This world had eighty-eight constellations in its night sky, exactly the same as Earth.

Aito had found that rather surprising at first.

Then he remembered that transmigration itself was possible and stopped worrying about the details.Full novel: Fairy Tail: Is Magic Such an Inconvenient Thing? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Those eighty-eight constellations naturally corresponded to eighty-eight types of Celestial Spirits.

Among them, the twelve Zodiac constellations had twelve unique Gold Keys.

The remaining seventy-six constellations had Silver Keys, of which multiple copies could exist.

These Celestial Spirit Gate Keys connected their owners to Celestial Spirits residing in the Celestial Spirit World.

Together, they formed the system known as Celestial Spirit Magic.

Because each Zodiac Gold Key was unique, they were naturally quite rare.

The other seventy-six kinds of Silver Keys varied enormously in usefulness, so most weren’t particularly valuable.

Sometimes, they could simply be bought from magic shops.

Aito planned to try his luck at the stores around town.

So for the first time in quite a while, he accompanied Cana on a shopping trip.

Speaking of Magnolia Town, it was fairly famous within the Kingdom of Fiore.

And the reason was naturally Fairy Tail.

Unfortunately, Fairy Tail was both the reason Magnolia prospered and one of its biggest problems.

Anyone willing to settle here permanently generally had a strong enough heart to tolerate the guild’s constant nonsense.

Those who couldn’t…

Naturally moved somewhere else.

Despite Magnolia’s long history, its permanent population had only grown to a little over sixty thousand.

In Aito’s eyes, that was pitifully small.

He had actually considered helping develop Magnolia.

If the city prospered, Fairy Tail would benefit along with it.

Unfortunately, Aito currently lacked both the ability and a concrete plan.

Still…

He had plenty of time to think about it.

“Aito, Aito~” Cana looked him over.

“How about Big Sis buys you some new clothes?

You’ve grown quite a bit this year.” “Huh?” Aito glanced down at himself.

“Whatever you want.

I don’t really care much about clothes.” “Hehe~ Then I’ll choose everything for you!” “Leave it all to Big Sis!” “Okay.

Thanks, Big Sis Cana.” Aito actually had very little desire for material possessions.

He cared much more about emotional satisfaction.

And when it came to things he didn’t particularly value, he could be incredibly lazy.

Food only needed to be edible.

Clothes only needed to be wearable.

He knew Cooking existed on his Skill Panel, yet he was too lazy to cook.

Most of his clothes were still the same ones he’d bought shortly after arriving in Magnolia, constantly rotated in and out.

The one exception was his home.

Sleep quality directly affected his mood, so Aito took that very seriously.

Wherever he slept had to be comfortable.

Compared to the new clothes Cana bought him, Aito was happier about the fact that someone wanted to buy clothes for him at all.

‘The thought behind the gift matters more than the gift itself.’ That was how Aito saw it.

They wandered through the shopping district for several rounds and bought quite a few things.

Without Aito’s LV2 Spatial Magic allowing him to create a small pocket dimension, there would’ve been too much for the two of them to carry.

Eventually, Cana led him to the largest magic-item shop in Magnolia.

“Boss, boss!

Do you have any Celestial Spirit Gate Keys?” “Oh, Cana!” The shopkeeper immediately recognized her.

“Thinking about switching over to Celestial Spirit Magic?” “No, no.

My little brother wants one.” Cana immediately pulled Aito forward.

“Look!

This is my little brother, Aito.

Isn’t he adorable?” Cana was very familiar with the owner.

That wasn’t particularly surprising.

Because Card Magic belonged to the category of Holder Type Magic, magical cards were also a unique form of magical craftsmanship.

Their place in the magical economy was somewhat similar to Magic Scrolls.

Mages frequently bought and sold them.

In other words, Cana was basically something like a talisman crafter.

A major reason she’d originally chosen Card Magic was because magical cards could be sold for money.

After all, Cana was the kind of stubborn girl who didn’t even want to burden her own biological father.

There was no way she could comfortably live forever on support from the church.

Cana had been six when she joined Fairy Tail, the same age Aito had been.

Back then, she was too young to accept proper guild jobs.

So when deciding what magic to learn, one of her first considerations had been simple— How could she support herself as quickly as possible?

Cana had done quite well over the years.

Not only had she paid off what she owed, she frequently donated money back to the church.

She also bought food for the children at the orphanage.

Now she even had spare money to buy Aito new clothes.

Aito had pieced together these “little secrets” from things Cana casually mentioned during conversations.

