“I hеаrd уou kiсked оver a сlаssmаtе’s desk just to sit nехt to Fu Tinghаn?”

Jiang Er undеrstооd immеdiatеlу. “Someone came tо tattlе? Shе surе knоws hоw to dоwnplay thе impоrtant рarts.”

“Тhat’s not important. Answer my question first,” Teacher Wang said. “Why are you so determined to sit next to Fu Tinghan? You know, at your age, saying things like that can easily be misunderstood.”

Jiang Er replied, “Because I’m a normal person, in every sense of the word.”

Teacher Wang asked, “What?”

Jiang Er answered simply and directly, “You should know that besides me, no one in the class is willing to sit next to him.”

Teacher Wang smoothly responded, “Willingness isn’t always that important. Everyone has different thoughts. If we arranged things according to everyone’s wishes, no matter what we did, someone would likely be dissatisfied. You’re still students, so just obediently follow the arrangements.”

Jiang Er couldn’t be bothered to beat around the bush. “Do you know about the drawing lots?”

Teacher Wang’s expression remained unchanged. “This method isn’t entirely appropriate, but the outcome depends solely on individual luck. In a way, it’s still fair. And compared to other methods, it’s more acceptable, isn’t it?”

Jiang Er: “…”

After a long silence, she curled her lips, revealing a row of neat, white teeth, and said softly, “Let me clarify first—I have manners, but not many.”

Teacher Wang was puzzled.

The next second, Jiang Er continued with a face full of sincerity, “So, I sincerely wish you, Teacher Wang, that you’ll encounter such fairness in the nursing home in the future~”

The office fell silent.

“Pfft—”

Someone couldn’t hold back a laugh.

Teacher Wang’s thermos trembled in his hand, splashing a few drops of hot tea.

His expression changed as he struggled to suppress his anger. “Jiang Er, is this how you speak to your homeroom teacher?”

Jiang Er looked innocent. “Teacher, what did I say wrong? I was just following your logic.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the laughter rang out again.

Teacher Wang gritted his teeth and abruptly turned around. “Control your student, Cheng Zhi! What’s so funny? If she loves laughing so much, let her go outside and laugh her fill!”

The teacher in red didn’t even lift her eyelids, instead pointing out a typo on Cheng Zhi’s self-criticism as she said calmly, “Your voice is louder than hers.”

Teacher Wang: “…”

Having been rebuffed repeatedly, Teacher Wang couldn’t save face. He glared at Jiang Er and said sternly, “You go back and write a self-criticism too. Eight hundred words, due before school ends.”

Jiang Er replied, “I won’t write it.”

Teacher Wang slammed the table heavily. “You dare talk back!”

Most students would have been scared by now, but fortunately, Jiang Er had been a slacker for two lifetimes. She didn’t have much of anything, but she had plenty of defiance.

“I didn’t do anything wrong, so I won’t write it.”

Teacher Wang’s temple throbbed. “What kind of attitude is this? Aren’t you afraid I’ll call your parents?”

Jiang Er cooperated readily. “Do you need my dad’s number?”

“But,” she added, her tone shifting, “if my dad comes, I probably won’t just be writing a self-criticism.”

“I’ll transfer schools directly,” she said with a smile. The teacher beside Teacher Wang paled, quietly pulling him aside and whispering:

“Her father’s donation for the school building has just started construction… better not get too involved.”

Teacher Wang also came to his senses, taking a deep breath, his teeth nearly grinding as he forced a gentle smile toward Jiang Er:

“Alright, we’ll discuss this matter later. You should head back to the classroom first.”

Jiang Er nodded indifferently, turned to leave, then paused and looked back:

“Teacher Wang.”

“What else?” he asked impatiently.

“You’re right,” she said. “A lottery system that relies purely on luck is indeed fair to everyone.”

“Except for Fu Tinghan.”

Before Teacher Wang could retort, she had already turned and walked out of the office, leaving only a distant remark behind.

“You’ve never given him a choice.”

Teacher Wang’s expression turned extremely unpleasant.

…

After writing the last word, Fu Tinghan closed his pen cap.

The seat beside him was still empty. He glanced subtly out the window.

“Hey, someone’s looking for you.”

Suddenly, the boy in front of him turned around and shook his desk forcefully, waving his hand exaggeratedly in front of his face.

