In reality, Lu Yuelan had been scared off by the puppy’s enthusiasm. Worried that the little cutie might notice her somewhat perfunctory attitude, she quickly slipped away.

【Beep. Congratulations to player Lu Yuelan for completing the childcare instructor job. Reward: 5 resource coins.】
The moment Lu Yuelan stepped out, system notifications kept ringing continuously. She couldn’t help but curl her lips upward as she began her usual routine of opening reward boxes.
【Beep. Congratulations to player Lu Yuelan for obtaining: Special chocolate ×10, small school bus upgrade fragments ×3, iron sheets ×5, rubber ×5, childcare instructor skill book ×1.】
It was a huge lucky draw, she actually obtained a childcare instructor skill book. If it had been a skill book from another profession, she wouldn’t have been able to use it, and it would’ve been hard to sell as well.
After all, this was still the early stage of the game. No one had much money on hand. Throwing it away would be a pity, but keeping it was even better, her own profession skill book was the best choice.
Lu Yuelan learned the skill book and gained a new ability: mental guidance. At the same time, her occupational tasks expanded to include two additional functions: healing and purification of cubs.
Both healing and purifying cubs would grant her a medical gift pack.
This would be extremely helpful for her future in the game. Thinking ahead, she planned to enter a station again later and find an opportunity to test this skill to see how effective it was.
With the “mental guidance” skill as a good start, Lu Yuelan felt a bit more confident about her future gameplay life. She started the vehicle again and continued today’s driving task.
Now that the occupational mission was over, she returned to her original single-lane route.
Through the “farming” she had done during her job tasks, Lu Yuelan was temporarily not short on fuel. Even after sending little Lang Tianya to his destination, the fuel tank was still half full, more than enough to complete today’s basic mileage requirement.
With the fuel issue temporarily resolved, Lu Yuelan now needed to focus on her living supplies and plan for long-term survival.
Living off stored supplies alone was not a viable strategy. The items she brought in could only serve as backup funds to prevent starvation, they could not be her only source of survival. Picking up loot boxes and obtaining more resources was the real long-term solution.
In order not to miss any resource boxes along the way, Lu Yuelan focused her attention on both sides of the road.
She had never actually looted resource boxes before, so she didn’t know their spawn patterns. After checking online, she found many conflicting opinions, no one could give a definite rule. However, she unexpectedly learned about the classification of resource box tiers.
Resource box tiers: Black, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Red, and Gold.
Currently, everyone was still in the beginner stage, so Black and White boxes were the most common. Yellow and Green boxes were rare, and higher-tier boxes could only be found in certain special stations, under normal circumstances, they were not seen in the wild.
Only after passing the beginner stage could higher-tier boxes be unlocked. This was also one of the few disadvantages of the beginner phase.
However, there were also benefits. According to official government information, the monsters inside the boxes had significantly reduced combat strength. Even if one encountered a monster from a Green box, an ordinary person could deal with it carefully.
On this point, Lu Yuelan was a bit skeptical. When the official statement said “ordinary people,” did it refer to the average value… or people like her, a complete shut-in, who could still handle it?
She had originally planned to ask the official state, but after thinking it over, she had already spent quite a bit of time on her occupational mission. To avoid not having enough mileage and suffering unnecessary trouble, she decided to leave it until nighttime to ask.
Today, she had probably already used up a good portion of her luck. It was unlikely she would encounter another green resource box so easily, so she continued on the road without worry.
However, Lu Yuelan didn’t expect reality to slap her in the face so quickly, the very first box she encountered was a green one.
Should she open it, or not?
Today had already brought her quite a few good things, so Lu Yuelan didn’t think her luck would last forever. But this green box was her first one, and she couldn’t bear to leave it behind. So she placed it in the back seat of the vehicle.
Why didn’t this game have a backpack system? Even storing the small school bus was only possible through a temporary storage space.
Without a backpack, she was running out of places to put things.
Vehicles belonging to unlucky players had such narrow space that they could only fit one person, so how were they supposed to carry loot?
The more she thought about it, the more questions she had. Lu Yuelan decided she would go ask the state for information at night.
However, even though it was her country’s official state, she couldn’t bring herself to expect something for nothing. The problem was she didn’t have much on hand, and she wasn’t sure whether the government would even care about her small amount of supplies.
It would be great if she could run into a shop, then she could use resource coins to buy some fuel and exchange it for important information from the authorities.
Especially since Lu Yuelan also wanted to know whether there were missing-person notices in the game, something that could help her find her grandmother and her aunt’s family.
These kinds of important pieces of information, she didn’t know how to exchange for them with the government side. In any case, the more good items she had on hand, the better.
A red light appeared in front of Lu Yuelan. She slammed on the brakes in a hurry, almost losing focus while thinking and nearly violating traffic rules. It seemed better to be more careful next time, who knew if breaking rules in this game would mean using her own life as payment.
While waiting at the traffic light, Lu Yuelan went online and started browsing, checking whether any important information had appeared recently.
【Watch Me Punch the Bull From Afar: Hey, leaders, didn’t you say even ordinary people could handle green boxes as long as they were careful? My waist is practically about to break.】
【You Damn Bastard Bucket: Girl, you’re amazing. I picked up more than ten boxes today, all black ones, I didn’t even see a single white box. You actually got a green box, your luck is insane.】
【Officially Certified by the State: That’s right. The information I received also said that ordinary people in a team could defeat the monsters inside green boxes if they were careful.】
“In a team?” Lu Yuelan’s State really knows how to joke. She broke out in a cold sweat and almost believed their nonsense, she nearly would’ve fallen into a trap and gotten herself killed.
【Watch Me Punch the Bull From Afar: Then why couldn’t I beat it? If I weren’t quick on my feet, I would’ve died there.】
【One Two Three Four Five: [1]Father State – it’s a joking, affectionate way for people online to refer to their country or government authorities jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_2307937_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_2307937_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });Father State, do you think there are any “ordinary people” in the national team?】
A kindred spirit. When Lu Yuelan saw the message from “One Two Three Four Five,” she almost wanted to hug him through the screen. Even the weakest soldiers in the military were stronger than ordinary people, let alone her, a total shut-in. If she went up against anyone, she’d be taken down instantly. It would be like Black and White Impermanence coming to collect her, with the King of Hell already waiting in the underworld.
【Watch Me Punch the Bull From Afar: Wow, so that’s what you meant. My father state your daughter nearly got killed by you.】
【One Two Three Four Five: Leaders, please be accurate with your information. If my little granddaughter accidentally saw your messages and actually believed your nonsense, she could’ve been killed. She’s just a lazy girl who doesn’t do any physical work. If I had known this would happen, I shouldn’t have spoiled her so much. With her poor physical condition, could she even wait for me to bring her home? Such a headache.】
【Earth Is Too Dangerous, I Want to Go Back to Mars: Waaah, I’m out of fuel. Brothers and sisters, please send help. I’m about to die.】
【You Damn Bastard Bucket: No way, bro, you still haven’t gotten fuel? What time is it already? Did you meet today’s mileage requirement?】
【Earth Is Too Dangerous, I Want to Go Back to Mars: Wuu wuu~ No, something went wrong. I’m still far short.】
【You Damn Bastard Bucket: That’s bad. Find a way to get some fuel. If you don’t meet the mileage requirement, something bad will happen.】
