Qin Hao didn’t take this matter to heart as he strolled leisurely toward the classroom.
There was just one lesson this morning, and after that he would be free.
However, before Qin Hao could even reach the classroom, a phone call came through.
“Old man, what do you want?” Qin Hao was somewhat surprised, as the caller was his father.
But his father rarely called him proactively, and something about this world didn’t seem quite right—it should have been evening.
“I have a friend who has run into a bit of trouble and asked for my help,” came a steady, male voice from the other end, carrying a hint of laughter and ease.
“Oh, then go ahead and help them, I’ve got my own things to do, goodbye.” Qin Hao finished and immediately hung up the phone.
He understood his father very well; the man was a classic example of someone who’d throw his child under the bus.
There had to be a catch since his father was calling him now.
So Qin Hao preemptively refused, reasoning that even if he reluctantly agreed later, he would be able to negotiate better terms for himself.
The phone quickly rang again.
Qin Hao continued, “What else do you want?
Did you realize I’m running low on living expenses and decide to send ten thousand my way?”
There was a moment of choking silence on the other end, followed by his father’s speechless voice: “I only make three thousand a month, how the hell am I supposed to send you ten thousand?
You have to help me with this.”
Qin Hao curled his lip, knowing all too well this would be the case.
As for the old man being out of money, Qin Hao didn’t believe it for a second; he was fully aware of the shady deals his father was involved in, and he wasn’t as innocent as he appeared on the surface.
“Spit it out, what is it?
Let’s get one thing straight—I’m not selling myself.” Qin Hao said with a sneer, always free from any inhibition when talking to his father, hence he had no fear.
Qin Weitang couldn’t help but roll his eyes, feeling a sense of failure in raising his son.
“It’s an old friend of mine.
I want you to protect his granddaughter, not for long, just two months,” Qin Weitang explained.
“No way, I don’t have the time.
I’ve found a girl for myself, and I’m afraid she’ll get jealous,” Qin Hao rejected outright without leaving any room for discussion.
“This friend saved our lives when your mother and I left Capital City.” Qin Weitang’s voice grew somber.
Qin Hao was taken aback.
Of course, he knew about his father’s past and the great debt they owed.
The person hadn’t just saved Qin Weitang and his wife but also Qin Hao himself, who had been in his mother’s womb at the time.
“I understand, give me the address,” Qin Hao’s voice immediately became serious.
This was a huge debt of gratitude.
The person had saved his whole family, and Qin Hao would do it even if it meant protecting for twenty years, not just two months.
“To repay kindness” were four words that Qin Hao definitely knew.
Moreover, when it came to such a significant debt of gratitude, there really was no means of repayment that would ever be considered excessive.
“It’s at your school, at Azure Apartment.”
Qin Weitang immediately provided the address, knowing deep down that Qin Hao would agree.
“By the way, if it’s possible, I wouldn’t mind if you found a few more daughters-in-law for me and your mother.
Our family is relatively wealthy, and we could certainly support them,” Qin Weitang added at the end, giving Qin Hao the impression that the old man was probably aware of everything he had done.
“Got it.”
Qin Hao said before hanging up the phone.
Azure Apartment, Qin Hao inquired and only then found out what Baihai University’s Azure Apartment represented.
An apartment there was a villa, home only to extremely powerful students.
Such apartments, there are only seven of them throughout the entire school.
But Qin Hao wasn’t surprised, the person who was able to save his father’s life back then naturally couldn’t be just anybody.
It was quite normal for their descendants to live in Azure Apartment.
Of course, some people felt indignant, thinking it was unfair, why should some people get to live in such apartments.
In reality, there has never been true fairness in this world; only those with greater power can talk about fairness with others.
Qin Hao didn’t go to class, he needed to meet the other party.
When Qin Hao knocked on the door of Azure Apartment and saw the person inside, he couldn’t help but widen his eyes in shock.
Foes on a narrow road, that was the only thought in Qin Hao’s mind.
However, it didn’t take long for him to feel like he had been schemed against, this situation was definitely not a coincidence.
“What are you doing here?” Lin Luyao glared with wide eyes, furiously asking.
Thinking about what Qin Hao had said about her made her so angry she could hardly contain herself.
If it weren’t for knowing from her grandfather that Qin Hao was skilled in martial arts, she definitely would have taken action.
“Is Azure Apartment occupied by only you?” Qin Hao asked, still holding onto a sliver of hope.
“Of course it is, what’s it to you?” Lin Luyao said arrogantly.
She glared fiercely at Qin Hao, her chest heaving with anger.
Qin Hao held his forehead, looking like he had a headache.
He really wanted to call his father and tell him he was done with this.
But recalling his father’s words, Qin Hao ultimately resisted the urge.
Qin Weitang might talk nonsense about other things, but not about this one.
To their family, the benefactor’s favor was greater than heaven, and they would never joke about it lightly.
“I have been sent by your family to protect you, so starting from today, I will also be moving into Azure Apartment, not just me, but my wife as well,” Qin Hao stated seriously, which completely dumbfounded Lin Luyao.
She doubted she had heard correctly, but soon enough, Lin Luyao realized this was no lie.
Recalling what her grandfather had mentioned, and considering the recent events, Lin Luyao knew she had been played.
“I don’t agree,” she persisted.
Qin Hao sighed, looking forlorn, “Honestly, I wish I could disagree as well, but there’s no choice, the commitment has been made.
To have to protect you, I seriously feel like dying.”
Lin Luyao’s eyes blazed with fire as she glared at Qin Hao, snapping angrily, “Am I really that bad?”
“Yes.”
Qin Hao nodded, admitting it without hesitation.
Lin Luyao almost spat blood in frustration; this man was utterly unapologetic.
“You might not like it but there’s no helping it; it’s decided, and tonight, my wife and I will move in,” Qin Hao continued.
“Your wife is Xia Mengchan?” Lin Luyao felt a little nervous; she worried that her plans against Qin Hao might be exposed.
Although she didn’t think much of it, it could negatively affect Xia Mengchan.
Qin Hao nodded, a proud expression on his face as he smiled, “That’s right, so when I say you’re ugly, compared to my wife, you’re just an ugly duckling.”
“I am indeed not as pretty as she is.”
Against Qin Hao’s expectations, he thought Lin Luyao would argue back or even insult him, but instead, she seriously nodded her head, agreeing with Qin Hao’s opinion, which gave Qin Hao a rather strange feeling.
