Zhou Bai returned to school and spent the evening in the library constantly checking her phone.

You Mei, sitting across from her, couldn’t help but whisper, “Are you in a relationship?”

Zhou Bai was startled and quickly flipped her phone over. “Of course not, don’t talk nonsense.”Full novel: Forced Marriage: Young Master Gu’s Secret Wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“If you’re not in a relationship, why are you checking your phone so often? You never used to be like this,” You Mei teased with a smile.

Zhou Bai blushed. “I’m waiting for an important message. I don’t want to miss it.”

“Alright, alright, I won’t say anything more,” You Mei said with a suggestive wink.

Zhou Bai frowned, sensing something in You Mei’s gaze—as if she had misunderstood something.

However, she didn’t have the energy to press further, her mind preoccupied with whether Gu Chengjin would message her.

He had been urging her to come home for the past two days, but would he ask again today?

She waited until the lights went out in the evening, but Gu Chengjin’s message never came. Finally, Zhou Bai could sleep peacefully.

Life seemed to return to how it was before. For several days in a row, Gu Chengjin didn’t contact her.

Instead, rumors of him with a female celebrity surfaced again.

You Mei pointed at Gu Chengjin’s profile on TV and asked Zhou Bai, “Xiao Bai, don’t you think the CEO of Jincheng International looks a lot like our Professor Gu? Their names even sound similar.”

“Oh, really? I’m not sure,” Zhou Bai replied indifferently, glancing at Gu Chengjin and Zhou Muyan on the screen.

You Mei smiled again. “I think you look a bit like this Zhou Muyan too, especially around the eyes. But your other features are prettier than hers. If you became a celebrity, you’d definitely be more popular than her.”

“I have social anxiety. I blush just talking to people. How could I be a celebrity?” Zhou Bai said.

You Mei nodded. “That’s true.”

“Zhou Bai.” Gu Chengyang approached with a tray.

You Mei quickly tugged at Zhou Bai’s sleeve, whispering, “Professor Gu is here.”

Zhou Bai looked up calmly. “Is there something you need, Professor Gu?”

“I’ll leave you two to talk,” You Mei said tactfully, picking up her tray and walking away.

Zhou Bai frowned. Had You Mei misunderstood?

“I heard you’ve been staying in the dormitory these past few days. Did you have a fight with Third Brother?” Gu Chengyang asked softly after sitting down.

“Professor Gu, this is the school. Please be mindful of the setting,” Zhou Bai replied.

“I’m just worried you might be upset. If you have any grievances, you can tell me,” Gu Chengyang said earnestly, glancing at the news on TV.

Zhou Bai thought to herself, Even you are completely under Gu Chengjin’s thumb. What good would it do to tell you if I were upset?

“Lin Yuyang, wait up. I need to talk to you.”

Suddenly spotting Lin Yuyang passing by, Zhou Bai quickly stood up with her tray and walked toward him.

Lin Yuyang was the heartthrob of their department—sunny, handsome, with two charming dimples when he smiled. Dressed in clean sportswear, just looking at him felt refreshing.

Countless girls at the school had a crush on him, and even Gu Yunyun from outside the school was drawn to him.

“Senior?” Lin Yuyang exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with surprise and delight.

Zhou Bai cleared her throat, glancing at Gu Chengyang’s displeased expression before saying to Lin Yuyang, “I have something to discuss with you. Is it convenient to talk outside?”

“Of course, Senior. I’m always available for you,” Lin Yuyang replied with a smile.

Zhou Bai returned her tray and walked out of the cafeteria with Lin Yuyang.

In truth, she had only called out to Lin Yuyang to avoid Gu Chengyang.

However, Gu Yunyun’s letter had been in her bag for several days, never returned, and now it felt awkward to give it back.

Since she couldn’t return it, she should help deliver it. What was the point of keeping it on her all this time?

“Senior, what did you want to tell me?” Lin Yuyang gazed at her intently.

Zhou Bai felt uncomfortable under his stare, thinking to herself, Are kids these days always this enthusiastic?

No wonder so many girls like him. His gaze is so intense—what young girl wouldn’t be moved?

Unfortunately, she was no longer a young girl, so with a calm heart, she took out the letter and said, “A friend asked me to give this to you. I should have given it to you sooner, but I never found the right opportunity.”

Lin Yuyang’s eyes lit up with joy when he saw her take a letter from her bag.

But soon, hearing that she was delivering it for someone else, his bright eyes gradually dimmed.

“So, Senior is delivering it for someone else,” he said, his tone tinged with resentment.

“Read the letter first! There should be contact information on it. You can decide what to do—whether to reach out or not,” Zhou Bai said without much thought, assuming Gu Yunyun would have written her name and contact details in the love letter.

“Senior, I—”

“Sorry, I need to take this call.”

Zhou Bai’s phone suddenly rang, interrupting Lin Yuyang. She took out her phone and walked away while answering.

Lin Yuyang sighed softly. The words he wanted to say remained unspoken. Reluctantly, he stuffed the letter into his pocket, glanced at Zhou Bai one last time with reluctance, and left quietly without saying goodbye.

The call was from home, but it wasn’t about anything important—just her mother suddenly reminding her to take care of herself.

If someone came looking for her in the next few days, she shouldn’t get involved.

“Mom, who would come looking for me?” Zhou Bai asked curiously.

Zhao Jianfang didn’t explain and simply hung up.

Puzzled, Zhou Bai turned around and saw that Lin Yuyang had already left. She didn’t dwell on it.

However, her phone soon buzzed again—a message from Gu Chengjin.

Seeing the words “Big Demon King,” Zhou Bai couldn’t help but tremble slightly. Why is he contacting me again?

Hasn’t the contact been a bit too frequent lately?

“Meet at the usual place tonight.”

That was all the message said—another invitation to meet at their usual spot.

Zhou Bai sighed softly. It must be about the scandal with Zhou Muyan again.

In the past, Gu Chengjin never had scandals with the same woman twice.

This time, it’s the second time. Could it be true love?

A flicker of hope rose in Zhou Bai’s heart. Maybe this meeting was to discuss divorce.

“Amei, I have something to do tonight and might not be back. Don’t wait for me,” Zhou Bai said to You Mei as they left the library.

You Mei smiled and asked, “Xiao Bai, you’ve been skipping the dorm frequently lately. Are you really dating someone?”

“No, just some personal matters,” Zhou Bai insisted.

“Alright, I won’t pry. Stay safe,” You Mei reminded her.

Zhou Bai jogged all the way to the west campus gate.

However, Lin Yuyang spotted her as she passed the basketball court.

Just as he was about to greet her, she ran past.

By the time Lin Yuyang caught up to the west campus gate, he saw her getting into a black business car.

Lin Yuyang recognized the model—a Maybach, an expensive car.

Zhou Bai usually dressed plainly and worked part-time while studying. How could she know someone so wealthy?

“Madam.”

Zhou Bai ran to the school gate but didn’t see Gu Chengjin. Instead, she saw Yan Wei standing by the car. After greeting him, he opened the car door for her.

Without thinking much, Zhou Bai got in, only to realize Gu Chengjin wasn’t in the car.

However, the car had already started moving. With Yan Wei sitting in the front, she felt too awkward to ask him where Gu Chengjin was.
