Wеn Zhi sаid sеriоusly, “I mаde аn аppointment in уour nаme with Хu Рursеr’s husbаnd. Since Хu Purser is diffiсult tо tаlk tо, yоu should gо and spеаk with hеr husbаnd instеad. Nо matter what, lеt’s sесurе уour job first.”

Mо Тingуan: “…”

Аs she sрoke, Wеn Zhi turnеd tо lоok at him, hеr еxprеssion eаrnеst аs shе instructеd, “Rеmember, be sincere.”

Mо Tingуаn hаd nеvеr beggеd anyonе in his life—оnly оncе had he prayed to Buddha. Unfortunately… the Buddha was blind and failed to help him keep those two people, so he had always believed only in himself.

Now, he was being asked to beg someone?

“Zhangzhu, I don’t want to go.”

Wen Zhi’s expression turned stern. “If you don’t go, don’t ever touch me again.”

Mo Tingyan: “…”

This little woman really knew how to keep him in check.

This piece of ‘meat’ was proving hard to swallow.

The two arrived early at the café with the gifts. After Wen Zhi reminded Mo Tingyan to keep his temper in check, she moved to the table next to his to supervise.

Before long, a middle-aged man in a suit, with a slightly protruding belly and a somewhat greasy expression, walked in.

His gaze swept around the café before finally settling on Mo Tingyan at the corner table.

His eyebrows lifted almost imperceptibly as he strode over. “Captain Mo.”

With Wen Zhi supervising nearby, Mo Tingyan stood up and shook hands with him. “Hello, Manager Hao.”

The man was a head shorter than Mo Tingyan but sized him up from head to toe, a smile lingering in his eyes. “Come, have a seat. I heard about what happened between you and my wife yesterday. That’s why you asked to meet me, right?”

After they sat down, Mo Tingyan glanced at Wen Zhi, who was signaling him from the next table, and deliberately put on a sincere expression. “Yes, Manager Hao. I was just transferred from Xingzhou and am not familiar with the rules here. I offended Xu Purser, and she wants to fire me. It hasn’t been easy for me to get to where I am today. I hope you can show some leniency.”

“My wife called me and mentioned wanting me to fire you. I already agreed. I was just about to start the process. My people naturally shouldn’t be wronged,” Manager Hao said, his gaze lingering on Mo Tingyan’s face the entire time.

Mo Tingyan watched as the man scrutinized him like prey, suppressing the urge to stand up and tear him apart. To maintain his good image in front of Wen Zhi, he forced a smile and continued, “Is there really no other way to make up for it?”

“How could there be no other way? Young people should listen carefully to what others say. Didn’t I just mention that my people shouldn’t be wronged?” As he spoke, he leaned forward and reached out to touch the back of Mo Tingyan’s hand resting on the coffee table.

“As long as you become one of my people too, I’ll naturally protect you and let you walk sideways at Jianghang Airlines.”

Mo Tingyan’s eyes darkened.

At the next table, Wen Zhi, who had been eavesdropping, froze in shock.

She wasn’t a fool and knew exactly what was happening.

So… Manager Hao was gay, and Xu Purser was a “tongqi” (a straight woman married to a gay man)?

Mo Tingyan quickly pulled his hand away from the other man’s grasp, his voice turning colder. “Manager Hao and I have different preferences.”

His refusal was clear.Manager Hao was in no hurry. He casually picked up his coffee cup and took a sip. “Everyone who’s come to me for help before has said the same thing, but in the end, they all ended up beneath me, and every one of them behaved nicely. If you still want your job, you’d better be sensible. With looks like yours, you’re just my type. As long as you’re obedient and let me have my way, I might even be willing to dote on you a little longer…”

Mo Tingyan’s expression remained calm, his face unreadable.

The words grew uglier by the minute. He didn’t care for himself, but it was wrong for this pervert to soil his Zhangzhu’s ears.

He couldn’t bear it any longer. Leaning forward slightly, he was about to act when, unexpectedly, Wen Zhi beside him moved faster.

Wearing a mask and sunglasses, Wen Zhi stood up, walked over, picked up the still-steaming coffee cup in front of Mo Tingyan, and splashed it directly at Manager Hao across the table.

Manager Hao cried out in shock, jumping to his feet and frantically fanning his clothes.

With her sunglasses on, no one could see Wen Zhi’s expression, but the anger in her voice was unmistakable. “You fat pig, if your house doesn’t have a mirror, you must at least have piss, right? Can’t you see your own bloated, disgusting face? Who do you think you’re grossing out?”

Manager Hao looked up, glaring furiously at this woman who had appeared out of nowhere. “You bitch, do you know who I am? How dare you insult me!”

“Insult you? If you don’t get it, I’ll carve these words on your tombstone. Listen up—there’s nothing shameful about loving someone of the same sex. But using threats and degrading others like you do? That’s shameful! Mo Tingyan would rather beg for food than board your perverted ship.”

After saying this, she bent down, grabbed the wrist of Mo Tingyan, who had been watching the scene unfold, picked up the gift he had brought with her other hand, and dragged him out of the room.

Behind them, only Manager Hao’s furious shouts remained. “Fine, just you wait! Tomorrow, I’ll make sure he’s kicked out of the company!”

Back in the car, Wen Zhi’s anger still hadn’t subsided.

Mo Tingyan opened a bottle of mineral water and handed it to her, his gaze fixed intently on her face.

A beauty saving the hero—this scene…

He was enjoying it.

But he pretended to sound helpless as he said, “Zhangzhu, it looks like my job is gone.”

Though still upset, Wen Zhi couldn’t help feeling a pang of sympathy for the humiliation Mo Tingyan had just endured.

What was done was done, and they had tried their best.

She reached out and patted the back of his hand reassuringly. “Forget it. If you lose your job, you can find another one. If we can’t pay the mortgage, we’ll sell the house and buy a smaller one. Smaller places are cozier anyway.” Mo Tingyan was taken aback and turned to look at her. “If I become a penniless loser, you won’t divorce me?”

Wen Zhi shot him a glare. “Weren’t you already a penniless loser with over two million in debt when we got married?”

Mo Tingyan chuckled softly. For her… that was true.

Wen Zhi added, “That house is like a mountain weighing us down. Selling it and buying a smaller one would be a relief—less pressure is a good thing.”

Everyone likes big houses, and she was no exception. But if circumstances didn’t allow it, choosing a smaller, more comfortable home wasn’t a bad option.

She just didn’t know if Mo Tingyan could handle such a change in lifestyle…

Seeing Wen Zhi staring at him with a furrowed brow, Mo Tingyan decided not to tease her any further. He leaned close to her face, the corners of his lips curling into that casual, languid smile again, and said, “Zhangzhu, actually I have another idea that might just save the job…”
