“Grrrrh!
Grrrrh!
Grrrrh!” Sylvia groaned softly as the persistent sound of her alarm pulled her from the depths of sleep.
With her eyelids barely open, she stretched one hand across the mattress, blindly patting the space beside her until her fingers finally found her phone.
Once she grabbed the device, she forced her eyes open enough to see the screen.
With a quick swipe, she dismissed the alarm and allowed herself a few more seconds before slowly pushing herself into a sitting position.
The room was still quiet, and for a brief moment, Sylvia simply sat there, trying to shake off the lingering drowsiness.
After Damian had left, she had quickly taken a bath and changed into the pajamas she had brought out earlier.
They were much simpler and more comfortable than the dresses hanging inside the wardrobe, and after everything she had endured that day, comfort was exactly what she needed.
Once done, she had settled into bed and decided to get some rest.
She needed all the energy she could gather if she was going to figure out how to handle this unexpected marriage and plan out her new life.
Still, the thought of dinner had lingered somewhere in the back of her mind.
‘I can’t be rude on the first day.’ She had no intention of pretending that everything about this marriage was normal, but that did not mean she wanted to start her life at Evercrest Manor by deliberately offending everyone.
So, to avoid such a disaster, she had set her alarm for six thirty.
Now that she was awake, she picked up her phone and spent a few seconds scrolling through it.
It was the only personal belongings she had brought with her when she arrived at the Evercrest family home.
As expected, there were several missed calls and messages from her close friends and parents.
Her parents had been asking how she had been received and whether the Evercrests were suspicious of anything.
Sylvia read through their messages with an expressionless face.
However, when she reached the final message, the faint warmth in her eyes disappeared completely.
‘No matter what happens, you mustn’t reveal anything…otherwise, we can’t guarantee what comes next.’ Sylvia’s lips curled into a cold smile.
There was practically no reason to reply.
Even now, her parents were only worried about themselves and what might happen to the Quinn family if the truth came out.
She shook her head and moved on to the next message.
It was from her best friend.
The message was short…almost clipped.’Where are you?
Don’t tell me you are the bride?
Others might not know, but I can recognize even your ashes.’ Sylvia stared at the message for a few seconds before helplessly patting her forehead.
She had completely forgotten about Amara.
The wedding had been highly publicized, and although Sylvia had been extremely careful not to reveal her face to the cameras, a few people who knew her well might still have noticed her.
And Amara was one of those people.
Even if she had somehow avoided recognizing her during the wedding, she would have figured something was wrong eventually.
After all, she and Sylvia had already scheduled a meeting after Leslie’s wedding reception so they could spend some time together and relieve the stress of everything that had happened.
Now, Sylvia was nowhere near the Quinn estate, and given everything that had happened, she had completely forgotten about their plans.
She slowly exhaled.
Well, she could lie to the Evercrests and pretend to be Leslie, but she certainly was not going to lie to herself or her best friend.
No matter whom she had married, she had made one promise to herself.
She would continue living her life as normally as possible.
With that thought in mind, she quickly typed out a brief message.
“Keep that a secret for me…I will explain a few things when we meet.” She read the message several times before adding a heart emoji and pressing the send button.
Amara had always been smart.
If there was anyone Sylvia trusted to keep her secret, it was her.
She would know how to deal with that bunch of girls and convince them that she was not the bride they had seen.
As for everything else, she believed sje would handle it herself.
Besides, the matter with this marriage, the fewer people who knew the truth, the better.
But just as she placed her phone down and prepared to get ready, it suddenly rang.
Sylvia glanced at the screen, and a small smile immediately appeared on her lips.
‘She was really fast.’ She swiped the answer button and raised the phone to her ear.
Amara’s angry voice immediately burst through the speaker.
“What the hell was that, Syl?” Sylvia closed her eyes briefly and pulled the phone slightly away from her ear.
“Hey, girl, calm down.
My eardrum is already aching.” “You still dare to joke?” Amara demanded.
“I asked what the hell that was!
You married that waste of the Evercrest family?
Isn’t the bride your sister?” Sylvia sighed heavily.
‘It seems I can’t escape this.’ “Well, she bailed,” she finally admitted.
“She left the wedding gown behind, and…” “And you took over?” “I was shoved into it,” Sylvia countered immediately.
There was a brief silence on the other end.
“I think you must be joking.” “I am really not joking.” Sylvia drew in a deep breath before continuing.
“You know what?
I promise we can talk about this properly tomorrow.
For now, I have something I need to handle.” “…” “Please, I promise I will explain everything properly.” Amara remained silent for another moment before finally sighing.
“Okay.
But you better have a good reason.
Otherwise, I am not done with you.” Sylvia laughed softly.
“Okay.
There is one more thing.” “What is it?” Amara asked, her voice immediately becoming suspicious again.
“Help me keep this a secret.
It is quite complicated, but I hope you can handle the girls.” Amara did not answer immediately.
Sylvia could almost imagine her friend sitting somewhere with her arms folded, weighing the seriousness of the situation.
After a few seconds, Amara finally spoke in a much softer voice.
“I will.
But you must promise me that you will take care of yourself.” “I will,” Sylvia answered reassuringly.
However, Amara was not finished.”The Evercrests aren’t simple, Syl.
Not even the youngest member of that family is someone you should underestimate.” Sylvia chuckled softly.
“I will keep that in mind.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Lilyheart Creation is hard, cheer me up!
