24: Chapter 13.1 Oh No, My Cultist Dough Game!
When I looked to my side, I saw Lancelot, his eyes gleaming, the excitement of the battle not yet faded.
It must have been his first time killing someone, but he didn’t seem mentally affected at all.
So I asked.
“Isn’t this your first time murdering someone?” “Hm?
Ah!
They’re criminals.
So it’s not murder, it’s retribution, retribution, hehe.” Hearing this from the front, the Weakling’s body shook violently.
We continued walking.
“…Do whatever you want.” “Damn it!
Liam!
I like you!” ‘Crazy bastard…’ This guy isn’t sane either.
Nobles will be nobles; it seems they don’t see people who cross the line as human.
I decided to leave the character education of this aspiring serial killer to Maxim and just kept walking.
Sorry, Maxim…
“W-We’ve arrived.” The place the Weakling guided us to was a single-story house in relatively better condition than the surrounding buildings.
As soon as he finished guiding us, the Weakling quickly knelt and begged.
“Please spare me!
I’ll live without ever committing a crime again!” “Oh?
You catch on quick.” “Please, just spare my life!” Not wanting to hear any more, I knocked him out, broke all four of his limbs, and threw him into a back alley.
This should be enough for a guide fee.
“Well then, shall we go in?” “Should I use some force?” I stopped Lancelot, who was about to slice the door in half with his sword, and instead lightly twisted the doorknob a few times, breaking it before opening the door.
Even though we entered quietly, two men in white priest robes holding candles stood before us.
“W-Who are you?” Since we were caught anyway, I lit up the house with Light Magic, and the two priests covered their eyes from the sudden light.
Looking around, the stacked wooden boxes contained only bread, and there was nothing else.
“Ugh!
Who are you!
We are priests dispatched from the Church of Light!” The men before me shouted, but mana doesn’t lie.
“Church of Light priests living in the slum without an escort and distributing food?
I’ve never seen or heard of such a business plan.” I heightened my Eye Power and focused on my Mana Perception.
Then, the color of mana I saw on the floor behind the priests was distinctly different.
“It’s the floor over there!
Lancelot, let’s tear it up.” “Where are you talking about?
There?” As I pointed, Lancelot slowly walked over with his hand on his sword, and the priests’ eyes changed.
“You wicked ones who dare to block the Great One’s path!
I will appease His fury with your blood!” “I knew it.” Then, a black aura erupted from the two priests, and black thorns shot out from under Lancelot’s feet.
Lancelot dodged with a quick jump, and in front of me, black tentacles crawled toward me.
“Hm…
this looks like it’s going to be a pain…” After some thought, I clapped twice.
Clap clap!
At that, four black shadows instantly entered from outside the door, and in the blink of an eye, both of the priests’ arms were severed.
“Aaaaargh!” Gracefully moving hands.
The two who cut off the arms instantly forced the priests to their knees, while the other shadows reached into their open mouths to remove their poison sacs, and finally, struck the backs of their necks to knock them out.
At this beautiful division of labor, I could only stare blankly and clap.
“Huh?
What’s this?” “Alright, Lancelot, that’s enough playing around.
His Majesty sent people, so let’s hand these priests over to them.” “Eh?
What…
it suddenly got boring.” ‘Crazy bastard…’ Two shadows each slung a priest over their shoulders, and two shadows came before me and knelt on one knee.
“Send those two to the Imperial Castle Underground Prison, leave only enough people outside to stand guard, and have everyone else come in.
We’re tearing up that floor and going in.” The shadow nodded, went outside, and returned a few seconds later with two more shadows.
“Opening the floor.
Everyone get ready.” “A bigger evil species…
evil species…” Ignoring the dopamine junkie’s mumbling, I tore up the floor, revealing a large magic circle.
“Huh?” “Huh?
There’s no passageway.” Feeling something was off, I was about to rotate a Circle to analyze the magic circle, when one of the shadows brought over a severed arm and drew a line straight down with it.
Blood flowed down into the magic circle, filling the pattern of the magic circle.
It then lit up, and the floor split open, revealing a dark passage.
Lancelot and I just stared blankly and clapped.
“This is the Imperial House?
Excellent.” “Ah, this is our proud organization.
I will be sure to remember it.” The shadows, bowing their heads awkwardly, went in one by one.
“Hm…
wanna go in?” Before I could even finish, Lancelot was already excitedly trotting after the shadows.
‘Crazy bastard…’ Muttering the words I’d said countless times today, I followed, only to see a dark, gloomy passage.
“Tsk tsk, you creepy bastards.
How do you live in a place like this.” The shadows flinched at the vulgar words in my muttering, but I used Light Magic to brighten our vision and walked on.
In front of the door that came into view, dazed-looking vagrants were standing in a line.
“Quietly knock them all out and take them outside.” The shadows moved as soon as the order was given.
‘Is this…
power?’ With a single snap, everything proceeds smoothly.
I was still marveling at this high-end outsourcing when the job was already finished.
The shadows stood there blankly, waiting for an order.
“Enter, and you can kill everyone except for one.” Upon opening the iron door, the scene inside was of cultists sitting in a circle around a large magic circle, gouging out their hearts and letting the blood flow onto it.
The flowing blood was being absorbed by a black insect egg in the center of the magic circle.
Behind the cultists were piles of heartless corpses, and the corpses, regardless of being adults or children, were all smiling.
The cultists’ gazes focused on the open door.
Then, from behind the black egg, a narrow-eyed man wearing a white priest robe unbefitting of the place walked out.
“My, my~ Who might these uninvited guests be, entering the ritual for the Great One with muddy feet?” He talks like a real asshole, just as you’d expect from a narrow-eyed character.
How dare they pull this shit inside the capital city?
My head grew hot, and my Circles spun violently.
I’m going to kill that bastard myself.
“Shut up!
What are you all gaping at?
Stop spacing out and kill all those cultist bastards!” “My, my, it seems some education is in order.” ‘My, my my ass.’ Hearing the order, the shadows charged, and the surrounding cultists stopped what they were doing to protect the narrow-eyed character.
A standoff formed between the cultists and the shadows, and naturally, Lancelot, the narrow-eyed character, and I faced each other.
The narrow-eyed character grinned and summoned a magic circle.
I wasn’t about to let him.
