Thank you 🙂 ——————– “Aaron, I’ve already transferred the route map back to your Pokedex.
At your speed, it should take two days at most before you see the Ranger station.
You can rest up there for a bit, and when the weather clears up someday, just have Pidgeotto guide you down the mountain.” Chase instructed Aaron patiently, afraid this kid wouldn’t listen and end up a popsicle again.
Furthermore, to prove his identity, Chase specially recorded a video for him to make it easier to gain Pidgeotto’s trust.
“Got it, Mr.
Chase.
I’ll pay special attention this time!” Aaron bowed to Chase once more, then mounted his Typhlosion and galloped away.
Many Pokémon in the real world differed somewhat from the data in Chase’s memory, and this was most prominently reflected in their size.
Even though Aaron’s Typhlosion had just evolved not long ago and was under Level 40, its standing height was already close to 1.9 meters, and its width was nearly that of two adults.
Overall, it was even a bit larger than Blaze.
“Sigh, this kid is reckless enough.
To dare venture into the forest alone in the dead of winter, and with only one Pokémon at that.
If he hadn’t run into me, he really would have been a goner.” Chase shook his head helplessly.
During their two days together, Chase had already found out seventy to eighty percent of the young man’s situation.
He knew that Aaron had flown from Goldenrod City in the Johto region to the Sinnoh region just last month, and then, wanting to take advantage of the time before winter set in, entered the forest west of Canalave City to see if he could catch a few suitable Pokémon to round out his team, which also counted as early preparation for the Lily of the Valley Conference.
According to Aaron’s original plan, he would only go into the forest to search for Pokémon during the day, and return to Canalave City to rest at night.
After all, with the harsh winter approaching, Aaron also knew that if he accidentally got trapped in the forest, it would be a dead end.
However, during one particular exploration, Aaron spotted a highly talented Snover.
Then, while tracking it, he accidentally went too deep into the forest.
By the time he realized it, not only was the Snover long gone, but he had also completely lost his bearings.
After that, he used the wilderness survival knowledge he had learned to find a river, but the food he carried had long since been eaten completely.
It could only be said that Aaron’s timing was indeed quite poor.
If it had been a month or two earlier, setting aside the temperature issue, the sheer number of ripe Berries in the forest would have ensured their survival.
But without any physical stamina, even with a Fire-type Pokémon like Typhlosion by his side, he could only watch helplessly as his body gradually lost heat.
Fortunately, before losing consciousness, Aaron still recalled Typhlosion into its Poké Ball, thinking it might somewhat increase its survival rate.
“Sigh, these underage rookie Trainers are really a handful, every single one of them.” Chase sighed again.
Logically speaking, in the Pokémon world, as long as you didn’t go to overly remote places, there basically wasn’t much danger.
But they just couldn’t help the fact that some Trainers always felt invincible after getting Pokémon.
Cases like Aaron’s, caused by a moment of carelessness, were somewhat understandable.
But if it were those who actively courted death, Chase really wouldn’t have an ounce of sympathy for them.
Of course, that’s what he said, but if someone in his jurisdiction really encountered danger, regardless of whether they brought it upon themselves or not, as a Ranger, he definitely had to rescue them.
It was his job, and ultimately, that was a life with its own family and friends…
…
Just like that, another day passed.
Chase finally found the location the Lombre had told him about—an area near a very expansive-looking large lake.
With mountains, water, and woods, it was indeed a habitat that many Pokémon liked to live in, especially Grass-type and Bug-type Pokémon.
However, as the weather gradually turned cold, the Pokémon had long since hidden in their nests.
Unless they were Ice-type Pokémon like Snover, they basically wouldn’t come out and wander around anymore.
“Where should I start looking?” Chase, having arrived at the lake, was a bit stumped.
There were definitely a lot of Pokémon living nearby, so he absolutely couldn’t make too much of a commotion, otherwise he could easily get mobbed.
Just as Chase was scratching his head frantically over this, he suddenly noticed a pair of big, dark, shiny eyes curiously staring at him from beneath the lake’s surface not far away.
“That’s…” [Eye of Insight] activated, and various pieces of information about a Pokémon floated before Chase’s eyes.
Shellos Level: 15 Gender: Female Type: Water Ability: Storm Drain Potential: Green Moves: Water Gun, Mud-Slap, Harden, Recover, Water Pulse.
After focusing his attention, Chase finally noticed the patches of pink skin near those little dark eyes.
It was a West Sea Shellos.
The little guy obviously also knew that Chase had spotted it, but whether it was relying on being in the water or was just naturally bold, its gaze looking over became even more unbridled.
Anyway, he couldn’t think of any good ideas for the time being, so he might as well play with the little guy for a bit.
Thus, the large human and the small Pokémon began a staring contest.
Chase’s Super Rookie Physique also played a rather subtle role at this moment; by the time Shellos couldn’t hold back its blink, he felt he still had plenty of energy to spare.
“Shell, Shellos Shell!” Realizing it had lost, the Shellos immediately started thrashing about in the water, seemingly venting its inner frustration.
Watching the little guy’s dedicated performance, Chase felt his own mood soothe a little as well.
“Goodbye, little guy.” Chase waved at the Shellos in the water, then got up and prepared to look around with Blaze for any traces of Grass-type Pokémon.
He couldn’t just sit here doing nothing, right?
Seeing Chase about to leave, the unyielding Shellos couldn’t possibly agree.
It immediately dashed underwater, came ashore, and tightly hugged Chase’s pant leg, refusing to let him go.
“You little thing, how can you be such a sore loser.” Chase grabbed the tiny Shellos off his leg and flicked its little forehead—not too hard, but not too soft either.
“Shellos Shell…” (ó﹏ò。) The Shellos instantly became teary-eyed, and the few pink tentacles on top of its head started swaying constantly, as if protesting Chase’s “violent” behavior.
“Hahaha.” Chase was amused and casually took a Pokéblock from his backpack, stuffing it into the other’s mouth.
Shellos: (ó﹏ò。) Chew chew chew…
Delicious!!!
After chewing subconsciously, along with the sweet taste spreading in its mouth, the little guy’s face immediately cleared up like the sun after the rain, looking completely full of the taste of happiness.
