Inside the villa’s living room.

Jennifer looked around at the luxurious decor of the villa, a hint of envy in her eyes.

Although she was the school queen at Clam Shell Town High, few knew she came from an ordinary broken home.Full novel: Defeating Horror with Horrors — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She worked tirelessly to maintain her glamorous facade.

If she ever faltered or stumbled, those little bitches and self-proclaimed best friends would be the first to step on her.

It wasn’t that she lacked rich suitors, but compared to Dan Lee, they paled into insignificance.

Not to mention, his family owned a European-style castle.

Of course, those were secondary factors.

The main reason was that Dan Lee himself was handsome and powerful.

In the past, school bullies had tried to mess with him, but no matter how many goons they brought, they all ended up on their knees begging for mercy.

If Jennifer got together with Dan Lee, those bitches would only boil with envy, rather than spreading rumors about her being kept by some wealthy businessman.

With those thoughts swirling in her head, Jennifer’s gaze on Dan Lee turned increasingly intense.

She was genuinely starting to like him.

Jennifer sat on Dan Lee’s sofa and asked with concern, “I heard your expedition team ran into trouble.

Are you okay…” Dan Lee leaned back on the sofa, clutching a cushion as he looked at Jennifer.

“Hold on.

First, tell me if you’ve experienced anything unusual lately.” “Unusual things?

Why bring that up out of nowhere?” Jennifer asked.

Dan Lee didn’t mince words and laid it straight out: “Because I suspect you’ve been targeted by a demon or an evil spirit.” Jennifer reacted as if hearing a joke.

She rested a hand against Dan Lee’s cheek and looked at him intently.

“Darling, are you joking?

Or did those terrorists scare you back during the expedition?

Come on—demons and evil spirits aren’t real.

If you’re scared, I’ll stay here with you, okay?” “I’m not joking.” Dan Lee brushed Jennifer’s hand away, completely serious.

When he asked her a serious question, she actually turned around to comfort him.

Her train of thought was weird.

Jennifer sighed helplessly.

“Fine, let me think…

I guess there have been a few strange things.

Sometimes I distinctly remember locking the door, but when I wake up, it’s unlocked.” “And sometimes the TV turns on by itself in the middle of the night.

But those don’t prove anything, right?

Even if they’re a bit odd.” Jennifer shrugged, still refusing to take it seriously.

Those things could all be explained away as accidents.

Maybe she had just forgotten to lock the door?

Hearing this, Dan Lee booted up the computer on the coffee table, logged onto a horror discussion forum, and searched for signs of evil demonic invasion.

These were conclusions drawn by a university professor who studied paranormal occurrences, posted on the site by horror enthusiasts.

The professor’s work detailed abnormal phenomena—the classic warning signs of invasion by demons, evil entities, or ghosts.

1.

Environmental Anomalies: Objects moving for no reason, sudden temperature drops, electrical appliances switching on or off unexpectedly, especially accompanied by unexplained sounds or thermal shifts when alone.

2.

Physical Abnormalities: Unexplained bruises appearing overnight, abnormal body temperature, frequent illness, or strong aversion to certain scents.

3.

Dream Disturbances: Frequent nightmares featuring horrific scenes, or even experiencing sleep paralysis.

In addition to these three points, there were mental and emotional symptoms—such as becoming short-tempered, suffering from chronic insomnia, or experiencing trance-like states and self-doubt.

Or frequently talking to oneself, conversing with thin air.

Do not doubt it: the demonic invasion has reached an advanced stage.

Leave immediately and report to the Church.

Below the post was an embedded video clip.

A woman had her back turned while cooking in the kitchen, when a chair suddenly began rocking on its own.

After watching the video, Dan Lee explained, “This university professor is pretty famous.

His name is Goodman, and he specializes in paranormal studies.

He even gives lectures.” He naturally recognized the professor, who was the very man who conducted the experiment in *The Dark Tapes*.

He had heard of that found-footage horror movie, though he wasn’t familiar with all the details.

Supposedly, it was about researching demons, ghosts, and even aliens…

The reason Dan Lee didn’t know the specifics was that he had only heard about it from friends.

He hadn’t dared to watch the found-footage film alone because its raw realism was so terrifying it caused physical discomfort.

Now, however, he planned to find an opportunity to meet the professor—or at least attend one of his open lectures.

He heard audience members could ask questions.

Jennifer didn’t overthink it.

Since it was broad daylight and Dan Lee was beside her, she naturally didn’t believe it without seeing it firsthand.

“Darling, what does a video like this prove?

Tons of movies are scarier than this.

Someone pulling a transparent string off-camera could easily pull that off.

Stop being so paranoid, alright?” Tsk.

Dan Lee really wanted to summon the Evil Spirit Wendigo to give Jennifer a good scare, but on second thought, he decided against it.

There was no need.

“If you don’t believe me, then we have nothing left to talk about.” “No, we have plenty of things left to talk about.” “Like what?” Jennifer removed the cushion from Dan Lee’s chest, straddled his waist on the sofa, and looked down at him.

“Like our feelings for each other.” Dan Lee paused in silence before speaking.

“Take me to your house to check it out.” Judging by what she had described, she was already showing signs of demonic targeting.

Still, considering that particular demon preferred eating human brains after possession, it probably wasn’t overly powerful.

Jennifer sat square on his lap, her red lips breathing softly against his face.

“Of course, darling.

But in exchange, aren’t you going to give me a tour of your family’s castle?” “Deal.” Dan Lee viewed this as a transaction; containment items were crucial to him.

Jennifer took his response as acceptance.

Before Dan Lee could react, her red lips sealed against his.

Feeling the soft, smooth touch on his lips, Dan Lee froze for a moment.

Mmph…

Though it was sudden, Dan Lee was a man after all.

Instinctively, his hands rested on Jennifer’s slim waist and slowly slid lower.

After a passionate kiss…

Jennifer gazed down at the handsome face beneath her and asked teasingly, “How was that?” Dan Lee blinked in confusion.

“How was what?” Jennifer leaned down and blew softly into Dan Lee’s ear.

“How does it feel?” Without batting an eye or blushing, Dan Lee gave a slight squeeze.

“Mm, very good.” Jennifer burst out laughing.

She loved Dan Lee’s stoic demeanor.

“You clearly enjoy it, so why the serious face, darling?” Dan Lee stayed quiet.

He wasn’t about to let a woman play him.

*Still playing cool!* With flushed cheeks, Jennifer was actually getting turned on as well, though she hid it adeptly.

Dan Lee tapped Jennifer’s shoulder, signaling for her to get off.

“Alright, off you get.

Let me check out your place first.” He was far more interested in the demon attached to Jennifer right now.

“Visiting my place can wait.

Let me enjoy this a bit more first.” Jennifer was clearly insatiable.

She raised her head slightly and wrapped her arms around Dan Lee’s neck, demanding another passionate kiss.

Although Jennifer enjoyed a reputation as the local beauty in Clam Shell Town, Dan Lee was genuinely her first man.

Her goals had always been crystal clear: find someone wealthy, strong, and handsome.

To put it simply, she craved power and status; everything else came second.

Few guys at school met her criteria.

Most men outside were wealthy businessmen looking to keep her as a trophy.

Coupled with the constant rumors spread by those bitches and fake friends…

As shrewd as Jennifer was, how could she settle for just any boyfriend?

Besides, she had been eyeing Dan Lee for a long time.

Almost everyone at school was head over heels for her, except Dan Lee, the exchange student, who kept his distance.

To Jennifer, conquering this young man carried a thrilling sense of accomplishment.

Now that she had succeeded with the first man she was intimately close to, how could she not crave more?
