“Aito!
Where’s the update?!
I want the newest chapter!” The moment Aito appeared inside the guild, cries demanding the next installment came from every direction.
By now, he was completely used to it.
“Yawn~ You should be bothering Big Brother Reedus.
He’s the one who’s always missing deadlines.” “Hehehehe…
Reedus is already locked in the deadline room.” “We’re not letting him out until he finishes this week’s pages!” “…Are you people demons?” Aito’s career of copying stories from another world had already lasted more than a year.
And the results were spectacular.
Naruto had become one of the hottest popular novels in the Kingdom of Fiore.
Its manga serialization was also thriving, merchandise had begun appearing, and its influence was still spreading.
The success of the series had brought Aito enormous wealth.
His savings had already reached tens of millions of Jewels.
At this point, he and the penniless masses of Fairy Tail practically belonged to different social classes.
Despite having joined the guild over a year ago, Aito had never completed a single job.
Yet somehow, he was living better than almost everyone else.
Nowadays, he mostly came to Fairy Tail to train Telepathy Magic—otherwise known as listening to gossip—and to play.
Oh, right.
He still had his job as a server.
Aito had absolutely no intention of quitting.
In fact, he intended to declare serving tables his official career.
‘When Sorcerer Magazine interviews me someday, I’ll introduce myself as an amateur Mage of Fairy Tail.’ ‘Writing novels is my side job.’ ‘My main profession is restaurant server.’ Just imagining the reporter’s expression already made Aito happy.
That alone would probably earn him plenty of Inspiration Points.
Aito didn’t possess particularly grand ambitions.
In this life, he simply wanted to enjoy himself.
As a proper Happy Superman, happiness literally made him stronger.
So naturally, he intended to live however made him happiest.
“Guys!
I just passed outside town and saw Master bringing back some kid who can breathe fire!” “Looks like we’re getting another newcomer!” An older kid raced around the guild without being able to keep his feet still.
He was Jet, who had joined Fairy Tail not long ago.
His magic was [High Speed].
Aito had learned that one too.
In the end, the skill disappeared and turned into 3,000 experience points for [Enhancement Magic].
It had been surprisingly useful.
Aito only needed a little over two thousand more experience before Enhancement Magic reached LV2.
“Another newcomer?” “Our guild really is getting bigger and bigger lately!” “Of course!
We’re the number-one Magic Guild in Fiore!” “Cheers!” Amid the noise, Makarov entered the guild with a rowdy-looking boy whose hair was a peculiar shade of pink.
“Everyone, quiet down!
I’ve got an announcement!” Makarov gestured toward the boy.
“This is Natsu, our newest guild member!” “Everyone make sure you look after him!” Makarov hadn’t even finished speaking before Natsu leaped onto a table.
He raised his head and blasted a stream of fire toward the ceiling.
“ROAR!” “Have any of you seen a dragon?!” “I’m looking for a dragon!
A Fire Dragon that breathes flames!” “…” Every eye in the guild immediately turned toward the troublesome newcomer.
Then everyone burst out laughing.
“Hahahaha!
Is this kid still dreaming?” “Dragons?
How could there still be dragons in this world?” “They went extinct ages ago!” “Kid, that fire-breathing trick was pretty good!
Do it again!” Natsu’s face immediately turned red.
“I’m not joking!” “I’m looking for Igneel!” “The strongest Fire Dragon!” He clenched his fists.
“He’s my father!
I was raised by a dragon, so how could dragons not exist?!” The guild fell silent again.
Everyone exchanged uncertain looks.
The kid didn’t exactly look smart enough to fabricate an elaborate lie.
Could he actually be telling the truth?
Were dragons really still alive somewhere in the world?
“Oi!
Fireball idiot!” Gray shouted from nearby.
“Get off the table!
Nobody here has seen your stupid dragon!” “Hah?!” Natsu pointed at him.
“Are you some kind of pervert?!
Why aren’t you wearing clothes?!” “Huh?!” Gray looked down.
“When did that happen?!” “And don’t insult Igneel!” Natsu launched himself off the table and punched Gray while the latter was still trying to put his pants back on.
The two crashed onto the floor and immediately started brawling.
The irresponsible adults instantly gathered around when they noticed free entertainment.
Someone even opened a betting pool.
Odds on Gray: 1.3.
“Come on, Gray!
Beat him up!” “New kid, don’t lose!” “Hit him!
Hit him!
