Di Kun was about to respond when his gaze suddenly fixed on something.
“Wait—” he said, then released Zhan Feng.
“Follow me.” To Su Yue’s surprise, he pulled her toward the mech hangar.
Some mechs could carry passengers in addition to their pilots; some even allowed multiple operators.
Su Yue was thrilled to be allowed inside Zhan Feng and didn’t resist.
Soon, she was inside the mech, utterly amazed by its interior structure.
Mechs in the interstellar era represented the pinnacle of high technology.
“You just watch from here. There should be a star beast ahead. I’ll kill it and cut the meat for storage,” Di Kun said.
“Okay,” Su Yue replied, excited.
Di Kun equipped her with protective gear, and the mech set off.
Not far ahead, a star beast appeared on the large display screen.
It resembled a giant chicken, about the size of an ostrich. Startled by the mech’s noise, it tried to flee.
Di Kun raised the mech’s mechanical arm, and a small cannon appeared beneath it.
The display automatically calibrated, and with a simple press of a virtual switch, a small shell fired.
Su Yue couldn’t help but gasp.
The chicken was hit precisely—the shell destroyed its head instantly.
“This… is too easy!” she exclaimed.
“The head doesn’t have much meat; this method shouldn’t affect much,” Di Kun said with a grin.
“Uh… okay,” Su Yue stammered.
“I’ll cut it up now,” he added, driving the mech forward.
Su Yue finally regained her composure.
“Be careful not to cut the innards. Those can be cleaned and cooked,” she reminded.
With a household robot at home, cleaning the meat wouldn’t be difficult.
Di Kun nodded.
Operating the mech, he quickly butchered the chicken, and Su Yue stored it in her spatial storage.
They continued their hunt to stockpile meat.
Di Kun ended up hunting two pig-beasts for her, along with another chicken, two ducks, and a goose along the way.
Just as Su Yue was caught up in the excitement, her brother Su Yi called.
She noticed it was already 12:30.
“Big brother, have some oranges to tide you over. We’ll be back soon,” she said, feeling a bit hungry herself.
Rubbing her stomach, Su Yue decided to call it a day for now.
With Di Kun not leaving anytime soon, they would have plenty of time to gather more supplies later.
“Let’s go back first,” she said.
“Okay,” Di Kun replied, smiling, and piloted the mech back.
They had traveled quite a distance from the safe zone to hunt the pig-beasts.
At this point, riding the mech was safer, and it was faster than a hover motorcycle.
Soon, they returned to the relative safety of the zone.
Di Kun stored the mech in his mech necklace and rode the hover motorcycle with Su Yue back home.
At the villa, Su Yi wasn’t there yet.
From the sounds coming from the basement, they realized he was still juicing fruit.
“Take some bread to Big Brother to tide him over,” Su Yue said.
“I’ll quickly prepare something to eat, let’s have lunch first,” she added, handing four pieces of bread to Di Kun.
“You?” he asked, not taking them immediately.
“I still have some,” Su Yue said, producing two more pieces.
Only then did Di Kun take the bread.
“I’ll go now. Later, the household robot can come help you,” he said.
“Okay,” Su Yue replied, stepping into the kitchen.
Time was tight, so she decided to make noodles.
Soon, the robot arrived, easing her workload considerably.
She freed her hands to fry eggs—these weren’t simple fried eggs, as the eggs were enormous; one was enough for all three of them.
Soon, a large pot of steaming egg noodles was ready.
She had the robot carry the noodles and condiments upstairs and personally called Di Kun and Su Yi to eat.
Upon arriving, Su Yue noticed that the sunroom was already filled with packaged juice.
All twenty boxes she had stored earlier were now full, with more juice stacked on tables.
Her brother had really been busy…
“Yue Yue—” the two men looked up simultaneously when they saw her.
Su Yue smiled.
“Lunch is ready. Come eat first,” she said, while storing the juice back into spatial storage.
She noted that she’d need more boxes for the afternoon.
The two men didn’t rush; they tidied up the mess first.
Once the sunroom was organized, the three went upstairs to eat.
The noodles were perfectly chewy, the eggs fragrant, and they enjoyed the meal thoroughly.
Su Yue thought that with more condiments, it could taste even better.
Unfortunately, most interstellar people preferred Western cuisine, making Chinese seasonings expensive and incomplete.
“Mmm—so addictive—Yue Yue, these noodles—really delicious!” Su Yi quickly polished off over half the bowl.
Di Kun didn’t speak much but ate steadily.
He wasn’t particularly fond of noodles, yet these were some of the best he’d ever eaten.
“You’ve all worked hard today. Eat as much as you like. If it’s not enough, I’ll make more!” Su Yue said.
She realized she might need to visit the supermarket later for more rice and flour.
Natural ingredients were expensive, and she hadn’t yet found wild rice or wheat in the wilderness.
Perhaps… she could try searching for some in the future.
Su Yi’s eyes nearly sparkled.
“More?!” he asked, looking at Su Yue with delight.
“Of course!” she replied with a smile.
After finishing, she went back to the kitchen with the robot.
Ten minutes later, another large pot of noodles was ready.
Su Yi and Di Kun finally ate to their heart’s content.
The robot handled the dishes, and Su Yue prepared to take the two men to the commercial street to sell juice.
“You’ve been busy all morning. You and Big Brother should rest at home. I’ll handle selling the juice,” Di Kun said.
Just earlier, Tao Fu had messaged him, arranging a spot at the commercial street to showcase the mech while selling juice.
If all went well, he could sell quite a bit beyond the preordered amounts that afternoon.
