The heavy pot fell with a loud thud, thudded against the ground.

There wasn’t any blind woman lying at the entrance with her skull split open—just a flowerpot broken into fragments, dirt and ceramic pieces spread across the ground.

Aurelie’s keen senses had warned her of the falling pot, and when it actually fell, she could even hear Mira’s hand releasing it, and the strong wind blew over her, allowing her to easily avoid it.Full novel: Ex’s Regret: Sold Me to the Billionaire Alpha — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Aurelie smiled silently and steeled herself.

This is nothing, she told herself.

This is only the beginning.

She immediately knew that their shock wasn’t because the pot nearly hit Aurelie, but because Aurelie hadn’t even been scratched by the falling shards.

Mira nudged Carrin.

“Oh my gosh, Ms.

Aurelie, are you okay?” Carrin said, feigning panic.

“How did that pot fall?”

“It must have been the wind, Ms.

Carrin,” Mira said, her voice full of concern.

“Or whoever put the pot too far off the edge.”

“How reckless!” Carrin said angrily.

“That was very dangerous and could have hurt the people below.

If only Ms.

Aurelie could have avoided it.”

Mira sneered at Aurelie.

She was both annoyed and surprised that her plan had failed.

How could the blind girl have avoided it?

Carrin quickly approached Aurelie and helped her up and squat down, then patted her skirt.

“Forgive my servants, Ms.

Aurelie.

They worked very carelessly,” Carrin said.

“Come inside, don’t let another pot fall.”

Carrin led Aurelie into the hall.

“Damn, how lucky she is,” Mira muttered behind her.

Another servant had come in and understood what had happened.

“Why did you push that pot, Madam Mira?

That was very dangerous.

If the blind girl had been hurt, Mr.

Vincent would have gone berserk.”

“Shut up, Isa!

This was to protect Ms.

Carrin.

The blind girl was a danger to her!”

“But—”

“Shut up, or you’ll be transferred to cleaning the livestock pens!”

Aurelie’s hearing picked up all the whispered conversations as clearly as crickets on a still night.

She had long expected to face such hostility.

As a blind Omega without an inner wolf, she had experienced endless discrimination and injustice throughout her life.

Everyone considered her useless and a burden, embarrassing and stupid, so they belittled and mocked her behind her back, and even after she became blind, they did so in front of her.

The commotion caused by a falling pot disturbed Grandpa Aston, who was painting in his study.

Grandpa Aston came out of his study and walked down the hall.

He passed Carrin, who was leading Aurelie, and watched the blind girl and observe her silently for a long time.

“Grandpa,” Carrin greeted.

“This is Ms.

Aurelie.

A pot fell from the third floor and nearly hit her, but she managed to avoid it.

Ms.

Aurelie is—”

“I know, Carrin,” Grandpa Aston said, cutting her off.

“I know.”

This time Aurelie’s heart was beating twice as fast as usual.

She felt tense and uneasy.

She worried that Grandpa Aston would be disappointed in her, in her appearance and her flaws.