Hit him!” “…” Aito glanced at Makarov, who stood beside him with an incredibly benevolent smile.
The old man was nearly the same height as him.
“Master, aren’t you going to stop them?” “It’s fine, it’s fine.” Makarov waved dismissively.
“Children should be energetic~” “You look pretty happy.” Aito narrowed his eyes.
“Is it because you picked up another talented kid?” “Oh?” Makarov glanced at him.
“You can already tell there’s something special about Natsu?” “There wasn’t a single unnecessary thought in his head when he spoke.” Aito watched the brawl.
“He’s the kind of straightforward idiot who says exactly what he means, so I assume everything he said was true.” “And the fire element around him is practically overflowing…” Aito paused.
“So dragons really exist in this world?” “Indeed.” Makarov nodded happily.
“Natsu is an inheritor of the Lost Magic known as Dragon Slayer Magic.” “It’s an extremely rare form of magic.” “If a dragon really taught it to him personally, that child has extraordinary potential.” Makarov was still grinning proudly when Natsu suddenly shouted from across the room.
“Does anyone have fire?!” “Give me some fire!” Macao, always eager to make trouble worse, casually tossed a ball of flame toward him.
Natsu threw back his head— And swallowed it whole.
“Hahaha!” “Power’s surging through me!” Natsu took a deep breath.
“Fire Dragon’s—” “ROAR!” He opened his mouth and blasted a huge ball of fire directly at Gray.
Gray immediately dropped flat.
Everyone watching the fight scattered.
Aito vanished with a Flash.
The fireball sailed past them all and exploded directly in front of Makarov.
BOOM!
Makarov’s face turned black.
Literally.
The entire crowd vanished in an instant.
Only Natsu remained standing there, staring blankly at the smoking Guild Master.
A second later, Makarov transformed into a ten-foot giant and grabbed Natsu by the back of his clothes.
“YOU IDIOT!” “NO USING MAGIC INSIDE THE GUILD!” “ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL SOMEONE, YOU DAMN BRAT?!” “S-Sorry…” Natsu looked thoroughly terrified.
Aito, who had teleported safely to the side, shook his head.
Makarov really wasn’t much better than the guild members he constantly complained about.
Still…
Aito hadn’t expected Natsu to literally eat fire.
‘Interesting.’ ‘I need to find some time to learn this Dragon Slayer Magic and see how it works.’ While Aito was busy enjoying the spectacle, trouble came looking for him instead.
“Aito, Aito~” “What magic are you going to teach me?” Cana suddenly wrapped him in a hug.
Aito had long since grown accustomed to things like this.
The girls in the guild all liked hugging him, and he was perfectly happy being treated like a little kid.
“Big Sis Cana, I think Card Magic works best when combined with two particular types of magic.” “What?
What?” “Jutsu Shiki from Script Magic…” “And Contract Summoning Magic.” “Huh~~?” Cana blinked.
“So Levy’s magic and Celestial Spirit Magic?” “Levy is learning Solid Script.” Aito corrected her.
“As for Contract Summoning Magic, it doesn’t necessarily have to be Celestial Spirit Magic.” “Huh?” Cana stared blankly at him.
“What does that mean?
I don’t get it.” “I’ll explain the contract-summoning side after I’ve researched it more.” “For now, you can start with Jutsu Shiki.” Aito tapped her arm.
“Script Magic is practically one of the foundations of all magic.
Learning it definitely won’t hurt you.” “Okay~” Cana smiled.
“I’ll listen to whatever Aito says!” By now, Aito had learned quite a lot about most forms of magic in this world.
Whenever anyone mentioned summoners, the first thing people thought of was a Celestial Spirit Mage.
Aito had spoken with several Celestial Spirit Mages before.
Unfortunately, the Celestial Spirits contracted to the people he’d met weren’t particularly powerful.
Still, he had gathered some basic information.
Celestial Spirits normally existed outside this world.
They wouldn’t truly die, and their strength after being summoned depended heavily on the Magic Power of the Mage summoning them.
And Cana’s greatest natural talent was precisely her enormous Magic Power.
She could train halfheartedly and still keep pace with Erza’s Magic Power growth.
So theoretically…
Celestial Spirit Magic should be one of the forms of magic best suited to Cana.
But Aito had another thought.
‘Summoning magic doesn’t necessarily have to involve Celestial Spirits…’ He had an idea.
He still wasn’t certain whether it could actually work.
To find out, he’d need to conduct much deeper research into Celestial Spirit Magic.
But before that…
