Underneath the daily routine, the gears of fate kept turning.

One afternoon a few days later, sunlight slanted through the Toretto Garage windows.

Jake worked on a car, trading playful banter with Mia.Full novel: Fast & Furious: I Tuned Dom’s Charger and Stole His Sister — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Life felt good.

Then the door burst open.

Jesse stumbled in, pale and breathing hard.

Sweat beaded on his forehead.

A fresh scrape marked his face.

His work pants were torn at the knee, caked with dust.

His eyes still held raw panic.

“Dom!

Something’s wrong!” Jesse’s voice shook as he nearly collapsed against the workbench.

Dom set down his tools, brow furrowing.

“Jesse.

Breathe.

What happened?” His low voice carried steady authority, like a calm anchor in a storm.

Jake and Mia rushed over.

Mia handed Jesse a bottle of water.

“Take a breath first.” Jesse gulped it down, water mixing with sweat running off his chin.

He sucked in air, trying to steady himself, but his voice still trembled.

“It’s Johnny Tran.

And his cousin, Lance.” Dom’s eyes went sharp as a blade.

Letty stepped out from the back, her face dark.

Jake felt a jolt of recognition.

Johnny Tran.

The main antagonist from the first film.

He ran an illegal electronics ring and led a vicious Asian-American street racing crew.

“What did they do?” Dom’s tone dropped to something dangerous.

“I was just delivering a part on the east side.” Jesse swallowed hard.

“At a red light, they boxed me in.

Forced me to the side of the road.” He pointed at the scrape on his face, the torn pants.

“I got out to ask what their problem was.

Lance shoved me.

I went down.

Then Johnny walked over.” Jesse’s face twisted with humiliation and fear.

“He smashed my headlight.

My windshield.

Then he had a warning.” “About what?” Dom stepped closer, his massive frame looming.

Jesse’s voice dropped, almost a whisper.

“He said…

this street’s ‘business’ isn’t ours.

And if we stick our noses where they don’t belong, next time it won’t be the car they smash.

It’ll be our heads.” Silence filled the garage.

The distant hum of traffic only made the tension thicker.

Johnny Tran’s “business” was the stolen DVD operation.

His warning was obvious: Dom’s crew was stepping on his territory.

It was a direct challenge.

A declaration of war.

“That bastard!” Letty’s fists clenched.

Mia looked at Dom, then at Jake.

She knew Johnny Tran’s crew was vicious.

Armed.

And they didn’t play by any rules.

Dom’s face was stone.

He didn’t explode.

But his eyes burned with cold fire.

His family was his line.

Jesse getting hurt was a direct attack on him.

“He smashed your car?” Dom’s voice was eerily calm.

Jesse nodded, eyes red.

That Honda was his pride and joy.

Dom gripped Jesse’s shoulder.

Firm.

Solid.

“We’ll fix your car.

And we’ll settle this.

Nobody touches my family.” He looked around the garage, taking in Letty, Jake, Mia.

His gaze settled somewhere in the distance, like he was already seeing the storm ahead.

“Jake,” Dom said.

“Close the door.” Jake moved without hesitation, pulling the roll-up door halfway down.

The garage dimmed.

Only work lights cast pools of focus.

Brian rushed in, having heard the commotion.

He took in the scene: Jesse’s battered state, the tense faces.

“What happened?” he asked, his voice low.

Letty filled him in.

Brian’s jaw tightened.

As a cop, he saw gang violence escalating.

As an undercover operative, he had to show solidarity.

“We can’t let this slide!” Vince burst in, furious.

“We hit Johnny Tran hard!

Remind him who runs these streets!” Dom raised a hand, cutting Vince off.

He walked to the center of the garage, where the most important cars were kept.

His eyes swept over every face.

Letty.

Vince.

Jesse.

Mia.

Brian.

And finally, Jake.

“Johnny Tran went after family,” Dom said, his voice echoing in the dim space.

“That means war.

But we don’t fight stupid.” His gaze landed on Jake and Brian.

The two newest, most capable members.

“Jake.

Your skill and your head are valuable.

Brian.

You’ve got more than speed in you.” Dom’s words carried calculation.

“We need a plan.

One that sends a message.

And one that keeps our people safe.” Jake felt the gravity of it.

The real plot was pulling him in.

He met Dom’s gaze and nodded.

Steady.

“What do you need?” Brian spoke up too.

“I’m in.” Dom’s lips curved into a cold, sharp smile.

The predator’s grin.

Ready for the hunt.

“Good.” He walked to the workbench and spread out a hand-drawn map of Los Angeles.

His finger landed on the east side, Johnny Tran’s territory.

“First, we find out when their next ‘delivery’ is.

And exactly what route they’re taking…” In the dim garage, shielded from the afternoon sun, a counterstrike was being born.

The shadows were closing in.

And the Toretto family’s answer would come faster than anyone expected.
