“What do you want to eat?”
“Crab.”
Su Wenjing was inwardly surprised—most girls would suggest going to a Western restaurant or something similar, wouldn’t they?
“Is that okay?” Wen Zhi asked eagerly from beside him.
“Whoever’s treating gets to decide. Sure, let’s have crab.”
“Hehe, you’re the best, Senior!” She couldn’t help herself—her lips gradually curved upward, and a smile spilled from her eyes, spreading all the way to the tips of her brows.
The praised individual didn’t say a word, but the slight upward curve of his lips betrayed his good mood.
Having received a satisfactory answer, Wen Zhi couldn’t help but feel happy. However, as she remembered something, her raised lips slowly drooped.
Oh no, I’m going back on my word… I promised my roommates I’d treat them to a meal.
But given the situation, it’s impossible tonight.
She opened WeChat on her phone and found the dorm group chat.
Zhi Ya Zhi: 【Sorry, everyone, my little darlings】
Zhi Ya Zhi: 【Something came up tonight, so I can’t treat you all to dinner. Next time, I’ll definitely make it up with a big feast!】
【Kneeling and begging for forgiveness. jpg】
Li Yue replied instantly: 【!!】
【Have you been lured away by some scoundrel! Wuwuwuwu, our pure and innocent Zhi Zhi’s little body is in danger (crying. jpg)】
Zhang Tingting: 【Dinner is a small matter, but losing your virtue is a big one! We’re big beauties!】
Seeing their messages, Wen Zhi flushed with embarrassment.
What nonsense are they talking about!
Zhi Ya Zhi: 【You guys, cut down on those domineering CEO novels!】
Zhi Ya Zhi: 【It’s just something simple. I’ll make it up to you when I get back tonight (cute. jpg)】
Li Yue: 【!!! Don’t go】
Unfortunately, Wen Zhi exited the chat interface right after sending her message, or else they would have definitely bombarded her with questions.
As night fell, the city’s neon lights began to flicker, adorning the streets with a dreamlike glow.
Su Wenjing drove his red sports car steadily to the entrance of the “Azure Tide” seafood restaurant, located in the city center.
This restaurant was renowned for its unique ocean-themed design and upscale seafood cuisine. Each dish seemed like a gift from the sea, utterly tantalizing.
The exterior of the restaurant resembled a massive yacht. Its golden hull gleamed under the lights, with the bow raised high as if ready to set sail.
At the entrance, two uniformed attendants respectfully approached. Their eyes immediately turned deferential and eager upon spotting Su Wenjing’s sports car.
Another limited-edition supercar, another person they couldn’t afford to offend.
Su Wenjing stepped out of the car. His white shirt billowed gently in the wind as he casually adjusted his tie—a lazy yet elegant gesture that was hard to look away from.
Wen Zhi also emerged from the passenger seat. She wore a light blue dress with a fitted waist, accentuating her already slender figure.
The hem of her dress fluttered softly in the night breeze, like a blooming enchantress.
At that moment, she looked quite excited, her eyes sparkling like two twinkling stars, brimming with liveliness and playfulness.
She had actually been here before with her close friend Shen Muxi. The food was delicious, but the prices weren’t cheap either.
The restaurant manager hurried over, his face beaming with a smile, his eyes revealing a mix of reverence and flattery toward Su Wenjing. He bowed respectfully and asked in a low voice, “Mr. Su, will it be your usual spot tonight?”
Su Wenjing nodded, his gaze sweeping across the restaurant before finally settling on the window-side seat. From there, the night view of the entire city was visible, with its brilliant lights resembling a dazzling river of stars.
Wen Zhi sat across from him. After all, the two weren’t familiar with each other—it wouldn’t be appropriate to sit side by side.
Su Wenjing casually handed her the menu. “Order. You were the one clamoring for crab.”
He paused, only then realizing he didn’t even know this woman’s name.
“What’s your name?”
Wen Zhi unceremoniously took the menu, replying without hesitation, “Wen Zhi, as in gardenia.”
Her demeanor was open and natural, unlike other girls who might act coy or reserved around Su Wenjing.
Su Wenjing silently mulled over the two characters, saying nothing.
“Hello, I’d like steamed hairy crab, scallops with garlic vermicelli, salt-and-pepper mantis shrimp…” Her voice was clear and pleasant as she ordered all her favorites, not holding back in the slightest.
“I’m done. Do you want to add anything else?” She handed the menu back to the man across from her.
Su Wenjing took it and passed it to the waiter beside him, uttering calmly, “No, that’s all.”
The waiter respectfully accepted the menu, gave a slight bow, and turned to leave.
This little one didn’t look like much, but her appetite was quite impressive—she’d rattled off a long list of dishes.
Compared to others who pretended to eat only a few bites before claiming they were full, Wen Zhi’s straightforwardness was refreshing.
Once the waiter left, the atmosphere instantly quieted down. Wen Zhi didn’t speak either. She stole a glance at Su Wenjing, who was now lowering his gaze, lost in thought.
So, she quietly pulled out her phone to play with.
Just as she was about to bother her best friend, she heard two light taps on the table—knock, knock—from someone’s knuckles.
“Miss Wen, I’m sitting right across from you, a living person. Is it really okay for you to play with your phone so openly?”
Wen Zhi, called out so directly, didn’t feel guilty. She stared straight at him, enunciating each word, “You’re not talking, and I have nothing to say either. If I’m not looking at my phone, what should I look at? You?”
The way she said those last three words made it sound as if looking at Su Wenjing would be a hardship for her.
“Hmph.”
“Others would love to look but can’t, and here you are being picky?” Su Wenjing’s gaze remained calm as he spoke unhurriedly.
Wen Zhi didn’t respond to that remark, but she felt as though she’d forgotten to ask him something.
She racked her brain but couldn’t remember what it was—until the waiter brought their ordered seafood to the table, and the question was immediately pushed to the back of her mind.
The waiters quickly gathered around, holding plates of various seafood, each exuding an enticing aroma.
One of them pointed to the first dish served and explained, “Our signature dish, steamed hairy crab, made with female crabs from the Yangtze River. The meat is tender, and the roe is abundant.”
After introducing the remaining dishes one by one, he respectfully stepped back. “Please enjoy your meal.”
Once they left, Wen Zhi first took a photo and sent it to her mom.
[I’m eating properly, Mom.]
Proof that she really was having seafood.
“I won’t wait for you, Senior. I’m really starving right now.” She was truly craving this!
It was all Wen Yan’s fault, that brat!
Why did he have to send photos to tempt her?
With that, she picked up her chopsticks and grabbed a piece of crab meat. The savory flavor burst in her mouth, as if condensing the essence of the entire ocean into that single bite.
Su Wenjing watched Wen Zhi’s contented expression as she ate, a playful smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
He then slowly began to eat as well.
Throughout the meal, neither of them spoke, clearly taking the old saying “no talking while eating, no speaking while sleeping” to heart.
