Su Yi directly used her mind to split the logs into long wooden planks. Putting on a pair of gloves, she began assembling them.
There was no need to lay a proper foundation; she could just lay the wooden planks straight across the ground.
As for the walls, she worked hard to piece the planks together as neatly as possible, and surprisingly, encountered no major issues. Instead of building one entire room before starting the next, she constructed the house assembly-line style.
However, when she reached the roofing step, a problem arose—she wasn’t tall enough!
“Boohoo… Waah…” Su Yi fake-cried for a moment while racked her brain for a solution.
“Got it! I can just stand on a table!” Quickly dragging a table over, Su Yi climbed on top and got to work. Because she was building with great care, she didn’t make any mistakes.
By the end of the day, Su Yi had finally finished building the house. However, the courtyard hadn’t been cordoned off yet, and she had run out of timber, so she had no choice but to call it a day.
She didn’t need much more anyway; she just wanted to get some bamboo or slender logs, saw them a bit shorter, and drive them straight into the ground to serve a decorative purpose.
Su Yi wanted to move into her new home that very night, so she immediately used her mind to transfer the necessary furniture from the shopping mall into their respective places. For the time being, there was no bed in the bedroom. For the walk-in closet, she directly moved over the clothing racks from a boutique. The bathroom was pieced together from different sections, but she managed to make a complete set. The kitchen and dining room were, naturally, fully equipped. For the living room, she scavenged a coffee table and a sofa set from the mall. There was no urgent need for the study yet, so she just placed a simple desk inside. As for the storage room, she went to the supermarket and relocated an entire display shelf.
Su Yi planned to make herself a solid wood king-size bed, but she didn’t want to leave the dimension to look for timber today. Peering outside, it was pitch black—so dark you couldn’t see your own hand in front of your face—making her even less daring to venture out.
“I’ll just make do on the sofa for tonight! My temporary big bed is still back in the mountain cave. There’s no helping it; it wouldn’t be worth the loss if I ran into wild beasts,” Su Yi said, heavily prioritizing her own survival.
“Tomorrow, I must gather a lot more timber to have on hand for future use. The wood here is all premium material. Once I leave the mountains, using wood like this will cost me my own money.” Su Yi plotted her plans for the next day’s freeloading with absolutely zero guilt.
Su Yi didn’t cook dinner for herself. After a whole day of house building, she didn’t want to exhaust herself any further. She simply grabbed some prepared dishes from a restaurant in the mall, ate a quick meal, washed up, and went to bed.
The next day, Su Yi struggled to get up from the sofa, her eyes still blurry with sleep. “This sofa is really nice, I slept so comfortably!”
Su Yi glanced at the time and saw it was already eight o’clock. She snapped awake instantly, remembering she still had a bed to make and a courtyard to build. “I need to hurry up, wash up, and eat breakfast. I have to get to work in a bit!” Su Yi mumbled to herself as she walked toward the bathroom.
Twenty minutes later, Su Yi emerged from the dimension, ready to throw herself into a new day of house construction.
Su Yi jumped up and down a couple of times to stretch her muscles. Then, she shuttled through the mountain forests to select trees and bamboo, making her choices in no time.
Timber was the most abundant thing in the mountain forest—it could be considered a local specialty. Because of this, Su Yi worked very quickly. Once she transferred the raw lumber into her dimension, she headed back to build her bed and fashion her large courtyard.
Su Yi estimated the amount of wood needed for the bed and swiftly used her mind to cut the timber into pieces. Perhaps because she had spent all of yesterday building, her hands-on skills had become exceptionally sharp. She assembled the bed at lightning speed.
Looking at the finished bed, and then taking a tour around every corner of the house, a sense of accomplishment welled up in Su Yi’s heart.
“Now then, next up is building my grand courtyard!”
No sooner said than done. After estimating how much wood it would take to enclose the area around the spiritual spring and confirming the amount, Su Yi rapidly used her mind to chop the slender logs into equal segments, then began digging holes to bury the posts.
