“Kill it!
Senior, you’re not joking, are you?!
How could I possibly do that?!” Tanjiro looked at Shin in utter surprise, clearly not understanding his words.
Shouldn’t Shin do this himself?
How could he possibly bring himself to do it!
“If you can’t do it, how will you protect your sister?
How will you avenge your family?
Or have you already let go of your hatred and are prepared to live a life of ignominy like this?” Shin questioned Tanjiro.
Tanjiro shook his head and denied it, “No!”
“If not, then kill the guy in front of you!” Shin’s tone carried an irresistible authority.
“The path you’re about to walk is even more treacherous than this!”
Tanjiro dared not say anything more.
Hesitantly, he drew the small knife from his waist and held it in front of the demon head.
Just then, a hand reached out from behind Tanjiro and placed it on his shoulder.
“That thing can’t kill it!” a slightly aged voice rang out.
Both Shin and Tanjiro were startled.
They both looked in the direction of the voice and saw a man wearing a tengu mask, a headscarf, and a sky-blue robe with water ripple patterns printed on it.
Judging from the aged voice, this man was at least over fifty years old.
Despite his age, his body was unusually upright, and he exuded vitality.
What surprised Shin was that he hadn’t noticed the old man approaching at all.
If the man had wanted to harm him, he would probably have been killed by now.
Just as Shin was reflecting on this, he suddenly remembered the old man’s identity.
This was the person Tanjiro was looking for — Urokodaki Sakonji.
[Urokodaki Sakonji: A practitioner of the Water Breathing style, and also a trainer for new Demon Slayers in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Giyu Tomioka is one of his disciples.]
“Then how can we kill it?” Tanjiro asked, shocked.
“Don’t ask others.
Can’t you use your own brain?” Urokodaki Sakonji replied.
After speaking, Urokodaki Sakonji looked at Shin, who gave a faint smile of respect.
Tanjiro began to think.
Eventually he picked up a large rock, but when it came to actually striking it, Tanjiro hesitated.
“Ah~ this child is no good.
Too considerate of others and unable to make a decision,” Urokodaki Sakonji murmured to himself, observing Tanjiro’s behavior.
“Even when facing a demon, his gentle nature hasn’t disappeared.
He even has compassion for demons.
Giyu, is this the child you found?”
Shin watched quietly from the sidelines and said nothing more.
Now that Tanjiro’s true mentor had appeared, Shin saw no need to force himself on him anymore.
Time passed slowly, and the unconscious demon gradually awoke.
“You bastard!
I’ll kill you!
Come here!
Hey!
I can’t get over there, you come here, hey!”
The demon head, nailed to the tree trunk by an axe, brandished its two arms growing from its head and yelled at the hesitant Tanjiro.
Just then, the sun gradually rose, and the sunlight quickly shone down.
The demon, exposed to the sunlight, began to burn and gradually disappear, emitting painful howls.
Finally, the demon head vanished completely before Tanjiro’s eyes.
