “Dо yоu knоw that Xu Purser has connеctiоns? Неr husbаnd is а highly influеntial exеcutivе at оur Jianghаng Airlines, and Xu Purser herself holds grudges. Last time, a new captain here offended her over a minor issue, and within a week, he was fired by the company.”
Seeing her anxious expression, Mo Tingyan not only remained calm but even smiled cheerfully. “So worried about me?”
Wen Zhi was utterly speechless. Was she worried about him? She was worried about his job!
If he got fired, how would he repay the four-digit monthly mortgage?
Unable to hide her anxiety, Wen Zhi tugged at her seatbelt and turned to face him seriously. “Mo Tingyan, could you discuss things with me before acting impulsively in the future? If you lose your job, what do you plan to do?”
While driving, Mo Tingyan quickly glanced at her and grinned mischievously. “Will you support me?”
Wen Zhi: “…”
She was completely speechless. This man had no idea how serious the situation was!
She turned around, fuming, and looked out the window, her heart filled with frustration.
If she asked Mo Tingyan to apologize…
She didn’t really want that either, as she didn’t particularly like the bullying Xu Purser.
Moreover, based on her understanding of Xu Purser, even if Mo Tingyan backed down, it probably wouldn’t resolve the issue.
Wen Zhi didn’t speak to Mo Tingyan again until they arrived home.
Having been out all day, she felt sticky and uncomfortable, so she took a shower first. After washing away her fatigue, she returned to her room, sat at the desk, and flipped through her phone contacts, hoping to find someone who could help mediate.
Just then, Mo Tingyan, who had also finished showering, pushed the door open and walked in with a smile on his face. He approached Wen Zhi from behind, picked up the towel draped over her shoulder, and gently covered her still-damp hair, drying it as he asked, “Still angry?”
Wen Zhi ignored him.
“Then I’ll put in some effort to cheer you up?” Mo Tingyan said, bending down to wrap his arms around her from behind. His lips pressed against the side of her neck in a lingering kiss, and his hand slipped inside her collar.
Wen Zhi hadn’t worn any undergarments after her shower, and his intimate advances instantly infuriated her!
She thought Mo Tingyan was hopeless. His job was on the line, and he was still thinking about such things?
She immediately stood up, breaking free from his embrace and avoiding his advances.
In order to get what he wanted, Mo Tingyan had no choice but to put on a serious face and reassure her, “Don’t worry, I was transferred from Xingzhou. They can’t touch me…”
But Wen Zhi knew Mo Tingyan was being overly optimistic.
From now on, Mo Tingyan’s time at the company was unlikely to be peaceful. Yet, with over two million in debt between them, neither of them could afford to lose their jobs. So… she needed to think carefully about a strategy.”Mo Tingyan, I’m not in the mood to do that kind of thing with you. We agreed before that as long as I’m unwilling, you wouldn’t force me,” she stepped forward directly, pushing Mo Tingyan’s arm and shoving him out of the room. “Get out, I need some time alone.”
Mo Tingyan, who didn’t get his ‘meat’: “…”
His mood instantly soured!
The next day, Wen Zhi arrived at the company early. While preparing for the pre-flight meeting in the conference room, she suddenly heard chaotic footsteps outside, along with someone muttering that Captain Mo was in trouble!
Wen Zhi, who usually avoided drama, quickly stood up and left the conference room upon hearing this.
Amid the crowd not far away, Xu Purser stood with her arms crossed, blocking Mo Tingyan’s path. Her tone was unapologetic as she said, “Mo Tingyan, don’t think I don’t know. Ever since you first came here to work with us on flights, you’ve had it out for us. You’re just targeting our team.”
Mo Tingyan stood with his hands in his pockets, his captain’s uniform accentuating his well-built figure.
He glanced lazily at her, a habitual, nonchalant smile curling at the corner of his lips. “You’ve misunderstood, Xu Purser. I’m not targeting your team—I’m simply targeting you personally. As a purser, dragging your flight attendants under the bus to take the blame shows poor character.”
“You…” Xu Purser gritted her teeth, then sneered, “You bastard! You have no right to lecture me at Jianghang Airlines. Just you wait—I have plenty of ways to make you get out of here!”
With that, Xu Purser turned and strode away haughtily.
Mo Tingyan raised an eyebrow, lifting his arms from his pockets and crossing them over his chest as he watched her retreating figure. He spoke calmly and deliberately, “Alright, I’ll wait. But Xu Purser, next time you come out of the restroom, remember to wipe your mouth. Talking so filthily might disgust people.”
Xu Purser halted, turning to glare venomously at Mo Tingyan.
But by then, Mo Tingyan had already turned and was heading toward the office.
Furious, Xu Purser noticed the crowd still watching the spectacle. Stamping her foot in anger, she cursed, “What are you all staring at? Don’t you want your jobs? Get lost, all of you!”
Better not provoke her!
The crowd scattered in a hurry, and Wen Zhi followed along.
Her mind was buzzing, and she felt completely unsettled!
Why did Mo Tingyan have to cause so much trouble?
After calming herself for a moment, she pulled out her phone and sent a text message…
A few minutes later.
The stairwell door opened, and Wen Zhi grabbed Mo Tingyan, who had come looking for her after seeing the message.
Angrily, she pulled his arm and pushed him against the wall, pinning him there as she scolded, “What’s wrong with you? I already told you she’s a petty person. Don’t you know it’s better to offend a gentleman than a villain?”
Mo Tingyan took the opportunity to wrap his arms around Wen Zhi’s waist, pulling her close until they were pressed tightly together. He kissed her forehead and coaxed, “Zhangzhu, don’t be angry. She started it—she called me a dog. Of course, I had to fight back.”
“You…” Wen Zhi tried to push him away but couldn’t budge him.
She said unhappily, “Let go of me!”
“I’ll let go if you say you’re not angry anymore,” he replied with a cheeky grin, the corners of his lips curling widely.
The more he acted like this, the angrier Wen Zhi became.
Mo Tingyan leaned in closer, lowering his head. “Be good, Zhangzhu. Don’t be angry. If you keep getting mad, I’ll have to kiss you.””Stop messing around, I… mmm…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Mo Tingyan actually kissed her, deepening the kiss as he went—
Wen Zhi’s tongue was held captive, letting out muffled sounds of protest. Coupled with the intermittent sound of high heels outside the corridor, she was already afraid of being discovered and could only quickly nod, indicating she wasn’t angry anymore.
Mo Tingyan reluctantly released her, almost wishing she had held out a little longer—he hadn’t had enough of the kiss.
Once her mouth was free, Wen Zhi took a deep breath.
She knew Mo Tingyan’s issue couldn’t be resolved within the company. She could only look at him seriously and say, “After tonight’s flight ends, come with me somewhere.”
“Where to?”
Wen Zhi shot him a glare. “Where else? Of course, to find a way to pull some strings and look for someone who can keep Xu Purser in check to save your job.”
After saying this, she straightened her clothes and, once the footsteps outside the corridor faded away, quickly pushed open the stairwell door and left.
Mo Tingyan raised his hand to touch his lips, which still held a lingering warmth, a hint of cunning flashing in his eyes.
He couldn’t tell her that at Jianghang Airlines, no one could touch him.
Still, he was curious… What exactly was she planning to do?
