Wen Zhi tilted her head slightly, her delicate, palm-sized face looking up at him. Meeting his gaze, she said with utmost sincerity, “Senior, look at my earnest eyes—they’re all expressing that what I’m saying right now is absolutely true.”

Looking at the girl’s glistening, clear eyes, like a clear spring, staring unblinkingly at him, Su Wenjing couldn’t help but purse his lips, sighing inwardly: Fine, he really fell for this.

He raised his hand and lightly flicked Wen Zhi’s fair, plump forehead. “I won’t stoop to your level.”Full novel: Cherished Deeply, Gently Doted On — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Zhi was taken aback by his sudden action, frozen in place.

Su Wenjing didn’t seem fazed by his own behavior. He snapped his fingers at the stunned girl. “Snap out of it.”

Wen Zhi rubbed the spot he had flicked, a bit annoyed. “You, how can you just touch people like that?!”

Don’t you know men and women should keep their distance?!

Su Wenjing, now accused, let out a “hey” and started settling the score.

“Come on, come on, I haven’t even settled the score with you for spilling milk on me. What were you looking at so intently earlier?”

Oh, right. Reminded by him, Wen Zhi almost forgot the main issue.

She glanced at the man’s suit. The fabric was fine and smooth, the stitching meticulous. Though she couldn’t spot any logo, it clearly looked expensive.

“Just great, didn’t even get to eat crab, and now I have to pay for damages. How miserable, wuwuwuwu,” Wen Zhi thought pitifully, feeling utterly sorry for herself.

Guiltily, she looked at Su Wenjing, her slender fingers gently brushing away the last bit of milk stain on the suit. “Senior, should I take it to the dry cleaners and return it to you, or should I just buy you a new one?”

“Oh, the little girl speaks boldly. Do you even know how expensive this suit is before offering to pay?” Su Wenjing’s deep voice carried a hint of amusement.

“Emmmm, how about you tell me the price first?” Wen Zhi wasn’t exactly afraid she couldn’t afford it.

“Just teasing you. No need to pay. If the clothes are dirty, someone will take care of it,” Su Wenjing said indifferently.

“But,” he changed the subject, “have you eaten?”

“Huh?” Wen Zhi was caught off guard by the question, finding it strange why he would ask.

“What do you mean ‘huh’? Alright, whether you’ve eaten or not, treat me to dinner tonight, and we’ll call it even.”

Truthfully, he had noticed the girl occasionally pressing her hand against her stomach earlier, and she seemed somewhat listless. Combined with her recent dance performance, she was probably hungry.

Hearing this request, Wen Zhi hesitated. Going out to eat with someone she’d only met twice, especially at night, felt a bit odd.

Seeing her cautious demeanor, Su Wenjing gritted his teeth, amused and annoyed. Damn, it’s the first time he’s invited a girl to treat him to a meal and been treated like someone with ulterior motives.

“Are you afraid I’ll eat you? Plenty of people invite me to meals, and I don’t even bother. Yet you’re the one who’s scared?”

Having her thoughts seen through, Wen Zhi stammered, unable to get a word out for a long time. After thinking for a while, she finally agreed.

“Just so we’re clear, after I treat you, we’re even.” She was worried the man might make more demands later.

“Deal.”

Su Wenjing took off his jacket, casually holding it in his hand, then took out his phone and called someone still sitting inside the venue.

“Come out, I need the car keys.”

Song Bojian’s grumbling voice immediately came through the phone: “I knew you’d leave early, you dog! And here I am, stuck being your shield!”

“Stop the nonsense and come out now,” Su Wenjing cut him off.

“Fine, fine, fine.”

Song Bojian sauntered out, jingling the car keys in his hand. Before he could even start complaining to Su Wenjing, he spotted a girl standing beside him—pure yet alluring.

He instantly exploded.

Walking up to the two of them, he exclaimed, “Damn, can you be human for once? Leaving me alone inside while you come out here to flirt with some girl?!”

Su Wenjing simply ignored his words, snatched the car keys from his hand, and headed toward the car.

“Hey, what about me?!” Song Bojian finally understood—this guy hadn’t even considered him!

Friendship abandoned for a pretty face!

However, he noticed Wen Zhi still standing nearby. After giving her a once-over, she looked somewhat familiar. “Hey, little sister, weren’t you the one dancing on stage earlier?”

Surprised that he recognized her, Wen Zhi smiled and nodded.

“What’s going on with you two? How did you end up together?” Song Bojian, now forgetting about being abandoned, eagerly started digging for gossip.

After all, although Su Wenjing usually seemed carefree, he’d never let any girl ride in his beloved car before!

But Wen Zhi was straightforward and unapologetic. “Nothing’s going on. We’re not close. Right now, I just owe him a meal.”

She explained their relationship simply and clearly.

Before Song Bojian could ask more, Wen Zhi voiced a question she’d been curious about for a while: “Um, can I ask—are you students at this school?”

Somehow, Wen Zhi felt that while they looked young, they also carried a mature, worldly aura.

“Three years ago, we were.”

Wen Zhi: “!!”

No wonder! Someone who could sit so boldly in the VIP seats couldn’t possibly be a current student!

“What, he didn’t tell you?” Song Bojian asked.

Wen Zhi shook her head and explained, “I didn’t ask.”

Just as Song Bojian was about to say more, a honk interrupted him. Su Wenjing had already driven the car over to Wen Zhi’s side, a faint smirk playing on his lips. “Had enough gossip, President Song?”

“Nope,” Song Bojian replied with an equally teasing smile.

He’d been ditched, and now he couldn’t even ask questions?!

He’d make sure to expose this guy’s misdeeds in their group chat later!

What a jerk!

Su Wenjing couldn’t be bothered with him and motioned for Wen Zhi to get in the car.

Once Wen Zhi was settled, the car started up, its engine roaring, and soon disappeared from sight.

Watching Song Bojian’s figure grow smaller in the rearview mirror, Wen Zhi couldn’t help but turn to the man and ask, “How is he supposed to get back after you left him like that?”

“You’re worried about him? His family has plenty of drivers.”

Alright, never mind.

Once the car had left the school grounds, Su Wenjing casually asked, “Anything you feel like eating?”

Hearing this, Wen Zhi’s eyes lit up. “Oh, can I choose?” she asked excitedly.

She’d already prepared herself for the possibility of not getting to eat crab tonight.

Noticing the girl’s unusually enthusiastic expression, Su Wenjing smiled faintly. “Go ahead and say it. Maybe I’ll agree.”

“I want to eat crab!” Wen Zhi looked at him with hopeful eyes.
