Everyone stood in silence.
Nora was looking at Taeho, and Yeonho was standing in front of the box as if trying to protect it.
Nora said in shock:
“Taeho!
What are you doing here?”
Taeho gave a mysterious smile.
“I’m looking for the same thing you’re looking for.”
He pointed at the box.
“The truth.”
Nora felt confused.
“If you knew all of this, why didn’t you tell us?”
Taeho answered:
“Because some truths are dangerous.”
He took another step toward the box.
But Yeonho blocked his way.
“Don’t touch it.”
Taeho looked at him coldly.
Nora froze.
“Protect me from what?”
But neither of the boys answered.
After a few tense moments, Nora knelt beside the box.
There was an old lock on top of it.
She suddenly remembered the message she had received days ago:
“The key is with your aunt.”
She pulled out the key her aunt had sent her that morning without any explanation.
She looked at Yeonho.
“I think this is the key.”
He nodded.
She inserted the key into the lock.
The mechanism turned slowly…
Then a “click” sound came.
And the box opened.
Everyone held their breath.
Inside there was no gold or money.
Instead, there were old files, photos, and a sealed letter addressed to Nora.
Her hands trembled as she opened the letter. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.
And the first line read:
“To my daughter Nora…
if you are reading this letter, it means the truth has started to come to light.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
She continued reading:
“My death was not an accident, as everyone told you…”
Nora’s eyes widened.
The letter fell from her hand.
She whispered in a trembling voice:
“What…?”
But before she could finish reading…
The warehouse lights suddenly went out.
And a loud crashing sound was heard outside.
Then came the voice of an unknown man:
“They found the box!
Get in now!”
Yeonho looked toward the door quickly.
And said:
“We’re too late…”
