Carrin had been crying since she saw the news of Vincent and Aurelie’s romance circulating online.
She was sad and hurt because her dream of marrying Vincent had been dashed.
She had prepared herself for years to become Vincent’s wife, and had high hopes because it seemed everyone was rooting for her to be with him.
But Aurelie’s sudden arrival easily and cruelly pushed her aside.
Suddenly, Vincent married a stranger who was completely out of his league.
It was incredibly annoying and inappropriate.
Unfortunately, Grandpa Aston actually took a liking to the blind, wolf-like girl, constantly praising her, further depressing Carrin’s feelings.
Only Mira still believed that the position with Vincent’s wife would be hers, somehow.
Carrin was in deep pain.
However, as the acknowledged daughter of the Keagan family, even though she was adopted, she didn’t want to make a shameful mistake that would make her a laughingstock.
She would have to resort to more cunning means to straighten her path to her dream of marrying Vincent and becoming the daughter-in-law of the Keagan family.
“If Aurelie really wants to wear a wedding ring and become the daughter-in-law of the Keagan family, then she must be willing to bear whatever risks the ring brings,” Carrin said coldly.
Carrin pursed her lips, a mysterious smile appearing on her cold, haughty face, before she stepped on the accelerator and sped out of the White Mansion.
“Vincent isn’t having dinner, Grandpa,” Aurelie said, late at night.
It was just her and Grandpa Aston at the dinner table.
“He has work to do that he can’t leave.”
“It’s okay, let him be busy,” Grandpa Aston said.
“I’m glad you’re joining me for dinner, because there are some things I need to tell you.”
Grandpa Aston had the servants serve dinner for him and Aurelie in his study and asked them to leave once all the dishes were set.
“Aurelie, you and Vincent are now husband and wife, so I hope you will have children soon.
Vincent will be the heir to the Keagan family, and it would be best if he had children,” Grandpa Aston said slowly.
Aurelie nearly choked on his words, but she managed to keep her composure.
Aurelie laughed politely.
“I’m still too young to have children, Grandpa.
Besides, we’re newly married and want to enjoy being a couple for a while longer.”
Grandpa Aston understood, and he felt guilty for being too pushy without considering Aurelie’s feelings.
“Hmm, I understand,” Grandpa Aston said.
“It’s okay if you don’t want children yet.
But there’s one more thing I want you to do.”
“What is it, Grandpa?” Aurelie asked cautiously.
“I want you to persuade Vincent to work for the Magical Keagan Company.
I’m getting old and it’s time to retire.
I want him to take over our family business.
He’s the only successor now.”
Aurelie thought about it for a moment.
It didn’t seem difficult.
“I’ll try, Grandpa.
I think I can persuade him, if the time is right,” Aurelie said.
Grandpa Aston was delighted.
He stroked Aurelie’s hair affectionately.
“I think I can count on you, honey,” Grandpa Aston said.
After the dinner was over, Aurelie went to the master bedroom on the second floor.
As she entered, the scent of tobacco and cinnamon greeted her.
Vincent was smoking on the balcony while talking on the phone.
Aurelie didn’t want to eavesdrop and decided to take a shower instead.
She went to the wardrobe and was stunned when her hand touched a row of hanging clothes.
She remembered that she had brought only a few clothes to the White Mansion, and now they were in the far corner, and the hangers were filled with brand-new clothes, made of the finest satin, linen, and silk.
Aurelie reached into another section of the closet and found several pairs of soft sleepwear and delicate underwear neatly stacked in orderly piles.
They all felt new, and with a single touch, Aurelie knew they were from renowned designers.
The quality of the materials and the styles were top-notch.
Aurelie wasn’t a fashionista, but she understood materials, cuts, and style combinations.
Her sense of touch could distinguish materials by their grain and softness.
She could also roughly tell what style the clothes she touched were like by the cut and lines.
Vincent entered the room and saw Aurelie standing, fumbling with clothes in the closet.
“Aurie, what are you doing?” Vincent asked, approaching and standing behind her.
Aurelie turned and pointed over her shoulder in the closet behind her.
“Alpha Vincent, did you prepare all these clothes for me?”
Vincent nodded.
“Of course.”
“But why?
I brought my own clothes,” Aurelie said quietly.
“Come on, Aurie, you’re Vincent Keagan’s wife now, and of course I have to prepare all these for you,” Vincent said in an exasperated tone, as if Aurelie’s question had annoyed him.
“What would people say if they found out I can’t make my wife look presentable in public?
It would be the laughing stock of the town.”
“Ah, okay, I understand,” Aurelie nodded, thinking that what Vincent said made sense.
He probably did it on impulse, just to save face for his family.
“Thank you so much.
These are so many, and they’re all beautiful.”
Vincent smirked and leaned closer to Aurelie.
“Vincent Keagan never chooses mediocre items.
They’re all limited editions from famous brands.”
Aurelie felt goosebumps rise as Vincent’s warm breath brushed against her neck.
She still wasn’t used to Vincent’s behavior like this.
Aurelie smiled, remembering Grandpa Aston’s request at dinner earlier and deciding now was a good time to talk to Vincent about it.
He sounded like he was in a good mood.
“Alpha Vincent,” Aurelie called softly.
“Hm?” Vincent replied.
He stroked Aurelie’s soft hair lightly.
“What’s wrong?”
“Do you want to work at Golden Magical with me tomorrow?
Grandpa said he wants you to try taking over the group,” Aurelie asked cautiously.
At that, Vincent’s demeanor changed immediately.
He removed his hand from Aurelie’s hair and stepped back.
“Did Grandpa tell you to persuade me?
I’m not going, Aurelie.
While I don’t mind your presence now, don’t bring up something like this in front of me again.
I might start to hate you,” Vincent said in a stiff, cold voice.
Aurelie felt her heartbeat slow down sharply.
She was surprised by Vincent’s strong reaction.
This was the first time Aurelie had felt such intense anger from the man in front of her.
She kept her voice steady and calm.
“Oh, okay then, I won’t talk about that anymore.
But, could you take me to visit the perfume company your mother inherited?
I’d like to visit it.”
Aurelie had actually given up hope of finding the secret recipe for Soul Caller perfume from Vincent.
He hadn’t mentioned perfume, the scent formula, or the company in the few days they’d been together, and Aurelie knew she likely wouldn’t hear about such things from Vincent, as if it were all taboo for him to talk about.
Aurelie couldn’t keep hoping for luck.
She had to change her strategy and plan to find the perfume formula on her own.
Hearing Aurelie’s words, Vincent’s gaze turned cold and dangerous.
The next second, Vincent suddenly reached out and grabbed Aurelie by the neck, like a wild beast that had lost its mind.
“You…
did you have an ulterior motive for marrying me?
Answer me or I’ll broke your neck!
