“Finally…”
“Yes.”
“We can still go back if you don’t want to…”
“How many times have you said that? Stop it now.”
“But…”
“You’re coming with me, right? But honestly, I’m not actually sure why.”
I, Dahlia, who had healed all her wounds in Estoria and had completed her education as a respectable noble lady in a decent environment with the help of decent teachers, am now sixteen years old.
As a rule, daughters of royalty and nobility must attend school from the age of 16 to 18. Then, members of the royal family of Estoria will have to study abroad as an exchange student as well. The same goes with the other side.
If things go in order, members of the royal family of Estoria will have to study in Woodria.
Woodria is also my homeland. Although His Majesty and Curtis were reluctant to let me go, I was also concerned about what happened to my family members back there in Woodria. I felt like I was running away if I continued to stay here. I thought that it was now time to end this, so I agreed to study abroad.
Then, for some reason, Curtis, who should already be taking care of most of the official duties for His Majesty, decided to come with me. Moreover, His Majesty even agreed. All of Curtis’ work during that time will be taken care of by His Majesty and his aides.
Before I knew it, everything was ready. This story is hosted at g.com.
After the decision to study abroad was made, this conversation has already been repeated tens of thousands of times. When I looked at Curtis, who still kind of looked dissatisfied, his mouth twitched. He made a sulky face like a child.
“We can’t let you go alone. You’re very important to us, and to Estoria.”
At first, he said he would take at least thirty knights as guards. But if we do that, Estoria would seem like they don’t trust Woodria. I’m sure His Majesty and Curtis are smart enough to know what repercussions that action might give.
Of course, I managed to persuade them to reduce the number of guards to ten by telling them that I would bring my ladies-in-waiting.
Bridgette and Garusia helped me to persuade them. Every year, His Majesty and Curtis became more overprotective.
“Be careful, but you don’t need to worry too much either since you won’t be alone. Always take the ten knights with you.”
The knights were chosen to be close in age to mine. Nevertheless, they were still quite capable.
Some of the knights will attend the school with me while the other two were officially allowed to guard me.
“Alright.”
He buried his face on my shoulder. I chuckled and hugged him back. It’s not that I don’t understand how Curtis and the others feel. I was in such bad shape when I first came here. They didn’t want me to go.
I actually still have a scar on my back.
“I’m sorry for making you worry.”
“You’re saying sorry, but you’ll still leave, right?”
Curtis rubbed his head against my shoulder. I can’t believe I’m seeing this kind gesture from him when he’s always so strict. He’s so cute, and I’m the only one who knows this.
“I’ve been happy ever since I came here. But somewhere in my heart, I’ve always been concerned about them. If I stay like this, I’ll only continue to worry. I don’t want that.”
“Haaa.” Curtis let out a deep sigh. Curtis looked up and stared straight into my eyes.
“I don’t like that either. I don’t like the idea of anyone but me living in your heart. I understand. Anyway, I’ve already agreed, I’m also coming with you. I won’t say anything else. Do what you want.”
“Thank you, Curtis.”
