Some readers feel my dungeon arc is moving too fast.

Let me explain: this is an interlude.

It is just to demonstrate the ability to traverse worlds, and it will end in five or six chapters.Full novel: Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

— — When the Ratmen began their charge, the scene was no different from an avalanche.

When the black fur mixed with white blades rolled forward, those Ratmen could not decide when to stop, or if they could stop.

They were either killed by the enemy in front, or by the companions behind, or perhaps, there was that tiny, tiny possibility that all rats hoped for—that they could kill the enemy in front.

Then they would continue charging with the horde, either to be killed by the enemy in front, or by their companions behind, or…

Repeating like this.

Felix held his magic sword named Karag-Hul, standing among the fully armed mercenaries.

Felix managed to run back to the tavern where the mercenaries were stationed and warned his companions of the Ratmen’s arrival.

Everyone drew their weapons and rushed into the street, blades gleaming in the firelight.

The Ratmen’s evil flames had not reached here yet, but Felix could see the color of the fire on the horizon.

But when he saw his friend, the axe-wielding Dwarf Gotrek, he could not help but feel a sense of relief.

Gotrek was a Dwarf Slayer.

Dwarf Slayers are the strangest and deadliest of all Dwarf warriors.

They carry a heavy burden—perhaps an irredeemable sin, a deep-seated hatred, or simply some personal stress that their stubborn heads cannot alleviate.

In any case, these burdens drive a small group of Dwarves onto a bitter journey that destroys both themselves and their enemies.

All Dwarf Slayers believe that this journey will end in a glorious death.

“It seems you found our dirty little friends, manling.” Gotrek’s eyes sparkled with his usual madness for battle.

“Yes.” Felix panted, trying to steady his breathing before the battle began.

“Then let us slaughter them!” The horde of Ratmen rushed from the end of the cobblestone street and collided with the mercenaries.

— — “Run faster!” Mia shouted with all her might.

The surviving crowd had reached the end, and Mia could even see the teeth of the Ratmen chasing behind them.

She jumped down from the high ground where she stood.

The young girl pursed her lips, breathing calmly and orderly through her nose.

She was afraid, of course, her heart pounding.

But she wanted even more to do a good deed that would be remembered by countless people, even if it was in another world.

The last civilian brushed past her.

That Soldier could not help but look back at her, seeing a petite girl standing between death and life.

Mia had no intention of staying long.

She could run as fast as these civilians could, but she would be the last one, and she had to create distance between the Ratmen and the civilians.

A Ratman pounced on her.

The girl let out a shout, and the golden sword in her right hand neatly decapitated that Clanrat.

A clear understanding of one’s own strength brings great confidence.

Facing the Ratmen baring their blades at her, and the seemingly endless tide of rats behind them, Mia took a step back.

She cast a Prayer.

“Wrath of Gold!” Boom— A golden shockwave erupted with overwhelming power, crashing into the Ratmen and sending them flying.

Although, it would be more effective to cast this Prayer when she was completely surrounded by Ratmen.

But Mia would not take that risk.

The dark mass of Ratmen was like ocean waves crashing against a hard rock; the spray shattered, and water droplets splashed.

Those charging Ratmen were all sent flying backward.

The immense force crushed their internal organs, blood sprayed from their seven orifices, and then these flying Ratmen collided with the ones behind, knocking down even more.

The Clanrats, who were already being pushed forward by the Stormvermin and were in a dense formation, completely lost their balance because their comrades in front had fallen.

After releasing Wrath of Gold, Mia followed the fleeing crowd.

More and more Ratmen were tripped and rolled into a ball.

But those Clanrats with the sharp halberds of the Stormvermin pressing against their backs were unwilling to stop.

The Ratmen chattered and shoved each other.

Those in the back had no idea what was happening in front.

The filthy rats would only ever see the immediate gains; they only knew now that if they did not move forward, they would be killed by the rear guard.

But those knocked down by Mia could not stand up before the claws of their own kind stepped on them.

They were trampled at the very bottom, scratching wildly at their peers.

And the Ratmen, unable to clear the obstacles quickly, naturally began stabbing each other with their knives.

Pathetic creatures.

Mia looked at them, feeling nauseated.

Fireball!
