The guild had been even noisier than usual lately.
The reason was simple.
Fairy Tail had gained an exceptionally troublesome newcomer— Natsu, the boy who ate fire.
That single brat possessed the destructive power of ten adults combined.
Aito had even heard that Natsu somehow managed to burn down the men’s dormitory.
Makarov had held Natsu up and yelled at him for ages that day.
He also warned every male guild member that if they destroyed the dormitory again, he wouldn’t rebuild it next time.
Unfortunately, Natsu was practically a demon incarnate.
He could fight Gray seven times in a single day.
The guild itself had already been set on fire several times, and Makarov was so furious that the few hairs he had left seemed ready to fall out.
This chaos continued until…
Erza returned from a job.
“You two!” “Get along properly!
Understood?!” “Y-Yes…” ×2 “And no more using magic inside the guild!” “No fighting either!
Understood?!” “U-Understood…” ×2 Two swollen pig-faced brats sat properly on their knees before Erza, barely daring to breathe.
“Good.” Erza nodded in satisfaction.
“You should both learn from Aito.” “He’s younger than either of you, yet he’s far more sensible.” Watching Erza tame the two little demons almost instantly, Cana found the whole thing disappointingly boring.
She had originally hoped to unite the three of them and overthrow Erza’s iron-fisted rule.
Apparently, that dream was dead.
“Sigh…” “Erza is still ridiculously overpowered.” Cana leaned against the table.
“Probably only Laxus can beat her.” “He might not make it this year, but he’s almost guaranteed to become S-Class next year.” “An S-Class Mage at sixteen or seventeen…
I’m jealous.” “He’s older than you.” Aito barely looked up.
“In a few years, Big Sis Cana can definitely do it too…” His response was unusually absentminded.
Because recently— Aito had been incredibly busy.
Ever since learning Celestial Spirit Magic, he’d become almost obsessed with his research.
He was currently scribbling calculations and diagrams into a small notebook.
Beside him, Cana sat hugging a round-faced pink “puppy” with a drill-shaped nose.
It was the Celestial Spirit of Canis Minor.
Aito had signed a contract allowing him to summon it at any time, seven days a week.
Maintaining the little dog consumed less Magic Power than Aito naturally recovered.
So he’d simply started keeping it around as a pet.
Several days earlier, after successfully summoning his first Celestial Spirit, a new skill had appeared on his panel.
[Celestial Spirit Magic LV0: 1/1000] Apparently, simply maintaining a summoning would gradually increase its experience.
Unfortunately…
The rate was unbelievably slow.
Several days had passed, yet he’d gained only four additional experience points.
That was despite repeatedly summoning Celestial Spirits and keeping Canis Minor manifested almost constantly.
There were only two possible explanations.
Either Aito had terrible compatibility with Celestial Spirit Magic…
Or his method of training it was completely wrong.
Fortunately, difficult magic didn’t bother Aito.
He had a cheat.
So he simply dumped 1,000 Inspiration Points into the skill.
Then— Something terrifying happened.
Celestial Spirit Magic shattered apart.
And vanished.
[Celestial Spirit Magic LV1] ↓ [Spatial Magic EXP +1000] [Link Magic LV1] [Star Magic LV1] [Time Magic LV1] [Contract Magic LV1] [Soul Magic LV1] [Heteromorphic Magic LV1] Aito had stared blankly at the panel when it happened.
Never in his wildest dreams had he expected Celestial Spirit Magic to pull something this ridiculous.
‘Wait.’ ‘So the system is telling me that this supposedly simple magic anyone can learn is actually a super-composite magic formed from seven advanced types of magic?!’ It was one hell of an eye-opener.
Who would’ve imagined it?
Aito had spent only 1,000 Inspiration Points and somehow obtained six types of magic he’d never touched before.
Of course, that also meant something terrifying.
If he wanted to truly master Celestial Spirit Magic…
He might need seven times the normal amount of experience.
Spatial Magic was easy enough to understand.
Summoning a Celestial Spirit from another dimension obviously involved advanced manipulation of space.
Link Magic created a magical connection between the Mage and their Celestial Spirit.
Star Magic utilized the power of the stars themselves.
Those three were all fairly obvious components.
Time Magic, however…
Aito had absolutely no idea.
After some testing, he discovered that he could reverse the “time” of nonliving objects.
The effect was currently extremely limited.
But he couldn’t figure out where Celestial Spirit Magic even used Time Magic in the first place.
Contract Magic was easier to understand.