She herself didn’t seem to think there had been anything special about her choices.

But Aito couldn’t help feeling bad for his big sister.

Card Magic simply didn’t deserve her level of talent.

‘Damn you, Gildarts!’ “We do have Celestial Spirit Gate Keys.” The shopkeeper smiled.

“And right now, we happen to have three kinds.” “Canis Minor, Lepus, and Pegasus.” “The first two are extremely popular pet-type Celestial Spirits.” “As for Pegasus, it’s a mount-type Celestial Spirit capable of flight.

These keys sell very quickly~” Aito immediately asked, “How much?” “The Canis Minor Key is twenty thousand Jewels.” “Lepus is fifty thousand.” “And Pegasus is two hundred thousand.” The shopkeeper smiled at Cana.

“Since you’re with Cana, I’ll give you a ten-percent discount.” Aito heard how cheap they were and waved his hand without hesitation.

“I’ll take all three!” “Thank you for your business~” On the way back to Fairy Tail, Aito walked beside Cana while reading the complimentary Celestial Spirit Contract Guide the shopkeeper had given him.

Technically, anywhere inside Magnolia was only a thought away for him.

His Teleportation Magic could even carry other people.

But Aito wasn’t going to use magic just to save a little time when he was enjoying a walk through town with a girl.

“Celestial Spirit Magic is surprisingly interesting.” Aito continued reading as they walked.

“It combines several different magical principles.

It’s much more sophisticated than I expected.” “Hehe.

Little Aito really does love learning every kind of magic.” Cana smiled at him.

“You already have the air of a scholar even though you’re so young.” “You’re definitely going to become an incredible Mage someday!” “Don’t you think researching magic is interesting too, Big Sis Cana?” “Hmm…” Cana thought about it.

“Magic is interesting, but learning it is really difficult.” “For an ordinary person, mastering even one kind of magic is already impressive.” “Besides, most Mages only care about being able to use their magic.” “Very few people dig into every little principle like you do.” Aito finally understood.

‘Right.’ ‘That’s because I have a cheat.’ Whenever Aito studied magic, his system rewarded him with experience.

No matter how difficult the spell was, as long as he gained even a tiny amount of experience, he could use an “inspiration burst” to instantly learn it.

He had never experienced the frustration of studying magic for months only to fail.

And after learning a spell, returning to its basic theory created a strange illusion.

‘Oh.’ ‘So that’s all there was to it.’ Because he’d learned so many different types of magic, Aito’s theoretical foundation had become astonishingly broad.

That accumulated knowledge then accelerated how quickly he gained experience when studying new magic.

It was a self-reinforcing cycle.

Learn magic.

Gain knowledge.

Use that knowledge to learn more magic even faster.

Then repeat.

Aito had essentially created a snowballing learning method where his left foot stepped on his right foot and somehow launched him into the sky.

No wonder he’d always found studying magic enjoyable.

The positive feedback was simply too strong.

“Huh?” Aito finally looked up from his book.

“I always thought everyone only specialized in one or two kinds of magic because they didn’t have enough time.” “So learning magic is actually difficult?” A throbbing anger symbol practically appeared over Cana’s head.

“…Even if it’s Aito, saying something that obnoxious means you should be prepared to get punched.” “Sorry.” Aito immediately admitted his mistake.

“My bad.” Then he smiled.

“In that case, I’ll create a summoning magic that even Big Sis Cana can learn easily.” Cana froze.

Then her eyes widened, and she suddenly grabbed Aito by both shoulders.

“Huh?!

Wait!” “Aito, are you saying you’re studying Celestial Spirit Magic because you want to create a new summoning magic for me?” Aito nodded.

“Yeah.” “I don’t know whether it’ll actually work, but that’s what I’m planning.” “Most magic in this world isn’t actually that complicated once you understand the underlying principles.” “Creating a new spell isn’t necessarily that hard either—” But Cana’s eyes were already sparkling.

She apparently cared about something completely different.

“Just for me?” “You’re going to create an entire magic just for me?!” “Uh…” Aito blinked.

“Yeah?” “Wow!” “Mwah!” Cana immediately hugged him and planted an enthusiastic kiss on his cheek.

“I love Aito the most!” “I’m definitely the happiest big sister in the whole world!” “…” Held in Cana’s arms like a stuffed doll, Aito could only smile helplessly.

‘I still don’t really understand how girls think.’ Then again…

‘Whatever.’ As long as Cana was happy, that was enough.
