Zeus’s thunder-laced roar echoed across the battlefield like a clarion call to attack.
The moment they heard it, Poseidon and Hades—who had been “struggling” through the battle—brightened almost simultaneously, expressions of relief appearing on their faces.
The next instant, the auras radiating from both of them changed completely.
Their previously strained facade vanished without a trace, replaced by an overwhelming pressure like the eruption of the deepest ocean and the opening of the underworld itself.
“Hmph!
You ugly monster, you seemed awfully pleased with yourself just now, didn’t you?” Poseidon grinned, azure light blazing within his eyes.
The phantom ocean surrounding him became several times more solid as he threw a punch carrying enough force to shatter space itself.
“Although I’m not as vindictive as Poseidon, I suppose it’s finally time to get a little serious.” The shadows surrounding Hades expanded instantly, swallowing the surrounding light as though consuming space itself.
Countless blades forged from death erupted from the darkness, leaving Kampe nowhere to evade.
Realizing Zeus was behind her and sensing the terrifying surge of power from Poseidon and Hades, Kampe immediately understood what had happened.
A feint to the east while striking in the west… Their true target was Tartarus!
Panic flooded her heart.
Although she had guarded this place for ten years without ever stepping onto the front lines, she had heard countless reports of the three brothers’ terrifying feats.
She had assumed that with the war raging elsewhere, it would be impossible for all three of them to leave the battlefield simultaneously—let alone infiltrate such a crucial location.
She had miscalculated.
Terribly.
Damn it… With all three of them together, I can’t hold them off for long!
I have to warn Lord Kronos!
A veteran warrior through countless battles, Kampe responded to desperation by becoming even more ferocious.
As she desperately swung her weapons to fend off the now-overwhelming assault from Poseidon and Hades, one of her goat heads released a strange, piercing screech.
Moments later, a magical messenger bird shot out like a bolt of lightning, streaking toward Kronos’s palace at incredible speed.
The only thing left for her to do was buy as much time as possible.
“Don’t think I’ll surrender so easily!
For Lord Kronos!” With Zeus joining the battle, Kampe launched herself into one final desperate frenzy.
… Yet Kampe’s defeat came almost instantly.
The once-feared guardian who had terrified countless Titans and gods now lay in a pool of blood amid shattered scales.
Her enormous serpentine body was covered with deep fist marks and horrific gashes.
The metallic scales that had once protected her had been ripped away in great patches, exposing mangled flesh beneath as thick blood poured across the ground.
The beast heads encircling her neck had either been smashed apart by overwhelming force or cleanly severed by razor-sharp blades.
They lay scattered around her, twitching weakly as they let out their final dying hisses.
“Enough, Hades!
I told you before—we’re not here to kill her!” The lightning surrounding Zeus had yet to fade.
Seeing Hades preparing to completely dismember Kampe, he immediately shouted for him to stop.
Hades paused, his icy gaze shifting toward Zeus.
“Zeus, since when have you had the authority to give me orders?” “It’s not an order, Hades.
It’s a request from the Hecatoncheires and the Cyclopes.
They asked us to spare her.” “Hmph.
And why should I care?
She dared insult and look down on me.
That alone is unforgivable.” With a cold snort, Hades ignored Zeus completely and severed the remaining venomous snake heads from Kampe’s body.
Without the slightest concern for the blood covering them, he used divine power to weave the severed snake heads into a necklace before hanging it around his own neck.
Oddly enough, it suited his gloomy temperament perfectly, making him appear even more sinister and imposing.
Watching this, both Zeus and Poseidon frowned.
Poseidon didn’t particularly care whether Kampe lived or died.
He simply thought Hades’s behavior… …was incredibly pretentious and more than a little disturbing.
Still, with Kronos poised to arrive at any moment, this was hardly the time to start another argument over the life of a monster—or Hades’s bizarre collecting habits.
Both of them silently chose to let the matter drop.
“Zeus, stop staring.
Since Kampe managed to send that messenger, we’ve only got a little time before Kronos finds out.
Gather those big guys and head back to base.” Poseidon broke the awkward silence first, pointing toward Tartarus.
Zeus took a deep breath, suppressing his dissatisfaction with Hades’s actions before giving a firm nod.
“You’re right.
Let’s move!” He immediately turned and led the Hecatoncheires and Cyclopes away from the entrance to Tartarus.
… By the time Zeus and the others had returned to camp, explained everything, and begun making emergency preparations, Kronos finally received Kampe’s warning.
“What?!
Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus all left the battlefield and infiltrated Tartarus together?!” Kronos crushed the golden goblet in his hand, his handsome face twisting with fury.
He knew better than anyone what terrifying beings were imprisoned within that abyss.
And he knew exactly how disastrous it would be if those ancient giants, who hated him with every fiber of their being, were released.
“Damn it!
Send the order immediately!
Assemble every soldier!
Launch a full-scale assault at any cost!
We must crush them before those monsters recover their strength!” Kronos’s furious roar echoed throughout the palace as the machinery of war accelerated once more.
But… He was already too late.
When the Titan army surged toward the new gods’ encampment like an unstoppable tide, they were met head-on by the waiting Hecatoncheires.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Fifty heads unleashed earth-shaking roars as one hundred colossal arms swung simultaneously.
Each arm overflowed with immense primordial divine power.
The Titan generals charging at the front were blasted away before they could even unleash their signature techniques or divine weapons, sent flying like discarded dolls.
Ordinary Titan warriors couldn’t even get close.
The violent shockwaves and force fields pulverized them into dust before they reached the battlefield.
An enormous stretch of the battlefield was instantly wiped clean.
“W-What are those monsters?!” “It’s the Hecatoncheires!
The ancient giants Lord Kronos imprisoned!
They’ve been released!” Panic spread rapidly through the Titan ranks, and their previously unstoppable momentum ground to a halt.
“Damn those accursed brothers… To think they’d endure until the very end just to ruin my grand plan!” Standing atop his war chariot, Kronos glared at the Hecatoncheires—walking natural disasters—with hatred burning in his eyes as his teeth ground together.
If I had known things would come to this… perhaps I should have… “Heh… Family?
Brothers?” The overlapping voices of the Hecatoncheires rolled across the battlefield like thunder.
“We have never considered a despicable traitor like you—who betrayed and imprisoned his own brothers—to be family!” Kronos’s face darkened.
Watching the battle shift completely in his enemies’ favor and sensing the rapidly approaching auras of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, he realized that continuing the assault would only lead to catastrophic losses.
“…Pass the order.” He clenched his jaw.
“Retreat.” In the end, Kronos had no choice but to order a withdrawal.
