Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 466: Chaotic Space
Once they began to realise just how extraordinarily difficult full recovery potions were to make, I decided to teach them something else. If this continued, they might lose confidence, and that would be bad.
“Your skills will improve as long as you keep working carefully and precisely. It is also better to learn how to make a wide variety of magic potions.”
“Now that you mention it, I feel like I’ve been making the same potions over and over lately.”
Arisa and the others gave wry smiles. I supposed that could not be helped. Royal magic pharmacists belonged to an organisation responsible for producing the potions the kingdom required, so they could not simply make whatever they pleased. Of course, I was sure they still researched many different recipes.
After that, I taught them how to make Hot Cookies, plant nutrient solution, basic sustained mana-restoration potions, ointments, water-repellent coating agents and several other compounds. Lady Fabienne, who already knew the recipes, helped me demonstrate each process before everyone tried making them for themselves.
They all produced high-quality results on their first attempt. Hopefully, that restored a little of their confidence.
“Um, I know it is rather late to ask, but… was it truly all right to teach us these recipes? They are confidential, are they not?”
Arisa asked timidly, but her eyes sparkled and her body trembled as though she had been overcome with emotion. Was that not a little excessive? Lady Fabienne and I chuckled at her reaction, only to notice that Lyla and Clark were trembling in exactly the same way.
Fabienne and I instinctively returned to serious expressions. Wait—was this a mistake?
“It is fine. I trust all of you. You would never misuse what you have learned here, would you? Besides, Lyla and Clark will be working with me to make potions at the House Heine estate. There is no problem.”
“Of course! We’ll handle these secret recipes with the utmost care.”
“As expected of Professor Julius. The experience of working with you will be passed down through the generations!”
“No need to pass it down through the generations, alright?”
Lyla and Clark’s eyes shone so brightly that they were almost dazzling. Just what, exactly, were they planning to pass down? I was beginning to worry.
After that slightly dizzying morning, I decided to show them House Heine’s prized herb garden and greenhouse that afternoon.
“This is the herb garden.”
“Th-this is the herb garden? It’s completely different from the one at the royal castle.”
“The lustre, the firmness… No, even the way the leaves grow is completely different. Why are they so vibrant?”
“This is the first time I’ve seen medicinal and detox herbs growing so lushly.”
The three of them were beside themselves with excitement. Come to think of it, I had never taken a close look at the royal castle’s herb garden. Compared with this one, it had seemed somewhat barren, but I had assumed that was because it had just been harvested. If not, then I could understand why our garden seemed to be on an entirely different level.
“We regularly apply the plant nutrient solution I showed you earlier. Make certain you dilute it exactly as instructed. Whatever you do, never use it undiluted.”
“Of course. We will follow the instructions carefully. By the way, what is that? It is a magic tool, is it not?”
“Ah, that is a watering device called a sprinkler. Rosalia developed it. It sprays water over the plants.”
“Sprinkler…”
Six eyes fixed themselves on the device. It was fortunate that Rosalia was not here; otherwise, she would have been buried beneath a barrage of questions. I explained what the sprinkler could do and how water created by magic encouraged growth and improved the plants’ quality. I was sure they would try using one as soon as they returned to the royal capital.
The commotion grew even louder when we entered the greenhouse. Its climate could be adjusted freely throughout the year, allowing us to cultivate a wide variety of materials. Many were still experimental, but with the Appraisal and Plant Cultivation skills, we had successfully grown quite a few.
“I-I can’t believe it! You can cultivate this?”
“M-mushrooms too? What kind of principles allow this to happen?”
“This place is like a treasure chest of materials!”
As I watched the three of them dash about in excitement, even Lady Fabienne seemed overwhelmed and clung tightly to my arm. We were so accustomed to the greenhouse that we thought little of it, but on reflection, their reactions were probably the normal ones.
“If Commander Giovanni saw this place, he would never return to the royal castle. To be honest, I do not want to go back either.”
“Arisa, please don’t say such frightening things.”
“I’m so glad I went on this training journey. Truly.”
“It was a wise decision, wasn’t it?”
Clark was crying, and Lyla was comforting him through her own tears. What was this chaotic scene? I had never imagined that simply showing them a cultivation site would provoke such a reaction.
“Professor Julius, would it be possible to grow a World Tree here?”
“It might grow from a cutting… but absolutely not. Do you understand?”
That was one thing that must never be attempted. No matter how badly I might want World Tree materials, it was a line I could not cross. If a World Tree began growing in the Heine Margraviate, people would descend upon us in uncontrollable numbers.
It was already bad enough that the region had become a summer resort and hosted horse races. Perhaps suggesting the races had been a mistake. The lake and the forest walking trails might have been enough on their own. Regretting it now, however, was far too little and far too late.
