Lily felt like a bunch of fireworks were exploding inside her, one after another.
The heat and itch inside her body were taking over her, making her rational thoughts drift away almost instantly.
For a moment, she lost herself in the sensation, closing her eyes as she followed her instinct.
As Ren tasted her sweet lips, his tongue began prying in, and Lily did not try to fight back.
She opened her lips slightly, allowing his tongue to meet hers, and the strange itch beneath her navel almost made her scream because she could barely bear it anymore.
And then…
“My Lord!
My Lord, t-there is an intruder!” The voice of the servant outside the tent broke the tension immediately.
Lily regained her clarity and opened her eyes.
She stared at those ruby-like eyes in horror before using all her strength to push him away.
Ren licked his lips as he let her go.
His ruby-red eyes glinted dangerously at Lily, whose chest was heaving and whose eyes were still unfocused.
She was unable to understand what she had just done.
“You passed the first test,” Ren stated before getting up from the bed and fixing his robe, covering his bare chest entirely.
His fox ears twitched as his grin widened.
He seemed rather excited as he turned toward Lily and said, “That filthy mutt is here.” * Gareth entered the barrier inside the Great Forest that separated the human and beast realms.
It had been a while since he had walked into it, but ever since the Priestess vanished, the barrier’s strength had been waning.
Thus, it was not a surprise that beastfolk other than the four beast monarchs were able to accidentally leave the barrier.
And that white fox must have been one of them.
Ren, that devious fox, always came to the Court of Moonlight with a woman whom he called his “spouse.” Though none of his spouses were soul-bound to him.
To put it bluntly, all of them were merely female companions.
Gareth found that habit to be filthy.
He had been raised as the future Alpha of the West Wolf Pack, destined to govern over the entirety of the western territory of the Beast Realm.
He had been raised to believe in love and loyalty, to mark only one mate and make her the Luna of the West Wolf Pack.
They would govern their territory together, produce a dozen wolf pups, and select the strongest among them to become the next Alpha.
Ren should have been the same.
He could only soul-bind with one woman as his true spouse, and he had not made that decision yet.
But that did not stop him from enjoying the company of many ladies in his pastime.
Gareth gritted his teeth as he ran faster through the forest, picking up the scent of Ren and Lily mingling together.
He was not worried about Lily being soul-bound to that devious fox because he knew that Ren would not be interested in a human.
But that did not mean he could not ravage her body.
“Grrrhhh…” Gareth was unable to control his anger as he ran faster until he practically leaped through the woods.
It had been a while since he had shifted into his wolf form, and he was still not at his prime strength yet.
It should have taken only an hour to reach the fox camp as they traveled toward the Lake of Fate for the Court of Moonlight.
But now, it took him six hours to finally see the signature red and gold tents that belonged only to the East Fox Clan.
The scent of Lily was getting fainter as he drew near, which possibly meant that she was inside a tent filled with the strong scent of a fox or incense, something that Ren would likely use to conceal her scent.
The fox soldiers guarding the gate were alarmed when they saw a black wolf carrying an enormous aura, almost at the same level as their Fox Lord.
The beastmen quickly shifted into their human forms and grabbed their spears, knowing that they would be at a disadvantage against a wolf of such strength, especially since they possessed none of their lord’s powerful magic.
“Halt your steps!
This is Fox Clan territory…” Before the fox soldier could finish his sentence, Gareth had already unsheathed his claws, moving with such incredible speed that neither of the soldiers could even see him.
By the time they realized what had happened, they were already bleeding as they fell to the ground.
Gareth stormed into the East Fox Clan camp without hesitation, but once inside, he had to fight against dozens of soldiers.
Since he was not yet at his prime, Gareth could only keep his eyes on the biggest tent, where he noticed the faint scent of Lily.
He gritted his teeth and howled out of frustration, ready to fight to the death for as long as it took if that was what he needed to save his woman from the clutches of his enemy.
AWOOOOO!!!
Right at that moment, a man with nine fox tails swaggered into the crowd, his gait full of leisure, as if there were not a huge black wolf ready to kill anyone in sight standing right in front of him.
“Must you howl so loudly, mutt?” “GIVE ME BACK MY WOMAN!” Gareth’s voice was like thunder in a clear sky before he lunged toward Ren, his sharp claws fully unsheathed and ready to kill with a single slash.
Yet, Ren remained completely unbothered.
He simply raised his hand, and an invisible barrier appeared before him.
Then, as if Gareth had struck a solid metal wall, his attack was intercepted perfectly.
“Hmm, I heard that the Alpha of the West Wolf Pack lost his wolf and has been missing for a while, with a risk of him not appearing in this year’s Court of Moonlight,” Ren commented.
“I guess the rumor is true, huh?
You’ve regained your wolf, but it is far weaker than before.
You could have at least broken the barrier I set up with your attack if you were still in your prime.” “Grrhhh!” Gareth growled, caring nothing about whether he had to fight to the death against this bastard.
He just wanted to make sure that Lily was safe by his side.
“Did losing your woman cause you to regain your wolf?” Ren asked with a smirk.
“Then the West Wolf Pack should send me a gift of gratitude for helping their Alpha.” “In your dreams!” Gareth yelled before lunging at him for the second time.
