Without delay, Wen Zhi immediately tapped to recall the message.

“What madness are you spouting, Wen Zhi?!” She slapped her forehead in frustration.

It seemed that when she was grabbing her backpack earlier, she had accidentally exited the chat window with her mom. Combined with Su Wenjing’s message from last night, which placed him at the top of the WeChat interface, she had mistakenly tapped on it.Full novel: Cherished Deeply, Gently Doted On — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She silently prayed in her heart, hoping Su Wenjing hadn’t seen the message she had just sent.

However, right at that moment, a message from Su Wenjing suddenly popped up.

No extra words, just a simple “?”

Wen Zhi hesitated for a moment but decided to type an explanation to him. She wrote, “Sorry, I sent that to the wrong person.” Then she sent an awkward emoji.

But Su Wenjing didn’t let it go at that. He directly sent a voice message. Wen Zhi hesitated briefly before tapping to play it.

His voice was deep and magnetic, carrying a hint of teasing: “You little ingrate, replying to others without even considering whether you forgot to reply to mine?”

Hearing this, Wen Zhi couldn’t help but blush.

She really hadn’t figured out how to reply to the voice message he sent last night.

Biting her lip, she typed: 【I just haven’t thought of what to say yet】 and sent a pitiful, timid, and submissive emoji.

【Suit yourself, there’ll be plenty of opportunities.】

Su Wenjing didn’t tease her much further, knowing when to stop to avoid annoying the young lady.

Wen Zhi: 【Okay. jpg】

Wen Zhi breathed a sigh of relief and continued replying to her mom.

Things weren’t as smooth on Su Wenjing’s end. He had stayed up late last night but still arrived at the company punctually early in the morning.

After being busy all morning and just about to take a break, he saw Wen Zhi pop up with a message. Before he could even tap to read it, the young lady immediately recalled it.

Su Wenjing: “?”

Just as he was puzzled, he saw Wen Zhi’s explanation and couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. He pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth and sent that voice message over.

Right at that moment, the office door was gently knocked, and Assistant Chen pushed it open, holding a thick stack of documents.

Su Wenjing looked up. “Mr. Su, these are the documents regarding the Hong Kong collaboration project. We need to go there on a business trip during the National Day holiday. This project is very important. The chairman personally instructed that you must attend the discussions yourself and cannot be absent.”

Assistant Chen, usually lively, now showed a rare hint of seriousness.

After all, this project involved an amount reaching tens of billions.

Su Wenjing took the documents, quickly skimmed through them, then looked up and calmly glanced at Assistant Chen: “Let’s go then. What? Do you want to come along, or should I have Secretary Liu accompany me instead, giving you a holiday to spend National Day with your girlfriend?”

Upon hearing the latter part, Assistant Chen’s eyes instantly lit up, as if seeing a glimmer of hope.

“Mr. Su! You’re finally acting human for once!!”

Assistant Chen was inwardly shouting excitedly when he saw Su Wenjing sneer and toss the documents right back into his arms.

“Get out, go hand over duties to Secretary Liu.”

Su Wenjing curled his lips slightly, his tone carrying a chill. It seemed if the person before him moved a second slower, he could immediately retract those words.

Assistant Chen immediately understood—Mr. Su was just teasing him. Beaming with joy, he held the documents and bowed halfway in a sycophantic manner toward Su Wenjing before walking out, fearing he might change his mind the next second.

“Remember to block me when you post on social media, thanks. I don’t eat dog food.” Su Wenjing added as Assistant Chen was about to leave the office.

“Got it, Mr. Su!” Assistant Chen replied while quickly heading toward the door, already thinking about sharing this exciting news with his girlfriend as soon as possible.

Watching Assistant Chen’s retreating figure, Su Wenjing chuckled softly and shook his head. “Tsk, what a guy.”

As the office quieted down, he couldn’t help but glance at his phone. His thin, pale eyelids drooped lazily as he murmured, “Little Wen.”

“Whether I can get out of singlehood depends on you.”

The National Day holiday arrived as scheduled.

In the bustling southern district of Haishi, there was a tranquil and upscale villa area. Shaded by lush trees and filled with the fragrance of flowers, it was located in the city’s prime location, making the price naturally steep—the cost per square meter was enough to deter ordinary people.

As soon as classes ended on September 30th, Wen Zhi packed a few things from her dormitory and prepared to go home.

She didn’t ask the family driver to pick her up, instead taking a taxi back from school.

Pushing open the front door, Wen Zhi was greeted by a familiar and warm atmosphere.

The housekeeper, Aunt Fang, saw her and greeted her with a beaming smile. “Miss is back! You must be tired from the journey.”

Wen Zhi smiled sweetly and replied, “Not at all, not at all.”

As she stepped into the living room, a chubby little figure rushed over and tightly hugged her leg. It was Wen Zhi’s three-year-old younger brother, Wen Yan. Blinking his big eyes, he said in a childish voice, “Sis, I missed you so much!”

Wen Zhi’s heart warmed. She crouched down, picked up her brother, and walked toward the living room.

“I’m back now, aren’t I?”

Sitting on the living room sofa, she gently stroked her brother’s head and asked softly, “Have you been behaving well lately?”

Wen Yan nodded obediently, speaking earnestly, “I’ve been super good!”

“Oh, sis, wait a moment.”

Then, sliding down from Wen Zhi, the little one toddled upstairs.

Wen Zhi asked curiously, “What are you doing?” Wen Yan turned back and shouted, “I’m getting treasures for sis!” With that, he dashed off and disappeared.

The commotion in the living room was noticeable, and Mom Fang Han hurried over upon hearing her daughter’s voice.

“Zhi Zhi,” Fang Han exclaimed with delight upon seeing Wen Zhi.

“Oh, you’ve lost weight! I’ll have Aunt Fang prepare some nourishing food for you later.”

Fang Han examined Wen Zhi’s arms from side to side and came to a conclusion.

Without exception, parents who haven’t seen their children for a while always start with—you’ve lost weight.

Wen Zhi chuckled helplessly. “Mom, I haven’t lost a single pound!”

“Doesn’t matter, I say you’ve lost weight, so you have! A young girl looks better with a bit of flesh on her!”

In truth, Wen Zhi had a well-proportioned figure, curvaceous yet with a touch of youthful delicacy.

“Alright, alright, whatever you say.” Wen Zhi didn’t argue with her—after all, it wouldn’t make her lose any weight.

Fang Han smiled contentedly, but after looking around, she didn’t see Wen Yan and asked, “Where did that little rascal run off to?”

Wen Zhi replied, “He said he went upstairs to get treasures for me.”

Hearing this, Mom felt a pang of jealousy. Seeing her daughter’s clueless and unaware expression, she explained on Wen Yan’s behalf, “That little guy, while you were away, has been hoarding all sorts of delicious snacks and fun toys for you. Even when your dad and I asked him for some, he wouldn’t give them up! He said they were all saved for his sister.”

Her old mother’s heart was utterly frustrated.

Wen Zhi couldn’t help but laugh out loud upon hearing this, her eyes sparkling with mirth. Still, she couldn’t resist boasting to her mother: “Don’t worry, Mom, I’ll secretly share some with you later.”

Her mother snorted angrily, her tone dripping with sarcasm: “That’s about as filial as you two get!”
