Unable to make out what the doctor said after that, Rong Yan felt as if she’d been struck by lightning.

She was pregnant!

Well, that made sense. She and Jiang Yuhan had never used protection, and they’d been married for nearly a year now. Wasn’t pregnancy only natural?Full novel: Divorce, I Don’t Want to Be a Stand-in Anymore. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Seeing Jiang Yuhan finish his phone call, Rong Yan hurriedly said to the doctor.

“Please don’t tell my husband about my pregnancy just yet. I want to surprise him.”

The doctor smiled and nodded, replying with a simple “Alright.”

Closing the balcony door, Jiang Yuhan strode quickly over to the doctor.

“Young Master Jiang, Miss Rong’s body is somewhat weak. She needs plenty of rest and balanced nutrition. She absolutely must not overexert herself.”

The doctor didn’t prescribe Rong Yan any medication, and added that she could be discharged at any time.

As for the reminder about regular prenatal check-ups, the doctor whispered that part to Rong Yan.

Fortunately, it was a female doctor. Otherwise, being that close to Rong Yan, Young Master Jiang would have already thrown a punch at him.

After watching the doctor leave, Rong Yan remained in a state of high tension the entire time.

If Jiang Yuhan found out she was pregnant, would he think that she, a stand-in, wasn’t worthy of bearing his child?

On the other hand, if Jiang Yuhan wanted this child, then she’d be even less able to get a divorce.

The man was studying her with a sharp, piercing gaze. “You overexerted yourself?”

Rong Yan’s face flushed, and she said somewhat indignantly.

“Isn’t that the truth? I didn’t get any sleep last night because of you, and I didn’t sleep the night before either. The civil affairs bureau is still open—we can go handle the divorce procedures now.”

Jiang Yuhan slapped the table beside him, but before he could voice his threat, he saw Rong Yan bury herself entirely under the blanket, not even leaving her eyes exposed.

Pulling back the blanket and helping Rong Yan sit up properly, Young Master Jiang said coldly.

“Eat something first. I’ll deal with you when we get home.”

Rong Yan turned her face away, showing no intention of eating.

She truly had no appetite.

“Want me to feed you?”

Rong Yan shuddered. She knew Jiang Yuhan’s method of feeding people was… rather unique.

She quickly took the congee and spoon from the man’s hands and obediently began to eat.

Returning to Jiang Court, it happened to be dinner time again.

Under Jiang Yuhan’s “supervision,” Rong Yan was forced to drink another bowl of congee before she was allowed to return to her room.

After taking a hot bath, she lay down on the bed but couldn’t feel sleepy at all.

She was still wide awake by the time Jiang Yuhan came back to the room.

By then, however, she had already thought things through.

Whether Jiang Yuhan wanted this child didn’t matter at all.

What mattered was that she wanted this child—but she didn’t want to keep being a stand-in, and she certainly didn’t want to bear a child for a man who didn’t love her.

So Rong Yan made up her mind: once her body was no longer so weak, she would bring up the divorce with Jiang Yuhan again.

If Jiang Yuhan refused to agree, she would quietly leave first and have the child on her own.

Setting the soup on the table, Jiang Yuhan looked down at her from his full height and said two words in a forceful tone.

“Eat it.”

Sitting up from the bed, Rong Yan glanced at the bowl of fish maw and pork rib soup. She deeply regretted not closing her eyes and pretending to be asleep.

Never mind eating it—just smelling it made her feel nauseous.

With a look of understanding, Rong Yan said, “I eat slowly. You can go take your shower first.”

She was counting on Jiang Yuhan going to shower so she could put the soup back in the kitchen, but the man replied to her bluntly.

“I’ll watch you eat.”

The moment she merely lifted the bowl of soup to smell it, Rong Yan began to feel queasy.

But she didn’t dare show it at all. Pinching her nose, she downed the soup in one go.

Having watched her finish the soup with his own eyes, Jiang Yuhan went to the bathroom. Rong Yan darted to the next room at lightning speed and practically threw up everything.

Not daring to linger, she rinsed her mouth, tidied up the mess, and hurried back to the bedroom to lie down.

With her eyes closed, Rong Yan was acutely aware of Jiang Yuhan lying down beside her.

Half an hour passed, and she still hadn’t fallen asleep. Jiang Yuhan hadn’t touched her.

It was she herself who recalled that over the year of sharing a bed with Jiang Yuhan, she had developed the habit of falling asleep in his arms.

It really was a terrible habit, but she feared that if she didn’t fall asleep soon, she’d drop dead.

So Rong Yan proactively moved closer, her arm wrapping around the man’s waist.

“Wanting it?”
