Mercury knew who that voice belonged to so he didn’t bother opening the door. Emilia continued banging on the door.
" Open this damn door, Mercury I’m your fiancée you bastard how dare you ignore me?"
She was getting frustrated, this was the first time Mercury didn’t answer immediately when she called.
’ What’s wrong with him, ever since that day he’s been acting strange, he hasn’t even come to check on me.’
Emilia didn’t know why but she felt a bit worried, ’ This bastard, is he throwing a tantrum?
Does he expect me to apologise to him, ha, he must be dreaming, I’ll ignore him until he comes back crawling.’
Emilia huffed a d flung her hair, " Don’t regret this Mercury, don’t you come crawling to me after you ignored me."
Mercury heard her footsteps getting further away, he sighed, " Honestly dude, what the fuck did you see in that?"
The memories of the previous Mercury were embarrassing to say the least, even when Emilia treated him like rubbish he was always there.
When she wanted something he would go out of his way to buy it for her, when she wanted a magic item.
Mercury sold everything he’s been saving for the past four years and bought the magic item for her.
The next day he saw it on Marcus instead, she had given the magic item he bought her to another man.
Even then, while hurt he still didn’t hate her, he still wanted to help her, wasted money learning alchemy so he could make potions for her.
" Well I wouldn’t call that a waste, those potions are my only means of income at the moment."
Unlike other young masters, Mercury didn’t exactly receive any support from his family, he earned everything he had.
Which made what he did so much worse, alchemy was not easy or safe, the risk of poisoning was high.

He had no reason to attend any classes, there was nothing more the academy could teach him.
Mercury spent the day practicing using bolts of other elements and they were all as easy as fire bolt.
" My casting speed is still stuck at 2 seconds but I’m getting used to it, soon I should be able to cast the bolt instantaneously."
He continued practicing over and over again with different bolts, " Although I can use bolts from all elements, fire and water seem to be the ones I’m more comfortable with."
He didn’t stop practicing the other elements but his focus was mostly on fire and water for the whole day.
Before going to be bed, he meditated increasing his mana pool once more, when he put the rings back on.
They suppressed his mana to around 15 percent of his full mana pool, be didn’t add another ring.
He wanted to reach 50 percent with the rings on first before putting on more rings. Just like days four days went by.
" Bolt." A fire bolt appeared on his palm then another and another and in a blink of an 8 fire bolts were floating around him.
" My casting speed has reached instantaneous cast and I can create and maintain multiple bolts at once now.

One can change the shape of the bolts to basically any shape and that’s what he was going to train next.
Using the 8 fire bolts around him he closed his eyes and imagined arrows, slowly he started changing their form.
" Its harder than I thought but not impossible." Mercury felt a bit excited, this was similar to casting different spells.
10 seconds later, all the fire bolt had taken the form of arrows 40 cm long. He fired them.
Th fire arrows flew through the air faster than a standard bolts and he detonated them more than a hundred metres away.
" Their explosive power hasn’t dropped and they’re much faster than a standard bolt." He smiled.
He spent the rest of the day training mana form change, by the following day he had mastered it.
" My learning speed is increasing as well, fire bolt." Instead of the standard ball shape bolt, fire arrows appeared around him.
Then water arrows, he conjured arrows from every element he had, in less than 3 seconds he was surrounded by more than a hundred arrows.
" They’re all still at F rank but so many arrows from different elements would prove difficult even for the so called geniuses."
Mercury felt proud, after being bullied and considered weak for so long he finally found a way to protect himself.
Instead of practicing more form changes he wanted to make a stronger bolt, he meditated increasing his mana.
Then went to sleep and when he woke up he felt refreshed, Mercury sat cross legged and formed a bolt of pure mana.
He continued pouring more and more mana into it, the bolt grew in size from the size of a human head.
It grew to twice that size, " This is the peak of F rank, if I pour more mana, I’ll create an E rank bolt."
He knew it would not be easy, he could already feel a strain on his mind just holding this bolt.
He took a deep breath and poured more mana, the bolt broke the limit finally reaching E grade.
Mercury gritted his teeth, veins popped on his forehead, beards of sweat rolled down his face.
Poof, the bolt exploded like a balloon, the shockwave sent him flying across the room, " Ouch that fucken hurt."
He wiped the blood off his lips and sat cross legged to heal, he created a mana bolt with nature mana and used it on himself.
His vitality surged, his wounds regenerated rapidly. 20 seconds later he was back to his full strength.
" I’m still not strong enough to hold an E rank level mana bolt, I need more training so in the meantime..."
Mercury made up his mind, 2 weeks flew by and his mastery of the mana bolts had reached a new level.
At the back of his house, Mercury was floating a few metres above ground, his entire body was surrounded by blue glow.
" I’ll call this mana skin but I need to do something about its glowing, I guess I’ll try that."
Mercury had fully adjusted to being in this world, he fully understood his situation and knew everything was on him.
He landed gently on the ground and cast a spell on himself, it was a very basic auxiliary spell.
It was just a parlour trick used to change of things, he used it on the mana skin changing its blue glow to match whatever the mana skin touched.
This included his clothes as well as the exposed part of his body making it impossible to tell it was there.
Mercury suddenly heard footsteps, he saw a teacher approaching his house. " Good evening sir, how can I help you?" Mercury asked.
" Mercury Al’Karl? You have been signed up for the academy tournament that will happen in 2 months.
Make sure to attend or you’ll be expelled from the academy." Said the teacher, he gave Mercury the notice then left.
" Academy tournament? When the fuck did I apply for that?"
