After the call ended, Sylvia lowered the phone and released a long breath.

At least Amara knew the truth now, and knowing that someone she trusted was aware of her situation, she felt noticeably relieved.

Things might not be simple at Evercrest Manor, but Sylvia did not believe she was weak either.Full novel: Forced to marry: I found a perfect husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She had already been thrown into a marriage she never wanted and forced to take her sister’s place… What else was there to see other than an arrogant intimidating husband, and probably a family with a unique rule.

Whatever it is, she could only make decisions as they come.

And If the Evercrests wanted to make things difficult for her, then so be it.

She was not planning to surrender without a fight.

‘If the Evercrests aren’t simple…are they sure I am simple?’ A faint smile tugged at her lips.

‘Well, it is a long game.

Who knows who will laugh last?’ With that thought, Sylvia finally got out of bed and returned to the bathroom.

She washed her face thoroughly before stepping back into the bedroom and opening the wardrobe.

Her eyes swept across the collection of dresses once again.

Without wasting any more time, Sylvia reached for a light green dress.

The fabric felt soft and cool against her fingers, and that alone was enough to convince her.

Sylvia had always preferred comfort over whatever appeal an elaborate outfit might offer.

That was one of the clearest differences between her and Leslie.

Leslie was a complete fashionista.

She preferred to remain elegant and glamorous at all times, even when there was absolutely no reason to dress up.

Sylvia stared at the dress in her hands and shook her head.

‘It seems I am not just going to impersonate her name.

I will have to imitate her habits too.’ “Quite a difficult task,” she muttered under her breath.

Then, she changed into the dress and returned to the dressing table.

The body products arranged there were not exactly the same as the ones she used at home, but they were good enough for her to make use of.

Besides, her skin was relatively easy to please.

She quickly applied a little body lotion before picking up a few of the cosmetics arranged neatly across the table.

Since she was impersonating her sister, Sylvia thought it would probably be wise to use a little makeup as well.

She applied it carefully, keeping everything soft and natural.

She had no intention of transforming herself into Leslie.

She simply needed to look close enough to the woman everyone in this house believed she was.

By the time she finished, it was already five minutes before seven.

Sylvia glanced at herself in the mirror one final time before bending down to pick up her phone.

Just then, a soft knock sounded against the door.

“Who’s there?” she asked as she walked toward it.

After Damian’s stunt earlier, she had made sure to lock the door behind her.

She reached the door and pulled it open and a maid was standing outside.

The young woman immediately lowered her head.

“Young Miss…” “You should look up when you are talking to me,” Sylvia interrupted calmly.

The maid’s brows furrowed slightly.

“But…” “I don’t care how you speak to other people, but when you are talking to me, I want to see your face.” The maid swallowed nervously.

‘Looking at her while I speak…isn’t that courting death?’ Everyone in the Evercrest household knew better than to look directly at the members of the family unless they were spoken to first.

Yet this new young mistress was telling her to do exactly that.

“You can’t do it?” Sylvia asked when she noticed the maid’s conflicted expression.

The maid hurriedly shook her head.

“I can do it,” she answered quickly.

She had only managed to secure this job two months ago, and she could not afford to lose it now.

Not when her mother still needed medical attention.

‘It is just looking up.’ Gathering her courage, she slowly lifted her face.

Her fingers remained clasped nervously in front of her as she looked at Sylvia.

“Young Miss, dinner is ready.

You may proceed to the dining hall.” Sylvia nodded.

“Alright, thank you.” The girl’s eyes widened slightly.

‘Thank you?’ She stared at Sylvia in disbelief.

‘In Evercrest, that is definitely a first.’ The maid quickly lowered her eyes again, a few thoughts crossed her mind but sje kept that to herself.

Completely unaware of what was going through the girl’s mind, Sylvia only smiled.

“You go ahead.

I will be there in a jiffy.” The girl nodded obediently and walked away without another word.

Sylvia watched her retreating figure until she disappeared around the corner before releasing a slow breath.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

‘It seems Amara was right.

These people really are an arrogant set.’ She shook her head lightly and turned around, she walked back into her room.

In just a few steps she reached the table where she had left her phone.

She picked it up, checked the screen briefly, and then slipped it into her hand as she headed toward the door.

However, just as she stepped into the hallway, the door beside hers suddenly opened.

Damian rolled out in his wheelchair, his expression as calm and unreadable as ever.

Mark emerged behind him a moment later, adjusting the sleeve of his shirt as he followed behind him, his grip on the wheelchair.

Sylvia’s steps slowed when she noticed them.

For a brief moment, she glanced at Damian before she looked away.

She had no intention of getting involved in with him, so she simply closed her door behind her and continued walking down the hallway.

She had barely taken a few steps when Damina’s’s voice came from behind her.

“Miss Quinn, shouldn’t a husband and wife go to dinner together?” Sylvia stopped.

Mark glanced at Damian, and a strange thought immediately crossed his mind.

‘Something is really wrong with my boss.’ Usually, Damian would be the first person to avoid unnecessary interaction with people.

Yet here he was, deliberately following her out and seemingly expecting her to join him as they go down for dinner.

Sylvia drew in a slow, deep breath before turning around.

Her gaze settled on Damian, who remained seated in his wheelchair, his expression giving nothing away.

“Mr.

Damian,” she said calmly, “husbands don’t address their wives by their family names.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Lilyheart Don’t forget to support with your votes…GT or PS