Relying on her newly enhanced strength, Su Yi worked with her head down like a brute force warrior. Before long, a large courtyard had been fully enclosed by her. She did get tired during the process, but whenever she did, she just drank some spiritual spring water to replenish her stamina.
Su Yi watched as the wooden stakes were driven into the soil one by one, forming a beautiful ring of fencing. It looked incredibly rustic and pleasing to the eye!
Lifting her wrist to check her watch, it was twelve o’clock again—time for lunch. Su Yi grabbed a box of self-heating instant hotpot from the supermarket and paired it with a large steamed bun for her midday meal.
As Su Yi ate, she looked at her large courtyard. “I still need to plant a few trees and add a table and two chairs. The tables and chairs from the shopping mall won’t do; it has to be the solid wood kind. I want to design this courtyard with a rustic, idyllic pastoral style.”
“I’d better just go out and buy them later! My own craftsmanship won’t look good, and I don’t know how to make that kind of lounge chair anyway.” Su Yi quickly made her decision.
After finishing her lunch, Su Yi exited the dimension. This time, she had a specific goal—to find fruit trees. She wanted the trees in her courtyard to be fruit-bearing ones.
Of course, it was impossible for her to pass up any good things she encountered along the way. The mountain forest was lush and dense, and the sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled spots of light onto the ground, creating a beautiful scenery.
Su Yi stopped and started along the way, discovering quite a few good things. Suddenly, her eyes lit up as she spotted a few peach tree saplings. Their tender green leaves looked bursting with life under the shining sun.
Su Yi didn’t care at all that they were just saplings. With the nourishment of the spiritual spring water, she believed it wouldn’t be long before she would have large, sweet peaches to eat. With a single thought, she collected all the saplings into her dimension.
Su Yi only planted one peach tree in the courtyard; combined with the original plum tree, it was just about right. She didn’t want the courtyard to look too crowded, and once the peach tree grew large, it would fill the space nicely.
She then hurriedly gave the peach tree a generous dousing of spiritual spring water. True to its expectations, the peach tree began to grow at a speed visible to the naked eye.
“If only I could find a grapevine. Then I could sit under the grape trellis, drink tea, have barbecues, and pet my cat.” Su Yi was incredibly fond of her courtyard. It gave her a visual sense of building a doomsday safety shelter, making her both obsessed and filled with a sense of security.
After watering the peach tree, Su Yi left the dimension. Remembering the traps she had set in the forest earlier, she decided to check on them; perhaps some prey had fallen in again.
Su Yi followed the route in her memory, treading lightly the entire way for fear of startling the animals in the forest. Ever since she encountered wolves, she had actually become a little bit timid. If she ran into ferocious beasts again and failed to dodge in time, getting injured would be a disaster.
When she arrived at the first trap, a plump, silly rabbit was inside. The wild rabbit was still struggling hard in the pit despite being injured. Seeing Su Yi approach, the rabbit scurried about even more frantically. With a thought, Su Yi swept it into her dimension, letting it settle down wherever it landed inside.
The trap next to it, however, gave Su Yi a massive surprise—a wild mountain goat.
This wild goat was robustly built. Even though it had two iron skewers stuck in its body, it was still bashing blindly back and forth inside the pit, its hooves kicking up clouds of dust. It had no clear objective and was just lunging around, likely because it couldn’t climb out.
Su Yi directly pulled out a sharp bone-chopping cleaver and hurled it at the mountain goat, hitting it square in the abdomen. The goat instantly collapsed to the ground, its belly heaving up and down as it gasped for air. Su Yi the brave seemed to have engaged in a gamble against the mountain goat, and without a doubt, Su Yi emerged victorious. The goat finally breathed its last.
With an instantaneous transfer, Su Yi moved all her prey into the room specifically designated for game. Carrying her bountiful harvest, Su Yi continued to forge ahead.
