Convincing Hikari and Sei to let me transfer schools was…

surprisingly easy

I went in expecting a full interrogation, charts, graphs, maybe even a PowerPoint, but all I needed to say wasFull novel: Heir Of Thunder — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I think my current school isn’t challenging me enough. I want a place where I can grow more”

And boom—both of them lit up like I’d just told them I wanted to become the Prime Minister.

Academics?

Motivation?

A son striving for personal development?

They practically enrolled me themselves.

So now here I was: Sakurami Elementary, {not sure if that’s even a real school} my first test run.

The moment I walked through the front doors, the atmosphere hit me—louder, rowdier, kids running around, chattering, showing off minor quirks like party tricks.

It was more lively than my old school, at least.

Good means a better chance for finding someone new

I was led to class by my homeroom teacher who guided me inside.”Class, we have a new student joining us today.

This is Denki Kaminari, a transferred student please be nice”

Twenty pairs of eyes stared at me.

Some curious, some annoyed, some bored.

I bowed slightly.

“Hello my name is Denki Kaminari hope we can get along and be friends”

Raising my head I scan my new classmates for anyone I knew

Black hair?

Red hair?

Pink hair?

Anything that screams main cast energy?

Nope, just average kids doing average things

Moving towards an empty seat near the middle, sitting down I could hear other kids trying to whisper but failing.

“His hair’s so bright”

“Does his quirk change his hair color?”

“He looks like a light bulb!”

Real original.

I tuned them out and closed my eyes, extending my senses boosted by my electricity and scanned my surroundings.

It has improved since last time, before I could only use it while closing my eyes and taking slow steps

Now after focusing for a few minutes I could have my eyes open while still being able to move around with it active.

Looking around trying to feel for anything note worthy.

Nothing

A few weak sparks from minor quirks, one kid whose hands heated up slightly when he got excited.

Another whose fingers seemed to transform entirely into water, but nothing impressive.

No powerhouses in the making.

No geniuses.

No one I could use in this classroom.

The teacher started lecturing the students to quiet down.

I pretends to take notes while mentally making out the classroom, waiting for someone interesting to pop out

~~~~~~
A strange aura, a sharp presence, a quirky hairstyle that screamed ‘side character’ something!
Anything!
Still nothing
At recess a bunch of kids can be seen playing together, running around and having fun.
Some kids even started to approach me bombarding me with questions
“Hey what’s your quirk?”
“Can you shoot out fire?”
“Is it ice?”
“Can you jump high like me?”
“Is it lightning?”
“Oh! Can you charge my phone!?”
“No, no, no, yes and I’m not doing that” I said flatly “I ain’t a walking charger”
A couple of them seemed excited hearing my quirk.
The kid who guessed it looked smug, and the one who wanted a free phone charge looked genuinely disappointed.
We stuck together for a bit, chatting lightly until they eventually drifted off to do their own things.
I leaned back against the wall, letting out a slow breath as I thought:
(This school… so far, I haven’t found anyone worth noting. No Kirishima. No Mina. No Tokoyami. Not a single future UA kid in the crowd)
Well, that wasn’t surprising, but it was still annoying.
Not to worry.
I’ve got plenty of time to map out the whole school and get a look at every student at least once….should I look into hacking the school database?
….
Eh.
I’ll think about that later.
For now, I’ll just go with the flow and plan out my day of gathering information.
~~~~~~

One week later I got to work, if I was going to find any UA students in this school.

I would need to scan everything top to bottom.

Day 1: mapping the school

Left wing: classrooms 1-A to 1-D with others worth noting

Right wing: music room, art room, storage closet that smelled like old socks

Back hallway: bathrooms, lunch room and a suspiciously flickering light that I considered absorbing for energy

By recess I’ve memorized the entire first floor.

Sadly in my investigation I saw no familiar face.

Just regular kids being regular kids.

Boring

Day 2: Club Recon

This school has a surprising number of clubs for students my age to attend

Art club: no Mina

Shogi club: no Momo

Track club: Iida is definitely not here I know he’s in a different school

Chemistry club: A kid accidentally spilled a flask full of boiling water and other chemicals melted a bit of his desk…at least it wasn’t a kettle

I checked every club, lingering long enough to observe their quirks and personalities

Still nothing

Day 3: Upper grade sweep

Even though it was unlikely I would find anyone, I still wanted to be sure.

During lunch room while everyone crowded the area, I slipped up the stairs.

[how did that happen?]

Second floor classes: checked.

Third floor classes: checked.

Fourth floor classes: a kid shouted ‘MANLY’ making my head whip around only to see a plain looking kid with sticky fingers as his quirk

Another dud

Day 6: Observation Field

That afternoon, I quietly spread a thin field of electricity from my feet through the hallway floors

Not enough to shock anyone or bring attention— just enough for me to feel the movement and bioelectric pulses of people around me

My own personal, baby-version Observation Haki

A dozen kids walked by.

Twenty more in the nearby classrooms.

Not one stood out.

If a UA-level quirk was nearby, I would have sensed something sharper, stronger…

more interesting.

All I sensed was boredom

Day 12: Conclusion

I sat in the middle of the cafeteria at lunch rotating slowly like a tiny human radar

Left table: two kids arguing about whose quirk could beat a raccoon

Right table: a girl levitating crumbs to make a floating sandwich

Front table: a boy crying because his quirk turned his juice into gelatin

Not one of them screamed “future top hero”

I sighed, pushing my tray away.

This school really is a dead zone

P.S.

I also hacked into the schools network to see the kids attending none of them where UA hopefuls I know of

I clicked my tongue in annoyance.

(Alright that’s 1 school down plenty more in the city and more out of it. I just need to keep looking, eventually I’ll find some others)

Good thing transferring in the search of better academic opportunities was easy for a kid with perfect grades
