Chapter 467: Those Who Return, Those Who Go Home

From then on, our days centred on improving Arisa’s technique.Full novel: Frontier magic pharmacist — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Whatever it took, we had to ensure that she could reliably make full recovery potions before she left. Lyla and Clark intended to remain at the House Heine estate for the time being, so they could develop their skills at a more measured pace.

By the end of the social season, all four of them had become capable of making full recovery potions. Arisa was probably already among the finest royal magic pharmacists in the kingdom. As her temporary mentor, I could not have been prouder.

“Father and the others will be back in about a week.”

Brother Alex announced this during dinner.

That evening, the House Heine family were not the only people at the table; Arisa, Lionel and the others were there as well. I had suspected that something was afoot, and apparently this was the reason. Rosalia bounced happily in the seat beside me.

“Then… does that mean Sister-in-law Daniela will return to the capital as well?”

At this point, it would not have been an exaggeration to say that House Heine kept running thanks to Brother Alex and Sister-in-law Daniela. Managing the Heine Trading Company, organising the horse races and overseeing affairs throughout the margraviate were more than Brother Alex could handle alone.

Even with our parents returning, I wanted Sister-in-law Daniela to remain here. To be honest, I would miss her even if she left for only a short while. I already thought of her as a true sister. It was not because of her chest. I was not like Brother Alex.

“Don’t make that face. I have no plans to return. This is where I belong.”

Sister-in-law Daniela smiled gently. I felt guilty for voicing such a selfish thought. She must have wanted to see her family in the capital, yet she chose to stay here. As I sank deeper into remorse, Rosalia reached over and patted me. What was this strange, slightly embarrassing feeling?

“Once Father returns, let’s all go to the capital for about a week. I’m sure they’ll want to see Daniela’s face too.”

“Thank you. I’ll take you up on that.”

Brother Alex immediately offered the perfect solution. Goodness, he was handsome. I really needed to improve my own handsomeness, though I had no intention of becoming a playboy. When the couple began behaving affectionately, I looked away.

“Then we will have to say goodbye to Arisa, will we not? I shall miss her.”

“Huh?”

Arisa, who had been eating happily, dropped her fork and froze. What was wrong? She had already learned to make full recovery potions, so naturally she had to return to the capital and teach the other royal magic pharmacists. If she delayed until the roads were covered in snow, travelling back would become difficult.

“No… Wait! Lyla and Clark can return in my place!”

“That will not work. Commander Giovanni appointed you, remember? We are merely apprentice magic pharmacists now—and magic pharmacists attached to House Heine at that.”

“Ahhh, that’s so unfair. This has to be a lie. Why did it turn out like this, why…”

Arisa clutched her head and muttered to herself. It was probably best to leave her alone. She appeared to have planned on settling here as though that were perfectly normal. Lyla and Clark, meanwhile, looked fully prepared to remain forever. Was that truly all right? Would Commander Giovanni not be furious?

Perhaps not wanting to step on a landmine, Lyla and Clark offered no follow-up whatsoever. It felt a little cold, but maybe it just showed how much they wanted to stay here. I decided to be grateful.

Until our parents returned, Arisa continued her days of lamentation. Even I was at a loss for how to deal with it.

“Father, Mother, welcome home. I am glad to see that Brother Cain and Sister-in-law Meeka are well too.”

“We’re back. It’s good to see everyone doing well… except for one person making a rather ridiculous face—are they alright?”

“Ah, don’t worry about her. She just doesn’t want to go back to the capital.”

Father tilted his head. He already knew that a royal magic pharmacist was staying at the House Heine estate, so I assumed he would understand once we explained everything later. For now, they needed to recover from their journey.

We all went to the salon and shared updates about recent events. After hearing Arisa’s story, Father and the others smiled wryly.

“I have heard about the full recovery potion. They said mastering the technique would take more than a year, but apparently that was not the case. His Majesty will surely be pleased.”

“It is all thanks to Arisa’s exceptional talent as a magic pharmacist.”

Arisa’s eyes suddenly widened. What was that reaction? Please do not make a face that says, ‘Wait, perhaps I can use that!’ You already know how to make the potion, so we cannot keep His Majesty or Commander Giovanni waiting any longer.

Father evidently understood that as well. Three days later, Arisa departed for the capital with Brother Alex and Sister-in-law Daniela. As she climbed into the carriage, she looked exactly like a calf being taken to market.