In this world, it commonly appeared through written magical contracts.
It was especially common within merchant guilds, though ordinary Mages rarely used it.
Soul Magic had been a pleasant surprise.
Aito had already planned to eventually learn [Thought Projection], a clone-like magic he’d heard about.
Thought Projection itself belonged to the field of Soul Magic.
Learning Soul Magic beforehand would undoubtedly make studying it later much easier.
The final one, Heteromorphic Magic, left him completely lost.
He’d never even heard of such a magic before.
Aito suspected even the name had been generated by his system based on his own understanding.
After experimenting with it, he discovered that it could transform the attribute of Magic Power.
For example— It could convert fire-attribute Magic Power into ice-attribute Magic Power.
Naturally, some energy was lost during the conversion.
Aito still didn’t understand exactly what this magic was supposed to accomplish.
His current guess was— ‘Does Celestial Spirit Magic use it to convert the power of the stars into ordinary Magic Power?’ There was simply too much information.
For a moment, Aito felt like his brain was physically growing.
But at the same time…
He had the strange feeling that he’d accidentally uncovered an extraordinary secret.
That was why he’d spent most of his recent days organizing everything he’d learned about Celestial Spirit Magic.
If he couldn’t sort out the relationships between all these different forms of magic, creating a new summoning magic was completely out of the question.
Who could’ve imagined it?
The supposedly easy Celestial Spirit Magic he’d expected to casually learn had turned out to be a hidden boss.
It nearly scared the child to death.
Still, compared with what Aito had gained, these little problems hardly mattered.
Forget the six types of magic he’d essentially received for free.
While researching Celestial Spirit Magic, new ideas constantly flooded into his head.
His Inspiration Points skyrocketed.
The 1,000 points he’d spent had already returned more than tenfold.
The problem was…
Aito knew more and more magic now.
But he simply didn’t have enough time to practice all of it.
His Skill Panel was already packed with LV1 abilities that barely progressed.
As for using Inspiration Points to forcefully raise them?
Absolutely not.
Aito no longer felt like he had enough Inspiration Points either.
Because he’d finally discovered something extremely important— Raising Meditation increased the growth rate of his Magic Power.
That changed everything.
His Inspiration Points needed to be saved for Meditation.
So Aito’s current situation was simple.
Not enough Inspiration Points.
Not enough time.
And lately…
Not enough brainpower either.
It was making him anxious.
The feeling was like standing before countless mountains filled with treasure.
Every mountain would reveal priceless riches if he simply spent some time digging.
But there were far too many mountains.
He didn’t even know which one to start excavating.
It was enough to make him want to cry.
Looking back, Aito felt he’d been far too conservative.
He should’ve taken things further from the beginning.
Magic training needed to become part of every single aspect of his daily life.
His next decision— Completely abandon the inefficient activity known as “walking.” He would learn [Wind Magic] or [Gravity Magic] and teach himself to fly.
Then he could remain airborne wherever he went and constantly train his magic while moving.
After that…
Eat without using utensils and practice Magic Power Control instead.
Write without using his hands.
Bathe using Water Magic.
Dress with Requip.
Meditate while sleeping.
There were experience points everywhere!
Aito had already pushed Meditation to LV3 through Inspiration Points.
Its effect on increasing his maximum Magic Power had doubled, while meditation itself could now restore both mental energy and Magic Power.
Replacing an entire night’s sleep with meditation was still difficult.
But Aito believed he was moving in the right direction.
His plan was to save one million Inspiration Points.
Then— Push Meditation directly to LV4.
Once that happened, overtaking Erza in Magic Power would only be a matter of time.
Even after spending more than a hundred thousand points recently, Aito still had over five hundred thousand remaining.
At his current rate of accumulation, reaching one million should take less than a year.
So…
Aito needed to master the principles behind Celestial Spirit Magic.
He needed to learn Wind Magic and Gravity Magic.
He needed to create an entirely new summoning magic for Cana.
He needed to find an opportunity to study Dragon Slayer Magic.
He needed to study.
Train.
Write new chapters.
And spend time with his big sisters…
‘Aaaah!’ ‘I’m so busy!’ ‘I wish I could grow six more brains and turn into seven Vegapunks!’ After learning Celestial Spirit Magic, an entirely new door into the world of magic had opened before Aito.
It was only the second time since arriving in this world that magic had shocked him this deeply.
The first— Was when he’d first used Telepathy Magic.
From here onward…
Just where would Aito’s path through magic eventually lead?
