What an easy-to-please little fellow.
Chase smiled silently, ruffled the Shellos’s little head, and gently placed it back by the edge of the lake.
“Alright, hurry home now, or your family will start worrying about you.” Looking at Shellos’ adorable appearance, Chase couldn’t resist giving it another flick on the forehead.
The startled little guy immediately jumped into the lake, popping its head back up a moment later to protest loudly at Chase.
“Haha.” “Go on back.
I’ve got things to do, so I’ll be heading out.” Waving goodbye to the Shellos, Chase mounted Blaze and began surveying the surrounding area.
After roughly half a day, they had found traces of quite a few Pokémon species, which naturally included the Grass-type Pokémon that Chase had been constantly thinking about.
“This yellow petal should be from a Skiploom, but given their tribe’s habits, they should have already flown off to warmer places for the winter.” Chase tossed the somewhat withered petal in his hand onto the ground.
“As for these blue petals, they might be from a Roselia or a Roserade, but right now I have no idea where they’re holed up.” Chase sighed softly, then successively identified the owners of the other traces.
Cherrim, Carnivine, Leavanny, Snover, Lilligant…
The variety of Grass-type Pokémon far exceeded the nine species the Lombre had mentioned previously.
But being a stranger in this unfamiliar land, where on earth was he supposed to find them?
However, as night began to fall, Chase had to quickly find a suitable spot to set up camp, taking the opportunity to whip up something good to reward his rumbling stomach.
The camping spot was naturally chosen right by the large lake, making it much more convenient to fetch water and such.
After a round of skillful cooking, a delicious meal was laid out in front of Chase.
With the sky as his blanket and the earth as his bed, a grand lake as his view and the forest at his back, plus having both a feline and a canine companion by his side, Chase’s mood instantly brightened quite a bit.
“Let’s eat first.
Tomorrow, I’ll have Blaze and Zangoose come with me to search carefully around the spot where we found the shed Leavanny leaves.
Maybe we’ll actually discover something.” Chase distributed dinner to his two furry companions while fine-tuning tomorrow’s work plan in his mind.
The Leavanny evolutionary line didn’t have migratory habits.
Faced with the harsh winter, they would likely choose to fortify their nests right where they were and store enough food to tide them over.
Moreover, as long as their children or other young Pokémon weren’t involved, Leavanny were generally quite reasonable.
If Chase could appeal to their emotions and reason with them then, there was a high probability he could persuade them to help out.
As for the remaining Pokémon, convincing the Cherrim and Lilligant to come and help shouldn’t be too difficult.
The only issue was that Lilligant generally lived alone.
To get it to help, it would very likely demand a guarantee that its territory would remain safe in its absence.
This significantly raised the difficulty of the task, and Chase couldn’t help but get a headache again.
“Bi…
doof?” Suddenly, a Pokémon’s cry came from the edge of the lake.
Chase turned to look and, by the light cast from the camp, discovered that the source of the sound was a Bidoof.
On the other side, the Bidoof, realizing its whereabouts were exposed, didn’t panic in the slightest.
It strolled out of the water nonchalantly, its somewhat vacant eyes staring dead ahead in Chase’s direction.
Chase: “???” Watching the Bidoof already lifting its feet and heading toward him, Chase, who had no idea how to communicate with the other party, had no choice but to activate his Capture Styler.
He launched the top-shaped Capture Disc, which spun continuously in circles around the Bidoof.
“Bidoof?” The Bidoof looked utterly bewildered at the converging rings of light.
It instinctively wanted to flee, but was drawn in by the genuine goodwill contained within them, ultimately accepting the link Chase initiated.
“Bidoof, Bi.” You…
are that very weird-looking Pokémon that Little Shell mentioned, right.
The very first sentence out of the Bidoof’s mouth dumbfounded Chase, thinking to himself: How exactly do I look weird?
However, now clearly wasn’t the time to argue about this.
Chase stepped in front of the Bidoof, smiled warmly, and asked what it was doing here.
In response to this question, however, the Bidoof first shook its head, then nodded.
“Bidoof, Bi.” Came out to play, smelled something good, found the weird Pokémon.
Alright, its communication skills might be lacking, but Chase generally understood the Bidoof’s meaning.
“So you were just craving a snack.” Chase gently poked the Bidoof’s forehead.
“But that stuff is my food, so I can’t just hand it out to you.” “Bidoof…” (。•́︿•̀。) As soon as the words left his mouth, the Bidoof’s expression visibly drooped.
“But I can give you these.” Chase smiled as he took out two Pokéblocks and placed them into the Bidoof’s paws, leaving the latter momentarily stunned.
“Go on, eat up.
They’re really good.” Upon hearing this, the Bidoof unhesitatingly scarfed both Pokéblocks into its mouth and started chewing away, puffing up its cheek pouches immensely.
The very next second, the sweet taste made it involuntarily squint its eyes in bliss, revealing the exact same expression of happiness as the Shellos.
These poor little guys living out in the wild had clearly never experienced the technological wonders of human culinary arts, getting completely conquered in just a single bite.
“By the way, little guy, is this ‘Little Shell’ you mentioned earlier a pink Shellos?” Chase squatted in front of the Bidoof and asked.
With its mouth still full of food, the Bidoof could only nod vigorously, unable to speak.
“Just as I thought…” Chase wasn’t surprised at all.
He then escorted the Bidoof back to the water’s edge, preparing to head back and enjoy the rest of his dinner.
But before Chase could take more than a few steps, he heard a series of rapid footsteps behind him.
Turning around, he saw the Bidoof, having already swallowed its Pokéblocks, standing at his feet and looking up at him with longing.
It clearly wanted more Pokéblocks.
“No more.
Besides, you already got one more than the Shellos did.” Chase shook his head, ignoring the pitiful look on its face.
The Pokéblocks Chase brought on this trip were all earmarked for specific uses.
Moreover, for wild Pokémon, eating too many Pokéblocks wasn’t actually a good thing.
If they got too accustomed to the taste and developed an aversion to regular food, that would be terrible.
“Bidoof, Bi…” I can work for you!
I’m really good at digging holes and chopping down trees…
The Bidoof grew a bit anxious and immediately struck a pose, trying to convey how awesome it was and how much work it could do.
“Sorry, I don’t really need any holes dug or trees chopped right now,” Chase replied.
But just as he said that, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind: “However, you could actually help me with something else.” “Are you or your tribe familiar with the Grass-type Pokémon around here?
I need to ask them for some help.” —————————————————— There’s something for free patrons too!
