“Married?

To whom?” Xu Anran’s shriek came from the other end of the phone.

someone I don’t know,” Su Li paused, then continued, “I’ll have a chance to tell you about it later.”

“Then, what about Lu Wei?”

At the mention of Lu Wei, an ache throbbed in Su Li’s heart as she said in a low voice, “It was never possible between him and me anyway, he’s too good…”

“Lu Wei, he…” Xu Anran’s voice trailed off mid-sentence, then she stopped, “Forget it, there’s no point talking about that anymore.

Are you still coming to the fan meeting in a few days?”

Summoning her spirits, Su Li replied, “Of course I’m coming, he’s my idol.”

“Alright then, when is the wedding?”

“Next month, I guess.”

“That soon?”

“Yeah, it’s quite rushed.”

“So do I still have time to save up for a wedding gift?” Xu Anran tried to cheer her up with a joke, hearing the low spirits in her voice and knowing that many things couldn’t be explained over the phone.

“There’s time, and let me tell you, you better give a big red envelope, or I’ll cut ties with you.

Oh, and you have to be my bridesmaid.”

“No problem.”

After chatting idly with Xu Anran for quite a while, they finally hung up the phone.

The weather was too hot; the first thing Su Li did after hanging up was to take a shower, but the moment the water hit her foot, she felt a piercing pain again.

She didn’t know how long she would have to suffer like this; if it continued, she might as well say goodbye to her foot.

Even though she had applied alcohol and ointment to her foot, the wounds did not heal within a day.

The following morning before leaving, Su Li patched the injured spots with band-aids again.

But it was futile; the blisters that hadn’t burst before finally ruptured, and a new ring of blisters formed.

“Xiao Li, it’s always like this when you start wearing high heels.

Give it some time, and it’ll get better.

I heard you’re a screenwriter?

Which TV dramas did you write?” Liang Yunqing asked with a smile.

With an embarrassed smile, Su Li said, “Yes, but what I write isn’t very good, it’s embarrassing to mention.”

“What’s there to be embarrassed about?

Only talented people can do this job.

Come on, tell me, and I’ll check it out later.”

Feeling shy, Su Li mentioned two TV dramas, which Liang Yunqing, not being much of a television viewer, naturally hadn’t heard of.

“Alright, I’ll ask someone to get them for me to watch.

Go on with your practice, I won’t disturb you any longer, and come for lunch later,” she said.

“Okay.”

After practicing a bit more, a servant called her for lunch, so Su Li went downstairs wearing 10 centimeter high heels.

But after two days of practice, she was still not accustomed to them, and while walking down the stairs at the turn, she lost her balance and fell.

She thought she was surely a goner this time, only to find after a long wait that no pain came.

Opening one eye cautiously, Su Li saw the unfamiliar yet handsome face before her and only then did she belatedly realize what had happened.

Her eyes suddenly widened; she grabbed the handrail and then used it to stand up.

“I’m sorry, thank you,” she said awkwardly.

The woman before him was petite and charming, and although not stunningly beautiful at first glance, she had a durable appeal, especially those bright and clear big eyes, which had crashed directly into his heart from that first look.

Wei Linfeng bent down to pick up the black-rimmed glasses from the ground and handed them to her, asking, “Are you alright?”

Su Li shook her head and asked, “Who are you?”

Wei Linfeng smiled and countered, “And who might you be?”

“Su Li.”

“Oh…

so you’re Su Li, delighted to meet you.

I’m Wei Linfeng.”