Fu Tinghan snapped out of his thoughts and followed the direction of the boy’s finger, his gaze turning cold.

At the classroom door, a blue-haired boy leaned lazily against the frame, arms crossed. When he met Fu Tinghan’s gaze, he raised an eyebrow with a mocking smile.

In the corridor beside him, a crowd had gathered.

The students of Class Six fell silent.

Only the boy in front whispered:

“Hurry up and go out. Don’t bring trouble into the class.”

Fu Tinghan stared quietly at his exaggerated lip movements, a chill settling between his brows.

The boy felt a shiver down his spine and quickly turned back around.

The person at the door was still waiting. The students of Class Six stared at Fu Tinghan with heavy disapproval, silently urging him.

A hint of mockery lifted the corners of Fu Tinghan’s lips as he stood up and walked step by step toward the door.

Beside the basketball court, the crowd surged.

“Strange, I remember this was the shortest route to the convenience store.”

Jiang Er struggled through the crowd, trying to recall the way while stopping someone to ask for directions. “Hey, do you know how to get to the convenience store?”

The boy held a telescope, intently focused in a certain direction, and answered absentmindedly, “Go straight for a hundred meters, turn right, then about fifty meters later, turn left.”

“And that leads to the convenience store?” Jiang Er asked.

“No, that leads to the school clinic,” he said seriously. “You can pick up a stretcher there to carry away that deaf senior.”

Jiang Er: “…”

“It seems Lin Ling is serious this time,” he sighed, shaking his head at the scene in his telescope. “Of all people to offend, he had to pick Lin Ling. Fu Tinghan is in for a rough time.”

Jiang Er realized something and snatched the telescope from the boy, handing him a few large bills in return:

“Let me borrow this.”

The boy let out an annoyed “Hey!” and was about to curse, but when he looked down and saw the money in his hand, his expression immediately turned friendly.

“No rush, take your time~”

As he spoke, he turned around, but his expression changed when he saw Jiang Er clearly. He slicked back his oily hair and leaned confidently against a tree:

“Hey, junior, guess what time it is? I’d say it’s the start of our love story.”

Jiang Er raised the telescope: “Or it could be the end of your life—don’t make me slap you.”

The boy: …

He didn’t dare make another sound.

With the telescope, Jiang Er easily assessed the situation ahead.Fu Tinghan was indeed there.

In the center of the crowd, in a deliberately cleared open space, he stood alone on one side, facing seven or eight boys who all had their backs turned to Jiang Er.

Suddenly, a blue-haired boy emerged from the crowd, and the previously noisy surroundings quickly fell silent.

He said something, but Fu Tinghan ignored him, and the atmosphere instantly grew tense.

Jiang Er narrowed her eyes and asked the boy beside her, “Who’s that guy with the blue hair, the one who looks so arrogant?”

The boy answered without hesitation, “That’s Lin Ling from Class 9, Grade 11. He’s the top dog in our school.”

“Why is he allowed to dye his hair?” Jiang Er asked.

“Because he’s the top dog in our school,” the boy replied honestly.

“How did Fu Tinghan offend him?”

“I heard it’s because Fu Tinghan once stole the girl he liked.”

Jiang Er clicked her tongue.

Hearing this reason, she tossed the binoculars to the boy and turned to leave.

What happened in the classroom earlier was because she didn’t want to be a bystander.

But she had no interest in getting involved in the love-hate drama between Fu Tinghan and this Lin Ling.

Helping him return to the Fu family as a wealthy young master was enough. No need to stir up unnecessary trouble—after all, they probably wouldn’t cross paths again in the future.

She hadn’t taken more than a few steps when something happened, causing a commotion in the crowd.

The boy with the binoculars even gasped dramatically, “Oh my god, it’s really happening. No one’s going to help that deaf guy, is there? Tsk tsk, he’s definitely done for.”

Jiang Er: “…”

The scene from that heavy snowfall uncontrollably flashed before her eyes.

Fu Tinghan trudged forward, carrying her lifeless body. The prosthetic limb on his left leg, pushed beyond its limits, had rubbed the skin raw at the joint. Blood stained his shoes and socks, dyeing the snow beneath his feet crimson.

Jiang Er: “…”

Damn it.

She took a deep breath, rolled up her nonexistent sleeves, and abruptly turned back.
