Di Kun sat in the mech, watching Su Yue operate it, his eyes flickering with surprise.

Without pausing, he raised the concave compartment again and continued harvesting the oranges from the trees.

Thanks to their efficient work, the oranges on the tree were all picked in less than half an hour.Full novel: Exiled to a Desolate Planet I Farm and Raise Children in the Interstellar World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Di Kun returned to the ground, stored Zhan Feng in spatial storage, and walked over to Su Yue.

“There’s still some time. Maybe there are more orange trees or sugarcane nearby. Shall we go look for them?”

Su Yue felt tempted.

Her spatial storage was as big as a football field, capable of holding massive amounts of goods.

With Di Kun willing to help pick fruits, she naturally wanted to take advantage and have him gather more.

After all, the wild wasn’t entirely safe.

Even near the safe zone, there was always a chance of encountering star beasts.

Just like yesterday, she and her big brother had nearly been trampled by one.

Given her past experience in the apocalypse and her current pregnancy, she wanted to stockpile as much fruit as possible.

After all, the fruit could be juiced and sold!

She never expected Di Kun to stay by her side forever, so while he was helping, she was more than happy to let him assist.

She gladly agreed.

Di Kun mounted his hover motorcycle, patted the seat behind him, and gestured for Su Yue to get on.

Su Yue stepped forward, and they set off at a slow pace, scanning for fruit trees.

With a hover motorcycle, spotting trees wasn’t too hard.

They could hover above the wild grass, seeing over it easily, and quickly spot trees taller than the grass.

Soon, they discovered their next fruit tree: an apple tree.

The tree was heavy with giant apples, making Su Yue’s eyes light up.

“Can these be eaten?” Di Kun asked, stopping the hover motorcycle near a large apple that was already turning red.

“Yes!” Su Yue replied.

“However, they aren’t fully ripe yet. We can come back in a few days to harvest them,” she added.

The barren planet was indeed miraculous—fruits that normally ripened in different seasons could all grow at the same time.

Not just fruit trees—other crops were the same.

“I’ll mark this spot. In five days, we’ll come back,” Su Yue said, marking the location on her holographic display with some simple notes.

Di Kun eyed the apple in front of him.

“This one looks ripe enough.”

Su Yue’s heart skipped a beat.

“Pick it, then. I’ll make you some apple porridge at home,” she said.

“Okay!” Di Kun agreed cheerfully.

He plucked the apple and handed it to Su Yue.

Holding the large apple, she felt overjoyed, but only for a moment—she stored it in spatial storage.

“Don’t waste time. Let’s keep looking,” she said.

“Got it,” Di Kun replied, and they moved on.

Over the next stretch, they found pear trees, plum trees, peach trees, mango trees, lychee trees, and more.

Some weren’t ready for harvest; others were ripe but not ideal for juicing.

Still, Su Yue marked the location of every fruit tree.

Even if the fruit couldn’t be juiced, they could eat it themselves.

After all, storing it in spatial storage prevented spoilage.

By 10:30, after diligent searching, they discovered three fully ripe orange trees growing together.

Di Kun got to work.

He entered the mech and happily began picking oranges.

“Our harvest today is pretty good. Yue Yue, can we have meat for lunch?” Di Kun asked suddenly.

With Zhan Feng nearby, their conversation carried easily across the field.

Su Yue realized she felt completely safe with Di Kun around.

She paused, considering feasibility.

Since he was helping her so much, she felt she should reward him a little.

Also, her big brother had been craving meat too.

“That elk from yesterday will do. But it’s too large; the kitchen at home can’t accommodate it,” Su Yue said.

“It’s too bulky and hard to cut,” she added.

Di Kun’s eyes brightened.

“Easy! Bring out the elk, and I’ll use the mech to cut it. Pieces of 20–30 pounds each should be fine. Too small is inconvenient.”

“Oh, and if elk works, we can do other meats too. Every time we encounter star beasts, I can butcher and prep them for storage,” he continued.

“That way, whenever we want meat, you can just retrieve it for cooking,” he said, already imagining tasting her cooking.

Naturally, meat was rarer than natural vegetables, and even he didn’t get to eat it often.

Su Yue was tempted.

Star beast meat couldn’t be sold easily, but they could eat it themselves!

Unlike fruits unsuitable for juicing, meat was a long-term food source.

If she could stock dozens, even hundreds of tons of meat in spatial storage, she’d never need to buy meat again.

Even if Di Kun weren’t around, the three of them would never go hungry.

“If we encounter any, we should hunt some,” she said.

“Sure… if possible, hunt a pig-beast for me too,” she added.

“There’s little pork available in Wubian City’s supermarkets. Also, I want to render some lard,” she explained.

“Currently, our cooking oil is plant-based. Pork fat makes stir-frying taste much better.”

Di Kun’s eyes sparkled.

“Got it!”

Excited about hunting star beasts, he even increased the mech’s speed while picking oranges.

The three orange trees were quickly harvested.

Di Kun asked Su Yue to bring out the elk from before.

She did as told and stepped back to watch from a distance.

Once she was far enough, Di Kun transformed the mech—Zhan Feng returned to its humanoid form.

Wielding two long swords with glowing blades, he began cutting the elk meat.

The sword blades were so sharp, slicing through the meat like butter, leaving neat chunks. Su Yue couldn’t help but admire the process.

The mech was incredibly cool!

She wished she had one and the ability to pilot it herself.

Of course, that was just a thought.

A dual S-class mech like this wasn’t available for purchase, and even if it were, it would cost billions of star coins.

Even if she could afford it, she didn’t have the mental strength to operate it—her former self had only scored an E in the psychic power test two years ago.

After cutting the meat, Di Kun stored the mech.

Su Yue used her mental power to select all the meat and store it in spatial storage.

“Ten minutes to noon—let’s call it a day. Time to go back and cook lunch,” she said, ready to prepare a proper meat dish for everyone.
