Aurelie’s tiny body was easily lifted by Vincent.
She was shocked and tried to struggle, but Vincent’s grip was very strong, and of course, being twice, maybe even three times her size, Aurelie was helpless.
Vincent hated being reminded of his obligation to take over the Magical Keagan company, as he always felt it was his grandfather’s way of tying him down.
Not only that, Vincent also felt that this obligation should have been borne by his father before being passed on to him.
But the man avoided it, choosing to leave, claiming he was working for the state.
And the perfume company his mother left him was his personal legacy and should not be interfered with by anyone, for any reason, let alone merged with the Magical Keagan company.
The company was the only thing Vincent had left to remember his mother, whom he never knew at all because he was too young when she died.
Aurelie tried to pry Vincent’s hands away with both of hers.
Her pale face quickly turned bright red, and she gasped for air from lack of oxygen.
She was not afraid of death.
She knew Vincent wouldn’t be so cruel as to kill her, but she still felt uneasy, worried that he would regret treating her like this.
“I didn’t mean anything,” Aurelie said, trying to explain through her labored breathing.
“Your grandfather is old and wants to rest.
He asked me to persuade you to take over the company with me.
If you don’t want to, we can manage your mother’s inherited perfume company together and consider a possible merger with your family company.”
Vincent growled angrily.
“My grandfather is senile.
How could he ask you to take over the company, even with me?
You’re just a blind woman.
Aren’t you afraid of losing your life?”
“I didnt–”
“Don’t ever talk about that again, Aurelie!
I might forget myself next time and hurt you!”
“He loves you, Alpha Vincent.
He’s willing to give you the family company and merge it with your mother’s, just so you’ll take over,” Aurelie said.
“Have pity on him.
He’s exhausted and wants to enjoy his old age in peace.”
“You talk too much for someone who just joined this family,” Vincent hissed.
After saying that, Vincent put Aurelie down and left the master bedroom without a word, slamming the door behind him.
Aurelie sat on the bed, shocked.
She touched her neck, feeling Vincent’s grip still there.
Suddenly, her heart felt empty, as if something had been forcibly ripped from her, but she didn’t know what.
Vincent never returned to the White Mansion for days after that.
Aurelie accidentally overheard a conversation among the servants.
Some workers at the White Mansion brought back information that Vincent was at the bar with his friends every day.
He also started causing trouble again in his social life, even destroying a car belonging to a businessman’s son because he was bothering her.
Grandpa Aston was the chairman of the international perfumer’s association, so he traveled frequently.
He left the day after Vincent left the White Mansion, saying that he would probably be abroad for a long time this time.
Before leaving, Grandpa Aston asked all the maids and workers to take good care of and serve Aurelie.
Mira took the opportunity to spread rumors among the maids and workers at the White Mansion.
“That day I heard Mr.
Vincent arguing with his wife in their bedroom.
Mr.
Vincent was so loud, yelling at Ms.
Aurelie, that I could hear him from the living room,” Mira said smugly.
“No wonder Mr.
Vincent left that night and hasn’t returned to this day,” Isa said.
“Poor Ms.
Aurelie.
She’s left all alone, especially now that Grandpa Aston is gone too.”
“Tsk!
It’s her own fault, daring to defy Mr.
Vincent.
I’m sure they’ll divorce soon,” Mira said confidently.
“I was still hoping Ms.
Carrin would be the matriarch of this family.
How could a blind girl like Ms.
Aurelie possibly marry Mr.
Vincent?” a maid said irritably.
“She can’t even cook without burning down the kitchen because her eyesight is impaired.”
“Right!
I think we should kick her out of this family so Ms.
Carrin can take her place.
She’s not worthy of ruling us.”
“We can tease her while Grandpa Aston isn’t around.
Maybe she’ll eventually get fed up and leave on her own.”
The maids and workers added their own opinions.
Mira was so excited, and with her encouragement and incitement, the maids banded together and started devising various ways to bully Aurelie.
“I’ll put a grasshopper in her rice bowl,” said the maid who usually sets the table.
“Great!” Mira said.
“I’ll take a video of her eating it.
It’ll look great, humbling herself to eat an insect!”
That afternoon, Aurelie sat at the dining table alone.
She picked up a crispy fried grasshopper with her chopsticks and slowly put it into her mouth.
The maids watched behind her and saw Aurelie slowly eating the fried grasshopper.
Mira immediately took a photo of Aurelie eating the grasshopper and sent it to Carrin.
“Ms.
Carrin, look at that!
That blind girl even eats insects!
Disgusting!
How could Mr.
Vincent kissed her?” Mira wrote under the photo.
Carrin, who was working as the director of finance at the Magical Keagan company, opened her phone and looked at the photo.
She then smiled sarcastically and shook her head.
Indeed, once disgusting, always disgusting.
Aurelie was just a lowly girl in Carrin’s eyes.
After Aurelie finished eating one, she thought the grasshoppers were fragrant, crunchy, and delicious.
She was used to eating fried grasshoppers.
After all, they were her and her siblings’ favorite appetizer at the orphanage.
“Is there anything else, Madam Mira?
What is this?
It’s delicious,” Aurelie asked Mira.
Mira immediately put away her phone and ran to the dining table.
“Ms.
Aurelie, this is just ordinary fried food.
If you like it, I’ll prepare it for you next time.”
“I want to eat now.
Could you please go and prepare it for me?” Aurelie asked.
Mira gave her a disgusted look, then smiled and said nonchalantly, “Okay, I’ll send someone to prepare it right away.”
“Madam Mira, may I borrow your phone for a moment?
I can’t reach my husband on my phone,” Aurelie said.
Mira thought to herself with a sneer.
Mr.
Vincent doesn’t want to talk to you at all; there’s no point in calling him.
Mira unlocked her phone and handed it to Aurelie with a pout.
“Madam Mira, can you help me see if my fritters are ready?” Aurelie asked firmly.
“I want to eat them.”
Mira wanted to argue, but ultimately, she went to the kitchen.
Aurelie’s slender, small hands quickly tapped a few times on Mira’s phone.
Even though she was blind, Aurelie could operate the phone using a special code intended only for the visually impaired.
When Mira returned to the dining room, Aurelie returned the phone with a gloomy face.
“This is your phone, Madam Mira.
Unfortunately, I still can’t reach my husband,” Aurelie said.
She looked desperate.
Seeing that her phone was off, Mira sneered and mocked Aurelie in her heart, that Vincent really didn’t want to talk to her.
